Won’t let DH keep shoes on entry shoe rack

Yes, there is a shoe rack in my house’s entryway, but I would prefer to only keep one pair of shoes per person there. I begrudgingly let DH keep two of his pairs there. He says it’s inefficient to not fill the rack completely and wants to keep more there. But the entryway is not a closet! AIBU?

I can't get over you "letting" your husband keep two pairs of shoes there.

NoSquirrels · 14/10/2022 19:35

Are you Marie Kondo?

Ponoka7 · 14/10/2022 19:36

Is it only your house? Why are you in charge?

Hurrayforfridays · 14/10/2022 19:36

You say the entryway is not a closet but if you've put a shoe rack there why wouldn't you use it?

FionnulaTheCooler · 14/10/2022 19:36

We have a shoe cabinet at the door and its full, probably about 3 pairs per family member there. Isn't that what its there for?

Thrownunderabus · 14/10/2022 19:37

What’s the point of a shoe rack if not to put shoes on? Confused

Michellexxx · 14/10/2022 19:37

I'm sorry but I am actually laughing out loud to this! You would never imagine yourself, young and searching for love and a husband, to end up fighting over how many pairs of shoes are allowed on a rack.

I am certainly capable of pettiness, and my husband is pure practicality, but I think having a handful of pairs is ok.

Are you Marie Kondo?

😂

luxxlisbon · 14/10/2022 19:38

Do people really live like this? It’s a shoe rack for god sake, it’s for shoes!
Let the man put his shoes there instead of abiding by the bizarre rules you have made up.

SlashBeef · 14/10/2022 19:39

I would store all my shoes in the rack if you told me I wasn't allowed to.

StillNotWarm · 14/10/2022 19:40

Buy a smaller shoe rack.
If the space is there it should be used. 4 pairs each here

MinervaTerrathorn · 14/10/2022 19:40

I'd expect to fully use it but not so it looks crowded and untidy.

Pixiedust1234 · 14/10/2022 19:41

One row per user. They fill it or not.

Actually my dd and dh have two rows each but I only have one. It made me realise my husband has more shoes and more coats than three women put together (other dd moved out, first dd took over her row).

NerrSnerr · 14/10/2022 19:42

Have you written him an official rule book? Do you have coat hooks? How many coats is he allowed on there?

Mistywindow · 14/10/2022 19:43

Bloody hell. If you told me I could only keep one pair of shoes on a rack with space for more I would keep all my shoes on there and stack them as high as I could.

Controlling, much?!

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 14/10/2022 19:43

When he decides to leave them lying about on the doormat or in the corridor then I hope you'll remember that he wanted to use the shoe rack but you wouldn't "allow" him to.

thelobsterquadrille · 14/10/2022 19:43

Why do you get the final say?

chineapplepunks · 14/10/2022 19:44

If someone had said "My husband only lets me keep one pair of shoes on the shoe rack." this thread would be filled with LTB 😂

Yes you are being unreasonable. It's a shoe rack. Literally a place to put shoes.

thistimelastweek · 14/10/2022 19:44

Is this a decorative shoe rack?

CapMarvel · 14/10/2022 19:45

What the actual fuck.

countrygirl99 · 14/10/2022 19:45

Are you thos controlling about everything?

Squishedstormtrooper · 14/10/2022 19:46

Surely life is too short to be arguing over a shoe rack?

NoSquirrels · 14/10/2022 19:47

thistimelastweek · 14/10/2022 19:44

Is this a decorative shoe rack?

Perhaps it’s crying out for a stunt pineapple instead

TheFairyCaravan · 14/10/2022 19:47

Imagine telling your husband where he can keep his shoes in his own house?

It's a shoe rack not an ornament.

Fladdermus · 14/10/2022 19:48

Stealth boasting about having a DH who knows what a shoe rack is? I'd be over joyed if my DH starting putting any of his shoes on the shoe rack.
