Tradesperson inviting people into my home

Currently got a tradesperson in to do a job. They quoted me a day rate of 8 days work (which I think will take less time than that, but they're the expert...)

Anyway, that's not my AIBU. I checked my security footage this week and noticed a woman popped round to my house when I was out and tradesperson was working alone in my house. I can only see her walk past my front door to the back garden gate, she knocks and then the feed ends. She's seen leaving 4 hours later. The next day, same thing, except 3 hours.

At present the tradesperson gets here for about 8am and has already stopped working by 3pm. So that's 7 hours of work, fair enough, but 4 (and 3) of them an unknown woman here is (it's not his wife, I did a little social media digging and it's not her).

AIBU if I question him about it next week? He still has 4 days left to finish the job next week and I don't l like the fact there's an unknown and univited person in my house when I'm not there, plus, how much work can he really be doing if his "mate" is there for 4 hours.

I have no shame when it comes to having uncomfortable or awkward conversations.

I no you said you didn't want to put the camera to see them having the actual sex but I would op.otherwise it's still excuse city.you don't have to watch it to irafutbly no via 🙉 peeking out yoyr eyes that there is proof right there of sexual activityor whatever it is .if your still positioning outside or somewhere they are just entering and leaving it won't stand.if you get actual proof game over.

I definitely think that if you are paying him a day rate, you need to work out how many hours she was at your house and tell him you aren’t paying that money.

He’s clearly having an affair in your house. The fact he’s bought his own fluffy blanket is the only silver lining here…

Also is he on truat a pilot or rwview sites.after this concludes others needs to be told.or trading standards.
I no u want the job done.muat be infuriating.but if he's broken your trust here what else is he doing or not doing right.

Anyone managed to come up with a plausible explanation yet?

It's a criminal offence to film someone engaging in sexual activity without their consent. Hence why my cameras will only be pointing within my own property's boundaries where I reasonably expect sex not to occur.

You can use this to your advantage.

When it comes to bill paying time, say your deducting the time his visitor came , when he went to get blankets from his van, as he obviously wasn't working then.

Say you have no desire to interfere in his private life, but at the same time you are not going to be paying for it either.

If he kicks off say you have saved footage that can be used in any legal dispute or official ombudsman complaint.

I might do a review post after I've used the recording equipment to say how well (or not) they worked. 🤣

I’d take off a day rate off the job.
I had similar with a kitchen fitter, phone lines to sex workers. Left the phone number on my newspaper, so I rang it.
Phoned him and said, now I know why you’ve taken 3 weeks to do the tiniest kitchen in the universe. Stop wanking and crack on with the bloody work. Went from thinking he was a sweet but shit builder to completely violated.
I would probably turn up if you see her on camera. If you’re paying a day rate, he’s really fucking cheeky. As a pp said, trades hate taking on other's unfinished work and usually quite more to not. Trades are in demand. Including with ladies in floaty pleated skirts.

Okay, I really can’t wait for Tuesdays update . And I definitely won’t be paying for the time he hasn’t been working especially since you have proof of it

Okay my fellow Mumsnetters, I have a child to look after and I've only managed 3 hours sleep last night, so I'm off to make a coffee and start my day. Thankfully my partner got up with little one this morning so I could lie in bed and contemplate my life's choices and read your messages.

But is it still a criminal offence to obtain security footage of your OWN HOME where you would very reasonably NOT be expecting to record anyone having sex?

Could she be from building regs?
