What are your favourite tinned soups? Also open to the shop-bought fresh soup suggestions!

What is a tinned soup?
All the people I know, well, alright my family, and I make our own soups. No tins involved.
We did not grow with tinned soup either.

What is a tinned soup? Why don't you have a little think about what it could possibly be.

choppolata · 01/11/2022 19:12

Baxters tomato and butterbean!

cosmiccosmos · 01/11/2022 19:14

I had soup today but it was fresh not tinned.. The only tinned soup I'll eat is mulligatawny.

Derrymum123 · 01/11/2022 19:21

What's tinned soup. Well. It could be a type of soup, maybe. In a tin? No, no. Surely not. No one could do such a heinous thing as trap soup in a tin. It must be something else.

Luredbyapomegranate · 01/11/2022 19:42

Baxter’s butter bean and carrot

I don’t especially like soup, but it’s not bad

You can’t grow children with tinned soup, it’s not like watering cress

You feed it to them

HTH

Fresh
Moroccan chicken
pea & ham hock

tinned
cream of chicken
lentil

bread not required as they are sooo delicious and filling

Butteredtoast55 · 01/11/2022 19:56

I used to love Yorkshire Provender tomato and red pepper but it's got an awful texture now and nowhere near enough Wensleydale cheese. So now I go for Heinz Cream of Tomato with a bit of cheese crumbled into it. It costs half as much and is lovely. I also like Covent Garden leek and potato and sometimes Heinz Vegetable Soup is just what I need.
DH loves M and S chicken and rice which they do in a small carton, ideal for lunch.

Gosh, I love soup. We are a Scottish family and I grew up on the stuff. Broth made with a bit of stewing beef, lentil soup with ham hock, Campbell's condensed tinned soup (mushroom, tomato, oxtail, chicken and the best of all, tomato rice). The only soup I'm not too keen on is carrot and coriander. Bit sweet for me.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 01/11/2022 20:04

MintyGreenDreams · 01/11/2022 20:05

All tinned soups taste of tin

Whosaidthattt · 01/11/2022 20:09

What's this soup with mash madness?
How does that work?
Do you stir it in or plonk a lump of mash in?
Or have it on the side?
I don't understand!! Please do tell!
I can't work out if I am missing something or if it is indeed madness! 🤔

Heinz mushroom, with lots of black pepper and a slab of hot buttered toast

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/11/2022 20:46

Another vote for Baxters minestrone here - nothing to beat it IMO

BaggaChipz · 01/11/2022 20:47

Heinz Tomato Soup is the best with white toast

Need to try this Yorkshire chicken soup everyone is going on about.

Does anyone know where I can get a nice french onion soup without the beef stock/extract

Georgieporgie29 · 01/11/2022 21:21

Baxter’s Italian tomato and basil

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/11/2022 22:10

For me I had a dollop of mash in the centre of a bowl and soup poured around it, like a moat 🤣 so nostalgic thinking of that now.

Catinabeanbag · 01/11/2022 22:34

Heinz tomato
With high bake water biscuits and grated cheddar in the bowl before adding the soup.

Swiflt followed by mushroom. Got to be eaten with toast.

SocksAndTheCity · 01/11/2022 22:37

Heinz tomato but with cheese on toast or crackers and cheese (or a hot dog or two for very hungry).

I also rate the M&S chicken and rice one mentioned by pp. Definitely doesn't need anything to go with it.
