OK, not to my face. But following the non-binary Joan of Arc play they’ve shared a ‘terfs stop being transphobic challenge’ referring to anyone who doesn’t believe in gender identity as a bitch.

It’s a shame. I’ve been to some amazing plays at the Globe. But they’ve made their position on feminists pretty clear, so I won’t be going back.

As for male pseudonyms, what about George Sand (Amantine Lucile Aurore Dupin)? And Edith Pargeter wrote both under her own name and under the name Ellis Peters (the Brother Cadfael detective novels).

Those are the ones I can think of at the moment.

So was Tolkien a man, as he used initials, or a woman pretending to be a man by using initials? Did we ever discover which initials meant you were a man?

Pass has the concept of using a pseudonym for writing really passed you by? Are you that ignorant? JKR knows full well she is female through and through. If she chooses a male pseudonym for writing it isn't because she is gender confused.

J K Rowling has been very clear that she doesn't mind what names people call themselves.

Not that she's identifying as a man when writing as J.K. or Robert. Nor is she claiming to have changed sex. But she recognises that trans (and all) people can choose what names they like.

I’ve just read through this whole thread, and I think that pass has actually given the worst TRA argument I’ve ever heard, and believe me, that’s saying something.

I just want a TRA to come out and say ‘yes rise, I think you were raped by a woman, by ‘her’ penis, you should refer to your rapist with she/her pronouns, and if you ever took them to court and they were convicted they should be locked up in a woman’s prison’.
I bang on about my experience (I suppose I ‘weaponise it’ a la JKR) because I want a TRA to say this out loud, just to show what their cause advocates for.

Because even though my brave and stunning rapist lived as a man when he attacked me, he ‘always knew she was a woman’. And the fact that he now runs a group for gender questioning teens, well that’s just fine, because now he’s ‘living his (sorry her) truth’. Now he’s living as a woman I’m sure ‘she’ presents no risk to any teenagers, I’m sure the horrendous things he put me through were just a blip in his journey to finding his true self. Fucker.

So I’m fine being a TERF, and I’m fine being a bitch, if being these things mean that I’m on the side of women, then they’re a badge of honour. I will never fuck over women for the approval of men. Whether they’re right wing women, left wing women, women who voted Leave, or women who voted Remain. I don’t care. I will stand for women and I will until the day I die.
