Soup thread has me craving soup!

What are your favourite tinned soups? Also open to the shop-bought fresh soup suggestions!

I think Heinz Tomato soup is really poor now. I have just changed to M&S Tomato soup in tins and it actually tastes far nicer. I think heinz tomato is now flavourless and disappointing.
Also agree with Cully& Sully soup. Lovley.

Tinned - cream of tomato

Fresh - cauliflower cheese

fastcarsnarrowstreets · 01/11/2022 18:14

Oh, also, Knorr's Chicken Noodle soup with a tin of sweetcorn stirred in - perfect when feeling ill.

What is a tinned soup?
All the people I know, well, alright my family, and I make our own soups. No tins involved.
We did not grow with tinned soup either.

Ok. You had a superior upbringing to the rest of us But come on -
You must be aware that tinned soup exists.

Twiglets1 · 01/11/2022 18:17

Campbell's Condensed Celery - hard to find but so good.
Heinz Cream of Tomato - if feeling poorly, fry up some garlic in the pan before adding the soup, then heat slowly to infuse.

Oh a fellow fan of Campbells condensed celery! I order it on subscription from Amazon.

Don’t you ever walk down the tinned food aisle in a supermarket? Or seen the mega famous Andy Warhol Campbells soup pop art work?! Christ on a bike you’ve led a sheltered life…. 😆

Wisteria1979 · 01/11/2022 18:21

For fresh ones the M&S chicken, rice and mushroom is lovely and chunky. And the waitrose chicken and green veg broth. Both my go tos. Kids love the the Heinz Tomato but too sweet for me. Will try some of your other tips! Would like a recommendation of a (ready made) great French onion soup if anyone has that. I can make my own but takes ages to get it right and still feels like gravy….

carkerpatridge · 01/11/2022 18:24

M and S Pea and mint
Baxter's Spicy parsnip
Sainsburys Spicy tomato and lentil
Sainsburys/Co-op spicy 3 bean

Campbell's condensed celery is really good added in to chicken casseroles.

Branleuse · 01/11/2022 18:27

OhMerde · 01/11/2022 18:28

I'll try that thanks. I quite often have it with tuna and pasta too.

Strawberrysundaeonamonday · 01/11/2022 18:30

Asda lamb and mint hotpot chunky soup

Anotherselfemployedcleaner · 01/11/2022 18:42

Heinz tomato soup … but gives me acid reflux sometimes so a bit of a gamble, and Baxter’s is a safer option (but not QUITE as satisfying). With cheese on toast soldiers. :)

Baxters spicy parsnip

Heinz mulligatawny

Yorkshire Provender hearty roast chicken

Heinz lentil (definitely with mashed potato)

Tesco Tuscan bean or Tesco 3 bean chilli, both with root veg mash

One which has been TOTALLY ruined is Tesco Finest Moroccan inspired chicken. Was lovely, gentle heat and could definitely taste fruit - now overloaded with chilli, no fruitiness and full of gravelly bits of spices and whole peppercorns.

kimchifix · 01/11/2022 18:44

Only ever Heinz Cream of Tomato, but thinking about it I do actually quite like chunky vegetable - never buy it though.

Spanielsarepainless · 01/11/2022 18:46

Baxters asparagus soup, if I am feeling flush. French onion if not.
Heinz Scotch broth is very comforting.
Crosse and Blackwell Indian cauliflower is warming and a recent discovery.

My mother makes marvellous soup. So do I. But like most normal, non-perfect human beings, we don't always have the time or the energy to do it. Tinned or packet or carton soups are a useful store cupboard standby for those evenings or lunchtimes when time and/or motivation is short.

Hope this helps. Hmm

Ludo19 · 01/11/2022 18:54

Heinze tomato soup with a kick of chilli

OoooohMatron · 01/11/2022 19:01

I love a Heinz tomato with a dash of tabasco sauce and freshly ground black pepper.

PassingWhim · 01/11/2022 19:02

Baxter’s French onion

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 01/11/2022 19:03

I prefer those carton type soups - anything with daal or that’s spicy usually.

I haven’t never come across a tinned soup that I like but the Waitrose French onion sounds possible

SkylightSkylight · 01/11/2022 19:06

ParkheadParadise · 01/11/2022 16:28

I had this for lunch with Plain thick sliced white bread.
It was delicious.

Me too, after the 'how much soup' thread!!

@ItHasTheJuice Heinz Tomato with buttered bread! Yumm

ill eat pretty much any (vegetarian) soup. Except Croswell Brocolli & Stilton (a flavour I usually like!!)
