To think DH comment about Liz Truss could be final straw?

DH can be a bit of an idiot. Getting more right wing in his old age. Went through a stage of reading a load of nonsense online. Jordan Peterson etc.

News was on. And he just turned to me and said

"I've been reading some alternative theory behind all this. And I think it may well be the globalists who have forced Truss out"

When I asked who these globalists were, he just said

"The people in charge. Jeremy Hunt. Banks"

When I started to question it, I could feel it was gonna get into an argument v quickly so I just left to do the laundry

Things have been bad for a while. How batshit barmy is this comment? To me it feels totally crazy. I don't know if I can be with someone who feels so distant in the way he thinks the world works.

What do others think? Am I being ott to think this is some seriously worrying shit coming out his mouth?

But the world is run by globalists. i actually have a lot of sympathy for his viewpoint. She threatened to upset the status quo and tried to save herself with that arch establishment figure of Jeremy Hunt. A lot of big corporations like BlackRock have borrowed lots of money at very low interest rates to buy up assets like property. She threatened their interests.

I spent a day with an old male friend and he was just as right wing. Used to be a lovely person. Turned out the only news he watches is GB news. Told me he was capable of filtering out the 'nonsense'.
I told him that people said the same about Hitler in the '30s.
I won't be spending time with him again.
It's why at 60 I'm single.

99 times out 100 when a right wing conspiracy theorist is talking about globalists they mean Jews.

@THisbackwithavengeance No, I said it was the final straw. And would I consider leaving my DH because he holds a world view that I think is paranoid and fuelled by right wing conspiracy nut jobs. Yes. Yes I would. I'm not sure I can stay married to someone I don't respect.

I was just interested as how others respond to this comment and any advice.

Politics affects us all.

Your husband much like you recognise has spent too much time drinking the cool aid wrt Jordan Peterson etc so this must be another comment in quite a long line of comments? It depends how far he's sunk and whether or not it's a deal breaker for you.

I wouldn't leave him unless his behaviour towards you has changed or your feelings for him have changed. People are entitled to have different opinions even if you disagree with them.

I don't know if he does mean Jewish people. I fucking hope he doesn't. I don't think he know what he means. The YouTubers he's watched might mean Jews but I think DH is being naive and paranoid and just is attracted to anything he thinks "goes against mainstream media" blah blah. I want to be supportive but I just think he sounds like such an idiot.

I do think Truss was put in to fail and make whoever comes next, in good time for the next election, look like a saviour. They're hoping no one notices that they've saved the party from themselves and/or the whole "Labour would be even worse" / "no one knows what Starmer stands for" rhetoric regains a hold if the Tories can look slightly more competent than what went before even if it was them

How was she threatening groups like BlackRock? I thought her policies would help that type?

comes from the idea that Jews were 'rootless cosmpolitans' who weren't necessarily loyal to the country of their birth. Henry Ford wall full of this shit in the 1920s.

Being distrustful of mainstream media is nothing wrong. So long as you formulate opinion based upon evidence. I don't trust the BBC but I certainly don't thrust some oik off YouTube either. Anti globalisation is a broad church of both left and right.

This happened to my dad. He's pretty much gone now and lost a lot of his relationships and put a strain on ours. I don't think it will get better any time soon OP

Can you encourage your husband to spend his time doing more active things so he can't watch shit on YouTube?

I listen to talk radio while working and a handful of men have admitted that they fell into that rabbit hole. The way out of it was to not watch that shit by either being busy or tired. However it took comments from more than one person around them to realise they fell into the rabbit hole.
