To wash pyjamas after each wear?

I wash my pyjamas after every wear, however this leads to LOADS of laundry every week… I’m wondering if I can cut down by wearing my pjs longer? They don’t smell but I’m not sure if this would be gross through, like I don’t wear knickers under them … So is it the same territory as rewearing dirty pants??🤔

How often do you wash your pyjamas? Like what is the normal pyjama etiquette? Would I be a complete tramp to put back on my dirty pjs?

Am I being unreasonable?

Poor planet.
Assuming they’re not skin tight you can go a lot longer. Maybe turn them inside and air them during the day?

@Willbe2under2 Absolutely spot on post!

I wear PJs for a week (except when we had the really high temps last month), but I wear knickers underneath though.

I wear mine for 3 or 4 days. Same for the kids. I wear underwear though.

Can you wear underwear under them? Then they'll go more than one wear without bring washed.

I used to change mine every other night, but have started going 3 nights now, with knickers. DCs are worn until they’re actually dirty.

This is why I've switched to nighties.

No knickers to bed here (always used to then I discovered how much more comfortable and cleaner I feel without!) but yes I wash pj's after each wear. Also shower every night.

I wash mine once a week. I do wear knickers in bed though.

I think cutting down on your washing is a good way to tackle the rise in energy prices (not to mention better for the environment and a time saver for you!).

Wow so much laundry! All these knicker wearers - are they fresh knickers every night or the same ones for 24 hrs?

op I am a very loose pyjama or nightie wearer - no knickers - and I wear them 2-3 days

Surely they must be fresh ones for the night

I have the same pyjama habits as you, though! Smile much prefer a nightie

Mumsnet = I only wear anything once before washing, change sheets weekly and wash my towels daily! Everything else is disgusting

Also mumsnet = my bills are skyrocketing, the environment is going to pot and I have too much washing and never get a break.

OP I wear my pyjamas for a week unless they get dirty and need it before then or there's a change in temperature so want different ones.

This.

The hygiene anxiety on Mumsnet is out of this world. Could be the end of this world.

I wear mine for 5-7 days this time of year. Less if I'm poorly or had a lazy day and wore them for a lot of the day.
Always wear pants in bed though.

Clean PJs every night for DS (5) and me. I have four or so sets of PJs so not like one on, one in the wash.

Wash them when they need it. Not before. I can go a week sometimes in

In the winter. (Sorry the button was right above my keyboard and typing isn't the easiest for me).

If you sweat a lot then yeah change them more regularly.

Wearing them once would give s give build up of laundry.
i wear mine 3 nights eight underwear. (I am fortunate to not sweat very much)

I never understand why people don’t wear knickers to bed due to ‘airing’. How much air are your bits going to get trapped under a thick duvet?
A pair of cotton knickers isn’t going to make the slight bit of difference to ‘airing’

Yeah that's confused me too.

Where is the air flow?

Nighties and clean knickers. My nighties will go several days.

I rarely keep mine on all night so don't feel the need to wash them daily. No pants in bed either, too uncomfortable.
I have a shower every morning so start the day clean regardless of how fresh my bedclothes are.

I usually wear knickers with pjs as I find the seams on pj bottoms can rub! I wear them for a few nights, but it varies, depending how hot I've got in the night, if I've spilt breakfast or toothpaste on them etc.
I think I'd wear for a few nights even without knickers though, it doesn't seem the same as walking around in clothes during the day.

Incredibly wasteful. Sorry.

Never understood people who do this. I wear mine for whole week.

in the winter I would happily go a fortnight between washes. More is mad!

my guide for laundry has always been driven by hand washing. If I had to wash by hand, how often would i do it? Not very often!!

Pyjamas for about 4 days with knickers underneath
