Love him in Shetland. Followed him on Twitter and found out he is not a nice guy at all. Quite shocking tweets to be honest - and he's been like that for years!
I know about actors being different people to their characters, but somehow I imagined him being more like Jimmy Perez and less like a prick he seems to be. I am genuinely upset.

Most of it doesn't. I honestly have never heard the word used by Henshall in that context before, and I can't remember which colour is supposed to represent which. Although I know theres some issue with traffic lights changing colour.

I think its mainly in areas which had high levels of Irish immigration at one time, but I could be wrong. Honestly baffled by it, its not part of my culture at all.

Sandy is a born Shetlander with a genuine Shetland accent.

My mother is from Shetland and every time a Glaswegian appeared on tv, her and my mother used to go "Thats a disgrace, speaking like that" . I still have family there who claim to be unable to understand a word that Nicola Sturgeon says. I know she's not from Glasgow, but its still "west".

The accent is because it used to be part of Norway.

I honestly thought it was the other way round! Which one's green and which one's red? Apparently, traffic lights near the football stadium in Glasgow used to get attacked when changing colour by some particularly inspired fans. Or is that an urban myth?

Some bits do - roughly some of Glasgow, central belt and Ayrshire with a wee bit in Edinburgh. Not really such an issue further north in my experience though the football side of it probably spreads a bit further, especially as Celtic and Rangers have dominated Scottish football for so long. Parents have a choice of denominational (Catholic) or non-denominational state schools in each town (kids will be in catchment for one of each). I’ve come to it as a relative outsider having moved to Glasgow area as an adult and it doesn’t affect me day to day at all but it’s certainly something I’m aware of bringing up teenage boys.

I felt a bit like this about Rowan Atkinson. Always liked him, grew up with him as Blackadder, seemed decent and a bit cool to me. I don’t really keep up with slebs so only recently found out he shat on his wife from what seems to be a dizzying height with a much younger woman. Not cool.

Other places have religious divides under the guise of sport, Liverpool, Manchester for starters. It used to be said half jokingly that only Catholics could play for Manchester United.

Slightly off subject I'm watching a very old episode of Dalziel and Pascoe, I couldn't put a name to a familiar looking face, turned out to be........ young Henshall sounding not at all Scottish.

I think all actors are disappointing. They play strong action types but are generally thesps with a high sense of self importance. Guess you need that to survive in that industry.

I don't really like anyone ranty on social media and it changes my opinion of them.

I'm from a north -east, Catholic family and wasn't aware of it at all but my husband from Glasgow says it was a very big thing. I think the difference is whether it's Irish immigrant Catholics or Scottish families who never converted, mine is the latter.

I'm sure DH was in something a few years ago (maybe with suranne jones and Tom Ellis) they had lost a child and moved into a creepy house. These dead Victorian children were communicating with her, there was a creepy spinning top which went on its own. I think DH was some kind of malevolent Victorian schoolmaster ghost in it. With a cane and creepy pale eyes. It took me ages to trust Perez as a nice guy after that. Of course I know they are just playing a character

What does knapping mean? I can't tell whether you think his accent is OK or not. Other pp have said he comes from Shetland and his accent is genuine.
