Won’t let DH keep shoes on entry shoe rack

Yes, there is a shoe rack in my house’s entryway, but I would prefer to only keep one pair of shoes per person there. I begrudgingly let DH keep two of his pairs there. He says it’s inefficient to not fill the rack completely and wants to keep more there. But the entryway is not a closet! AIBU?

You sound like the kind of household that as a teen I'd have hated to visit. Zero fun. Just saying.

TabithaTittlemouse · 14/10/2022 19:48

Did he sign a contract when storing the first two pairs?

What else is he not permitted to do?

XPD · 14/10/2022 19:49

Hahaha the wine is out...

Give the poor bloke a break, it's a SHOE rack. Not like he's putting them in the oven.

emmetgirl · 14/10/2022 19:50

You sound like fun to live with.

He’s not allowed to use the oven. It is for decorative purposes only.

ilovepixie · 14/10/2022 19:51

Why are you the boss of shoes?

Fennellathewitch · 14/10/2022 19:51

I have no head space for this type of thing? Should I be rationing shoe space? Will I feel better if I do? So many questions

maryberryslayers · 14/10/2022 19:51

YANBU!! We have a small shoe rack by the door and a huge one in the shoe/coat cupboard. The one by the door is for 'immediate' shoes ie the ones you are wearing that day or plan to wear the next.
DH leaves multiple pairs of his stupid massive shoes on there despite requests not to. I just shove them on to the big rack whilst muttering to myself. Unless he leaves them behind the door so that it won't open properly, then I hide them!

MysweetAudrina · 14/10/2022 19:53

Be thankful he puts them on the shoe rack. I have an empty shoe rack and about 15 pairs of shoes just fucked on the floor.

Hugasauras · 14/10/2022 19:54

IT'S ORNAMENTAL

FictionalCharacter · 14/10/2022 19:54

Oh, is it troll o’clock already?

Dragonskin · 14/10/2022 19:56

Wow. Yes YABVU

Fladdermus · 14/10/2022 19:48

Stealth boasting about having a DH who knows what a shoe rack is? I'd be over joyed if my DH starting putting any of his shoes on the shoe rack.

😃

Allmarbleslost · 14/10/2022 19:57

Fuck me. I think he should ltb

TheHoover · 14/10/2022 19:57

Had to google Marie Kondo.
Mind boggling at the prospect of people earning a living being ‘Organising Consultants’.
I expect all her customer are people who are already anal as fuck but desperately want advice on how they can be even more anal.

StupidSmallFruit · 14/10/2022 19:58

Seriously….?

I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt, because if you are actually trolling Mumsnet about a shoe rack, life is obviously so bad for you that your mental health must be in the gutter.

Shoes in the entrance way look awful.

Remove the shoe rack entirely, and you solve the problem.

If you want the shoe rack, YAB completely U not to fill it.

Surroundedbyfools · 14/10/2022 19:59

Pick ur battles. This is just a waste of energy. If there’s space and ur shoes still fit just let him crack on !!

HideousKinky · 14/10/2022 19:59

I don't get it.
If there's space on the shoe rack for more shoes, why not use it?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/10/2022 20:00

Could he compromise and keep one shoe of each pair on the rack?

Then everybody will be happy!

LynetteScavo · 14/10/2022 20:00

Whew does he keep his shoes if not on the shoe rack? What if he wants to go out in shoes that are not on the shoe rack? Do you only allow nice shoes on the shoe rack?

I am very curious about shoe storage- I have an under stairs cupboard full of shoes, and I'm sure there must be a better way.

Ekátn · 14/10/2022 20:01

Can’t imagine even noticing how many pairs of shoes each person had on a half filled shoe rack.

Cas112 · 14/10/2022 20:01

What is wrong with you?

AlwaysLatte · 14/10/2022 20:02

Micromanagement at its finest.

Cas112 · 14/10/2022 20:02

I dread to think what your actual like to live with if your like this over a shoe rack

BendingSpoons · 14/10/2022 20:02

I get (irrationally) annoyed if DH has more pairs than me on the shoe rack, as there is less space for mine. I like a selection of footwear to grab as I go out.
