Not to like the Globe Theatre calling me a bitch?

OK, not to my face. But following the non-binary Joan of Arc play they’ve shared a ‘terfs stop being transphobic challenge’ referring to anyone who doesn’t believe in gender identity as a bitch.

It’s a shame. I’ve been to some amazing plays at the Globe. But they’ve made their position on feminists pretty clear, so I won’t be going back.

And that’s what happens when you hand your social media accounts over to the intern who a) generally inhabits an online fantasy world of pastel animé where no-one must ever feel unsafe and b) thinks this is an appropriate platform for their personal views.

Yes!!

FrancescaContini · 05/10/2022 23:43

Oh Alex Curry, that’s the most atrocious poem I’ve ever read. How old are you? Tip: using swear words doesn’t make you sound cool; it makes you sound very dim. HTH.

WandaWomblesaurus · 05/10/2022 23:44

Vogon poetry

Passmethewhat · 05/10/2022 23:46

OP can I ask how you came across this poem?

FrancescaContini · 05/10/2022 23:49

TrashyPanda · 05/10/2022 23:22

Shakespeare said it best (no surprise there)

It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing

This is superb.

Itstheeconomystupid · 05/10/2022 23:49

That "poem" seems to be brimful of hate, and the author is very keen on telling women what to do and swearing at them. Can't believe the Globe has sunk so low.

purpleboy · 05/10/2022 23:50

That is a bloody awful poem! I would be so embarrassed sharing that, but these idiots have no shame, or moral compass, it's such a great way to proudly show their hatred of women, all in the name of inclusivity.
Slow clap for all those cheering it on.🙄

ColeensBoot · 05/10/2022 23:50

That was the poem published on the globe tweet. They have since this evening taken it down.

Passmethewhat · 05/10/2022 23:51

You do know that Shakespeare wrote about things such as murder and gangs?

Athenajm80 · 05/10/2022 23:51

I think I worked out who Alex Curry really is. I mean, it's obvious really with that level of poetic talent.

Do you weep, J.K. Rowling, do you weep ...

Bravo 😆😆😆😆😆

Fishandchipsupper · 05/10/2022 23:54

my heart sinks every time I see something like this. The Globe rubber stamping ageist and misogynistic bile. the misogyny creeps out of every crevice.

jewishmum · 06/10/2022 00:03

Typical brainwashed entitled drivel.

OverArmour · 06/10/2022 00:07

’to question my authority’ about covers it.

Thinking The Globe might need a name change to The Flat Earth.

I think the vipers know that yes.

Who knows we may even read, studied and watched plays by Shakespeare. Possibly some of us may teach Shakespeare.

There is actually a surprising amount of things that older women know, have done and may currently be doing.

Thankfully however Shakespeare didn't write drivel such as the poem highlighted below.

Discovereads · 06/10/2022 00:18

wackamole · 05/10/2022 22:43

Oh, hell no, Juno.

Do you tell black people that racial slurs are totally OK, because only a n+++++ would mind being called that? Do you tell Jewish people that k+++ is OK, and Muslims that r+++++ is fine - if you weren't one you wouldn't mind, right? What about gay people - no harm in f+++++ if you're not one, right? Or disabled people - hey, only those OTHER disabled people are c+++s right? No harm done? Everybody's "that thing", right - except for people who behave exactly how you want?

Or are you JUST a misogynist, Juno, and so you don't mind women being called a rape apologist and rape-normalising slur like TERF?

Lol the audacity to equate calling a Black person the N word to the use of “TERF” It’s not a misogynist rape apologist whatever slur, it’s not even a slur! And what has rape even got to do with it. Honestly.

Hoardasurass · 06/10/2022 00:21

Wow that's some shit poetry

Discovereads · 06/10/2022 00:23

I’m sickened by the pretence that strong women who refuse to enact feminine stereotypes are therefore ‘non-binary’, ie not female

Thats actually called gender nonconforming not a gender identity of nonbinary.

Hoardasurass · 06/10/2022 00:24

@Discovereads terf is a slur and is used normally by violent TRAs along with death and rape threats as I'm certain that you know this already if not "educate yourself "

Didn't he write this?

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.

That's a bit of a slur you're making yourself there.

Rainbowshit · 06/10/2022 00:38

@Discovereads TERF was likened to a racial slur in a court recently.

So what is terf if it’s not turf?
