Tories are NOT on the side of women

I know the defence of Tories here often is 'at least they know what a woman is' - and they do.

But they use that knowledge of what a woman is to make our lives worse. Over 100 Tory MPs voted against a buffer zone on abortion clinics. They know we're adult human females, who can get pregnant, and they vote to allow us to be harassed because of that.

I'm also GC, and do not believe you can change sex. Gender - sure, I don't care how anyone wants to present or what they want to be called and am happy to oblige - but some things are separated on the basis of sex and should remain that way regardless of presentation.

That said, Tories are not on the side of women, and you need to he aware of that before voting for them based on this 1 issue.

You have to vote for who, on balance, is the least bad option. The Tories are not perfect on this issue but Labour have shown themselves to be much worse. People who voted Tory at the last election didn't necessarily think they were any good, just that they were the least terrible of a very terrible bunch.

FourTeaFallOut · 19/10/2022 14:40

I don't think anyone thought that Tories were 'on the side of women'. They just aren't currently active in trying to unravel the category of woman as a distinct sex class. Some people will vote based on this issue alone - that's up to them.

potniatheron · 19/10/2022 14:41

I hear you and I undertand what you're saying.

I still won't vote for a party whose leader thinsk my sex is something that can be put on and off like a costume.

I won't vote for a party who's star turn is 'girlmode' Eddie Izzard.

Absolutely SCREW Labour.

Yes, note I didn't tell anyone who to vote for, I'm just responding as a whole to everyone who trots this phrase out on a daily basis on here, and those who may read it and agree without the facts.

Tories may know what a woman is, but they're using that knowledge to attack us, not support us.

Other parties are just denying we exist altogether.

Isn't politics just wonderful for women right now?

I'm sure this will bring out the single issue voters.

frombarneslady · 19/10/2022 14:50

I will not ever vote Labour for a zillion reasons

donquixotedelamancha · 19/10/2022 14:54

'The Tories' are not one homogeneous group, any more than any other party. If that were the case we'd have to judge Labour by the behaviour of some deeply racist or misogynistic MPs and no one would ever vote for them.

I will vote Labour because to allow this shambles of a government to continue to harm the country is unconscionable but I sympathise with those who can't bring themselves to.

Ramblingnamechanger · 19/10/2022 14:55

I won’t vote for any party which thinks males in womens prisons/ refuges/ changing rooms is a great plan. And which disregards safeguarding.

Deguster · 19/10/2022 14:56

I will resolve any doubt in favour of the party that has delivered 3 female PM's over the party of Eddie Izzard and David "just grow a cervix" Lammy.

FWIW it will stick in my craw to do so, but not for any reason related to gender politics.

ReneBumsWombats · 19/10/2022 15:00

They all are! They all know what a woman is. The Tories are the only ones who aren't lying about it.

I don't vote Tory, but you need to see how crucial this issue is. The fact that you're so worried that so many women will vote based on it is grounds to lobby the other parties to bloody step up. We're not the ones who need lecturing.

If Labour get in, we'll know all about as they legislate for gender ideology. They are consumed by it.

bananapyjamas · 19/10/2022 15:07

The Tories are on the side of the wealthy. Always have been and always will be.

Really ?

Today we learn 45 babies died under their watch in East Kent NHS Trust, 45 women and families lives wrecked because of their and i quote Jeremy Hunt "we didn't fund maternity services" he said this when Chair of the Commons Health Committee.
This latest maternity scandal is after a long list of maternity scandals either started under the Tories or continued by them.

29 out of 30 newly trained midwives leave the profession, within a few years of starting their careers.

As Labour haven't been in power for 12 years, you don't know if they'd be worse, thats Belief vs Reality.

Trouble is the Govt act as if they ve only just got into power after 12 years of Labour and people like you believe this.

45 dead babies killed as a result of Conservative funding decisions vs Eddie Izzard? who isn't even a Labour candidate, let alone an MP.

FourTeaFallOut · 19/10/2022 15:21

Well you can start by watching how they treat their own MPs. Rosie Duffield was hounded for her gender critical opinions and the Labour Party stood back and allowed it to happen. It was cowardly and treacherous and tells me everything I need to know about the space they afford for blasphemous women with opinions about their own biology.

You do know which party introduced the GRA? And which party’s MPs who claim to protect women’s spaces voted against buffer zones outside abortion clinics? And also voted against continuing to give women the right to take abortion medication at home?

Beezknees · 19/10/2022 15:27

There are people literally starving and freezing to death under this government. I'll vote for the party that will get them out. Labour is the only option.

That'll be the Tories then - they are snd have been in charge - this is happening on their watch

LizTrussIsACylon · 19/10/2022 15:34

Tories might know what a woman is but they don't give a shit about your rights.

If the Tory party genuinely cared about safeguarding young girls they wouldn't have spent the last 12 years plunging millions of children into poverty.

The only thing the Tories care about is making their wealthy backers more money.

Posters on here who claim the Tories will safeguard women are hopelessly naive (and, frankly, mostly Tory bots).

VladmirsPoutine · 19/10/2022 15:36

I genuinely don't think anyone who votes for the Tories because they know what a woman is should be allowed a vote. Of course the tories couldn't give a toss about trans issues. They're happy to starve kids, cut welfare and send refugees to Rwanda - the reason they can happily call a transwoman a 'man' isn't because they care about women.

KimberleyClark · 19/10/2022 15:39

walkersareback · 19/10/2022 15:28

So do I.

FourTeaFallOut · 19/10/2022 15:42

Oh, here we go again. This person should get a vote, that person I disagree with shouldn't. The puritanical reflex of MN posters read like the start of a dystopian novel.

lifeturnsonadime · 19/10/2022 15:44

What a time to be a woman.

Not one political party values us. But saying this in an attempt to make me believe that labour is a defender of women's rights is laughable..

They are going to introduce self ID which means that any man who says he is a woman is one. This has dire consequences for vulnerable women. In countries where this is law women are being raped by men in womens refuges.

torontosun.com/news/provincial/hunter-exclusive-sex-offender-who-ids-as-woman-busted-for-shelter-attack/wcm/426228a4-1036-457d-899a-98003fb74bd7/amp/

This is state sanctioned rape and is entirely foreseeable.

I don't think the Tories give a shit about women, I think Labour care even less. You are kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
