To be gobsmacked for being told off for picking up after my dog??

So this happened today. Out walking my dog, minding my own business. He decides he needs a poo so I stand next to him rifling in my pocket for a poo bag. A woman comes out of her house and walks towards her car. Stops dead in her tracks and glares at me. I say tentatively... hello? She says 'I would like to know what you're doing?' I reply.. well I'm just about to clean up after my dog. She replies'well I should think so!!' I was.. like.. well yep.. there you go! That's what I'm doing 🤷‍♀️She then says... don't even THINK about putting it in my bin!! I said I have absolutely no intention of putting it in your bin.. I have my own bin thanks!! Turning to pick up his poo.. she carries on. I can't believe you're just standing there, waiting for him to finish!! I snapped at this point and said what the hell is wrong with you?? What do you want me to do drag him down the street mid poo?? She then got in her car and shot off at about 60 mph! I mean come on! I've heard of dog owners being told off for leaving their dogs mess... but I still can't get my head around this!!! ( btw he is a very small dog and his poo is like raisins! I always pick up, even I think no one would even notice it.) AIBU to think the woman was absolutely crackers??

£100 says she's on MN.

RoseBucket · 31/10/2022 17:31

I would have said, of course I’m waiting for him to finish do you wipe your arse mid shit.?

junglejane66 · 31/10/2022 17:33

I'd have put it in her bin just to wind her up

vodkaredbullgirl · 31/10/2022 17:34

Maybe next time, say you will put a nappy on your dog.

Massiveaggressive · 31/10/2022 17:35

Before I had a dog I (no idea why) thought you could train a dog to go in a specific place and if I saw a dog in the street “randomly”pooing I probably would have done a very passive aggressive tut.

ProFannyTea · 31/10/2022 17:35

I'd go with bonkers yes.

Quincythequince · 31/10/2022 17:35

Well someone clearly pissed on her cornflakes didn’t they.

Maybe she was having a bad day… it happens. But YANBU to think ‘what the hell’…

sueelleker · 31/10/2022 17:37

She was hoping you'd walk away without picking it up, so that she could shout at you. You spoiled her plan.

I've heard of a tactical flush, but never a tactical wipe 😉😂😂😂

WhatJustHappened321 · 31/10/2022 17:39

I'm still baffled a few hours later. She was obviously in a vile mood. I was doing the right thing and got completely vilified! I forgot to say.. at the end when she was saying it's weird you're just standing there waiting for him to finish. She said.. it's kind of disgusting! And I used to have a dog!! I was speechless!

How would she have known? do people check what's in their bins on the offchance that some random has slung in their dogshit?

Cw112 · 31/10/2022 17:40

I bet she's had problems with others not lifting it or letting their dog go in her garden before and you've been the unlucky recipient of her frustration. Very unsure why she thought you wouldn't let the dog finish going though that's very bizarre...

WhatJustHappened321 · 31/10/2022 17:41

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain .. I literally carry the bag/s around til I get home and chuck em in my bin. They're as light as a feather... these aren't some great big turds he's curling out!!

Hah, we had something similar. A woman told us she hoped we wouldn’t put the bag in the bin on the street but would take it home with us instead. Smiled and nodded. Madness.

TrashyPanda · 31/10/2022 17:43

She’s clearly spoiling for a fight

WhatJustHappened321 · 31/10/2022 17:43

@sueelleker COMPLETELY agree with you. She was hoping to catch me out. But I was quite clearly prepared. So why start an argument?!

To be honest it is pretty repulsive seeing a dog shitting on the pavement, where people walk. Can't you take the dog to a woodland or your back garden?

VladmirsPoutine · 31/10/2022 17:44

I hate people who make themselves In Charge of The Public in the most unnecessary ways. It's very unnerving because it does catch you on the hop. I've learnt to just completely grey rock now. I won't rise to it, won't even smile or nod politely.

it rains
it is more repulsive to leave it

WhatJustHappened321 · 31/10/2022 17:46

@GoodVibesHere he does go in my garden and in the park. He's bound to go on the way there or back. Yes it's not the most pleasant part of owning a dog. But when nature calls.. there's not much I can do about it. Apart from pick it up?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 31/10/2022 17:46

and, i dont think people walk bare footed

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 31/10/2022 17:46

She'd come raring out of the house all fluffed up to tell you off for not picking up poo and wasn't able to change direction quickly enough so ended up sounding stupid. She should have just said Oh, ok then and left.

unfortunately we always walk in the woods but sometimes the dog does it on the road TO the woods… when they’ve got to go, they go! 🤣

I had something a bit similar once, but not quite so long winded and strange. Was waiting for dog to finish on a patch of grass and then bent down to start picking it up. There was some traffic nearby at red lights, and one of the drivers wound down his window to shout at me that I have better pick up that shit... As I was picking up that shit. I think he really wanted me to not pick it up so he could have a go at me. I just gave him a puzzled look and carried on with what I was doing.
