To think this is the worst virus about?

So it's not covid, tested negative as did DP.
But for a week now I have been wiped out. It started off as the typical flu. Body aches, shivvers, lathergy, cough ect ect. Now I'm extremely dizzy and faint and still have a fever. I've had both covid and flu before and they started to get better around day 3/4 not gradually worse!

Has anyone else caught this one and recovered recently? If so how long did it take? I'm so over feeling this way.

It doesn’t matter what the name of the virus is. You are ill and that’s that. Rest until you feel better.

justasking111 · 27/10/2022 13:35

www.nhs.uk/conditions/bird-flu/

Well this isn't reassuring

ReformedWaywardTeen · 27/10/2022 13:36

Yep, first DS, then me, now DD. All of us have taken multiple tests all of which were negative.

It's bloody horrible. My throat feels like it's made of and paper. I'm hot then cold, dizzy, can't sleep.

I'm trying to convince myself that at least we will get it out the way over half term and early in the season

Are you sure you don't now have sinusitis? My teeth started hurting on Tuesday and miraculously it was the same day I was booked in at the dentist for a check up. Explained to the dentist but he couldn't see anything that would be causing it and how I described the pain he said it sounds more like sinusitis which made a lot of sense as my face is sore under my eyes as well.

Hope not! I am now minus one tooth! 😟 It was one that has given me trouble for a while now, had root treatment etc a few years back.

But at least the pain is away (until the local wears of at least!)

BabyGrooverBug · 27/10/2022 13:43

I've also got "not-covid-but-fuck-me-its-awful" and I'm three weeks in still getting over it. It was worst for about 4 days but it's come and gone a few times.

Parter, kids and colleagues have all had it just as bad.

Silene · 27/10/2022 13:53

I had some kind of virus a month ago, second time, wheezing and coughing, rasping throat, eventually needed antibiotic, still exhausted, and then knee joints seized up, then stiff neck, sore fingers, aaarghh, still coughing, but hoping my knees are less stiff....murder going to the loo! These bugs seem to be going on and on.

BabyGrooverBug · 27/10/2022 13:58

Re the conjecture that it's covid. I'd have thought we would mostly have very strong resistance to Covid right now, whereas we may not have seen "not-covid-but-fuck-me-its-awful" for several years and therefore have low resistance.

So wouldn't the severity suggest it's not covid?

Dingalingo · 27/10/2022 14:00

Flu still exists..

PumpkinGhoul · 27/10/2022 14:03

My 5 year old DS has been like this since Sunday had a fever and still does.
He was shivering last night and keeps saying he's cold when his boiling bless him.
His nose is only now starting to stream and sneezing non stop.

To make matters worse he has autism so he can't fully tell me how he's feeling and what hurts just that he keeps saying he's cold and wants blanket horrible to see just want him to be better.

Croque · 27/10/2022 16:39

The only thing I would really like to know about it is whether it is possible to catch it a second time.

Croque · 27/10/2022 16:46

I'm not sure about the being-exposed-to-viruses-after-two-years line either as some of us were in crowded places throughout that period. I had covid several times and it was a walk in the park for me compared to this.

Luckynumbereight · 27/10/2022 16:55

I’m on day four and it is utter hell. Mine is combined with full on nausea. Every time I cough I want to vomit

Robekinobi · 27/10/2022 17:29

I have a not covid virus too - on day 7 but feel so much better today. Have never been as ill for so long. Really hacking smokers cough, high temp (39.9), sweats, chills, dizziness, nausea, headache... weirdly, paracetamol didn't appear to so anything which is unusual for me. have not knowingly had covid.

Pixiedust1234 · 27/10/2022 17:33

I had covid for just under two weeks, stayed inside until tested negative. Had 5 days of good health and then BAM! nearly another two weeks of hell. Had to get a gp appointment today due to not being able to breathe properly. It needs to go...

Flowerpicker1 · 27/10/2022 19:55

I had exactly this. It was covid. Day 14 and still testing positive. I'd re test if I were you

MUMOFTWO220 · 27/10/2022 22:47

We had this. My 4yo DS brought it home from school. He had it for 3 weeks and ended up with a fever causing him to have a febrile seizure 😭

Yahyahs22 · 27/10/2022 23:02

Few things. Still negative. Nausea comes and goes but I still feel like I'm very disconnected to the world. Hot flushes are still very much here. I had covid twice and it was a breeze in comparison. And someone said paracetamol did nothing, I thought it was just me! No medication is touching it. This is like covid on steroids for me.

Yahyahs22 · 27/10/2022 23:03

@MUMOFTWO220 oh my gosh im so sorry you had to deal with that how dreadful! I'm hoping your little one will make a full recovery and that horrible image of him convulsing fades!

Yankydoodledandy · 27/10/2022 23:15

OMG Ive just started a thread on chat about my DS having all Covid symptons and being really poorly but testing negative!!!!!!!!

ClaudineClare · 27/10/2022 23:20

I have had a horrible virus for nearly a week now, started with sore throat, then terrible cough, breathlessness. Been mainly in bed or on the sofa. I haven't been this ill for years. Have done three LFTs, all negative.

hiredandsqueak · 27/10/2022 23:26

My ds and dd both had it and were ill for a fortnight each. They were completely wiped out neither tested positive for Covid. I seem to have managed to avoid getting it so far.

Yankydoodledandy · 27/10/2022 23:31

It started 2 weeks ago with him...but seems worse now.

Is it a matter of getting through it, sleeping it off or will he need AB's?

chosenone · 27/10/2022 23:37

Into my third week! First week was the worst, shivers, aches, bad head etc but since then had every symptom going and good days and bad. Hoping I turn a corner this weekend 🤧

TheUsualChaos · 27/10/2022 23:50

On day 7. Absolutely sapped of energy. My appetite is coming back slowly but it's very hit or miss. Day 3 was the worst, just laid in bed and could barely move. Had to force myself to eat some toast.
Reading this thread I'm wondering if I need to test again for COVID but what difference does testing make now anyway? Either way, I've been too ill to go to work and I've stayed away from people.

FangsForTheMemory · 28/10/2022 00:02

I’ve got something that started off as a snotty sore throat and has moved to a truly awful cough, runny nose and a chest infection. Haven’t slept for three nights and feel shitty.
