To be heartbroken about Douglas Henshall not being a lovely guy I thought he was.

Just that really.
Love him in Shetland. Followed him on Twitter and found out he is not a nice guy at all. Quite shocking tweets to be honest - and he's been like that for years!
I know about actors being different people to their characters, but somehow I imagined him being more like Jimmy Perez and less like a prick he seems to be. I am genuinely upset.

I'm really upset so well. I thought Boris Johndon would be like a lovely cuddly bouncy Labrador. Turns out he's an utter c u next Tuesday. In despair.

I don't know.. Just some really angry, nasty things he's been saying. Not something you'd expect from a normal, mature human being. There are loads of things really. I'm really disappointed, that's all.

OP I know the language isn’t nice but are you from Glasgow?

I am and maybe I’m hardened to it but it’s pretty standard language for Celtic fans to refer to Rangers fans. The Rangers fans regularly call Celtic fans fenians, tims, tarriers.

i don’t really bat an eyelid.

Huns is a sectarian slur in Glasgow, something Dougie Henshall would be well aware of and really not a great thing to say especially at old firm (Celtic v Rangers) time.

Huns are Rangers fans. Rangers were beaten 4-0 by Celtic at the weekend. Tweeting that you love to see the Huns take a kicking, is seen by many as stoking up the sectarian hatred which is endemic in west central Scotland.

Not a nice man.

It's a Celtic v rangers thing. Catholics v Protestant.

You're better off out of it, both sides blame each other. He's just another of the many twats that buy into it.

The Huns tweet is not what I found upsetting. It's loads of his other tweets with cunts and pricks and deserving to die in fire.
Maybe I'm too peral-clutchy, I don't know...

The C of E example isn't very compelling. He's allowed to call the CoE the c-word if he likes. Is there something more heinous?

Okay on your latest example he's clearly just very free with the c-word. Some people are. Presumably his sense of humour. Not for everyone but doesn't fit with the implications of your title, which sounded like he beat up women or something really awful. he'd done. He might be lovely but also sweary. Or he might be a cunt, who knows! Hard to judge him on Tweets as they're often another character people play, in their way. More like him that a fictional TV character, but still not the truth.

Im not sure why people hold up actors and pop stars as somehow different to the rest of the population

Normal language for normal people, I dont really know what Huns means although others have said above what it is, not sure why Huns, I thought that was a German nickname
