Is this dress "slutty"? (Their words not mine)

I ask because, in MNspeak, a "close female relative" described it as such.

For context this is not my normal attire, I am currently wearing black skinnies and a Def Leppard Tshirt! But I have been invited to a "Come as you were" fancy dress party. I didnt really have a clue what to wear and was toying with going out and out silly and wearing something a 1970's little girl might wear when I found this for £6 in TKMaxx. Big hair, make up put on with a trowel, heels, more make up and enough perfume to kill an elephant....job done, clubbing early 90's me! Not that I did much clubbing but ya know, artistic licence!

She says that it would look ok on either of older two daughters as they are early twenties but it is "inappropriate and slutty on a woman of your age". I told her it was fancy dress and a laugh but she is deeply disapproving. In hindsight, me saying "Oh good, perhaps I'll pull then" to the slutty comment wasnt the best thing I could have said!

So....AIBU to wear it?

It was funny when I had it on though. It wasnt as short of some of the things I have worn when I was much younger but I was still doing that "pulling it down at the back" thing!

Looks ok. I don't love the pattern as it's a bit outdated, but definitely wouldn't consider that slutty. It's not a pattern that what I would consider "slutty" and arms are covered and it's not too short either.

It's just a dress. It looks good on you. Calling anyone or anything "slutty" is in any case BVU automatically.

The thing is I was mainly into rock/metal and wore clothes accordingly, and I still do so I would basically be going in what I wear now just with heavier eyeliner!

That's really tame to what I was expecting - the print makes it look very grown up for clubbing though - and if you're not having to spend the whole night pulling it down at the back to cover your arse then it's not realistic of the time IMO. Goodness your friend really would have been horrified at my slutty dresses in the 90's - I used to cut the bottoms off and re-hem them to just below my bum cheeks! I agree with those that say she doesn't like how great your figure looks in it.
