Eating an entire 500g tub of sweets

Is that just weird? A man in his 50s, getting through a whole box of (really sickly) jelly sweets in one go? I had one sweet on Halloween night and couldn't even manage that, it was so sickly. The kids had a couple each and didn't go back to them, so they've been just left in the cupboard. Got up to find an empty box this morning, asked dh where he'd put them, thinking possibly he'd moved them to a different container... "I ate them," he said. What would you think? I mean, it's not the world's biggest problem, but I just think it's strange...

He probably got belly ache....but it's do-able 😕🤔

BrilliantGreenFlamingo · 09/11/2022 12:33

Not the greedy husband one again…

1000yellowdaisies · 09/11/2022 12:33

Meh maybe he just fancied it. A bit mean to eat them all of the kids wanted them but i wouldn't particularly give it any thought

Bintymcbintface · 09/11/2022 12:33

"I didn't like the sweets so the fact that someone else ate the lot makes them a weirdo"

DrManhattan · 09/11/2022 12:34

What's the AIBU?

IHeartGeneHunt · 09/11/2022 12:34

That's not weird at all. I could do that no problem.

"I didn't like the sweets so the fact that someone else ate the lot makes them a weirdo"

This.

If they belonged to the kids and they wanted them then he’s out of order. But the fact he likes something that you don’t? No, that’s doesn’t make him ‘weird’.

Pinkroom · 09/11/2022 12:35

I had one sweet and could even manage that.. 😂only on mumsnet

IncompleteSenten · 09/11/2022 12:35

I'm sure people could.
500g is about the weight of a dinner and people eat those.

If you've got a really sweet tooth then yeah. You could.

getoutof · 09/11/2022 12:35

You couldn't manage one sweet? That's definitely unreasonable.

fucketyfuckwit · 09/11/2022 12:36

It's a good job we aren't just clones of each other isn't.

Good for you!

I love sweets and could eat them until I was sick.

PinkyFlamingo · 09/11/2022 12:37

So because you "couldnt possibly" eat more than one any other adult who does is what...odd? Greedy?

Needmorelego · 09/11/2022 12:37

Hang on...were they Tangfastics or regular Haribo?
A whole tub of Tangfastics is quite a challenge.
Not that I've tried..... honestly 🙂

DelilahBucket · 09/11/2022 12:38

My husband could quite easily demolish a full tub of sweets. I on the other hand will have a couple and that's it as I'm not a massive fan of sweets. Neither of us are weird.
For all we know he's not had them all last night, he's probably been having some each day. What's strange about that?! Unless of course we're missing some vital info here like he's diabetic.

Hugasauras · 09/11/2022 12:38

You couldn't even manage one sweet? Hmm

HuggsBosom · 09/11/2022 12:39

I'm a feast or famine type of person. I can eat the whole thing or nothing at all, I can't do inbetween.

Foolsandtheirmoney · 09/11/2022 12:41

You are the weirdo for not being able to manage to eat a single sweet.

ChineAndWheeseParty · 09/11/2022 12:41

Oh god you sound tedious. Your poor DH.

Sparklesocks · 09/11/2022 12:44

I’ve seen people eat far worse

DanglyThings · 09/11/2022 12:44

Ok, it's me then. No problem, thanks for the replies. I do agree I'm a weirdo for not being able to eat a whole one of those sugary pair of cherries things 😅

Are you even sure he ate them all in 1 go? You say they were left in the cupboard and you noticd it empty this morning - I assuem you're not checking a box you don't care abotu all the time so surely he might have worked through them over a few days?

Even so I don't see it as so different from eating a tub of Ben and Jerrys and I've definitly been know to do that!

Ponoka7 · 09/11/2022 12:45

What people like, varies. I like Colin the Caterpillar cake, my adult children think that it's too rich. My youngest adult DD like sour sweets, I can't eat one. How have you not realised this by now? Is he a past weed smoker and you think that he has started again? I can't think of any other reason to overthink this.

CookPassBabtridge · 09/11/2022 12:47

I could easily do this..

StrawberrySquash · 09/11/2022 12:47

You couldn't manage one sweet? Or you weren't that keen to eat more than one because they're not really your thing?
