Not to like the Globe Theatre calling me a bitch?

OK, not to my face. But following the non-binary Joan of Arc play they’ve shared a ‘terfs stop being transphobic challenge’ referring to anyone who doesn’t believe in gender identity as a bitch.

It’s a shame. I’ve been to some amazing plays at the Globe. But they’ve made their position on feminists pretty clear, so I won’t be going back.

It's only offensive if you're the thing they're talking about. If you're truly not transphobic or trans-exclusionary then surely you wouldn't take offense...

i am a TERF, hope that helps

ZiriForEver · 05/10/2022 22:55

Wtf? This is crime against art.

Even seen as a pure activism it is quite bad.

Nothing unreasonable to not like it.

ChandlersDad · 05/10/2022 22:55

Oh God, that poem 🤣
slightly surprised it wasn’t written by Adrian Mole

Do you weep, J.K. Rowling, do you weep ... Grin

Honeylover333 · 05/10/2022 23:02

I’m sickened by the pretence that strong women who refuse to enact feminine stereotypes are therefore ‘non-binary’, ie not female. That includes most of the feminists I know, for a start, and we are feminists because we are women. Shame on those who persuade young women that their lack of interest in playing ‘feminine’ roles unsexes them.

Your loss 🤷

The only Turf I understand is what I lay in gardens, used to play Rugby on, play Bowls on now and very rarely watch horses racing on. That is the only Turf anyone should be acknowledging not made up meaningless nonsense like Terf whatever that is when it’s not out!

Actually properly guffawed at that!

Supersimkin2 · 05/10/2022 23:09

‘My beauty astounds them’

MN Classics, surely.

pombear · 05/10/2022 23:12

Put this in another thread, but just parking it here too.

My heart is so sad.

That these young women look across the years and see us older women as bitches.

Not seeing the young women we were, and the invisible women we are now, who defied gender stereotypes.

Who were lucky enough to live in a small sliver of the corner of the world where we existed, where we got to break out of small corners of those boxes.

"It makes them so blind that they can't see the path down which they're being lead is another fucking path being paved by fucking men"

That resonates, but not in the way I think the writer intended.

Oh the irony 😫

Hi Honeylover, I’m an older woman and must admit that I haven’t informed myself about a lot of the gender identity stuff. But I’m perplexed by your opinion that if you are a woman but not adhering to feminine steroptypes, you are called ‘nonbinary’. I thought that ‘non-binary’ was something you get to call yourself or not, depending on how you feel yourself to be.

StressedToTheMaxxx · 05/10/2022 23:14

Jesus. How embarrassing for them. No wonder they've deleted it.

That is like a greeting card "poem" gone toxic.

Imagine thinking Shakespeare's theatre is the place for such sanctimonious tribalism. Worrying .

Have you read any of Shakespeare's works?

I suppose you could pretend that he was a nice British gent with not a dark thought in his head if you struggled with comprehension

wackamole · 05/10/2022 22:43

Oh, hell no, Juno.

Do you tell black people that racial slurs are totally OK, because only a n+++++ would mind being called that? Do you tell Jewish people that k+++ is OK, and Muslims that r+++++ is fine - if you weren't one you wouldn't mind, right? What about gay people - no harm in f+++++ if you're not one, right? Or disabled people - hey, only those OTHER disabled people are c+++s right? No harm done? Everybody's "that thing", right - except for people who behave exactly how you want?

Or are you JUST a misogynist, Juno, and so you don't mind women being called a rape apologist and rape-normalising slur like TERF?

Well Bloody Said! @wackamole

CatNamedEaster · 05/10/2022 23:17

I've seen various threads talking about 'interns' being in charge of social media accounts when crap like this comes out. I think that trivialises something that can have serious consequences.

My previous employer was involved in a very high profile (trended globally) thread on Twitter relating to trans issues that exploded into MSM and had huge ramifications for many people involved. I went into work the next morning expecting there to be junior heads rolling and leadership team emails denying all knowledge, but instead we found out it had been instigated by the leadership team themselves.

It blew my mind to find out it had been a deliberate targeted tweet and it made me never assume that these things are down to error or lack of monitoring of juniors. They could easily be result of the direction that leaders of that company actually want to take.

fallinover · 05/10/2022 23:18

That is a truly terrible poem.
But I do like a poem so bad I start laughing so I'd have to give some points for that.

Passmethewhat · 05/10/2022 23:18

The Marketing manager at The Globe earlier:

To delete or not to delete; that is the question.

TrashyPanda · 05/10/2022 23:19

Wow, that “poem” is awful.

who would put their name to such a pile of piss?

Passmethewhat · 05/10/2022 23:21

Fair is foul and foul is fair
Who the fuck are we letting in here?

TrashyPanda · 05/10/2022 23:22

Shakespeare said it best (no surprise there)

It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing

Passmethewhat · 05/10/2022 23:24

The manager when she had hit 'Submit' on her poem:

OUT DAMNED SPOT!

heyyahhhh · 05/10/2022 23:25

Arya stark from game of thrones reminds me of joan of ark. I seen a comment on twitter a while back from a young 'non binary' who said 'what ever gender arya stark is thats me' i commented 'Arya stark didnt know what gender was, she was just a bad ass female' , didnt get a reply, hopefully planted a seed :)

Passmethewhat · 05/10/2022 23:28

What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet

RandomCatGenerator · 05/10/2022 23:37

The lion, the witch and the audacity of this bitch is quite a well known meme…
