Do you care that Liz Truss had an affair?

On the one hand, I feel that it's her own business, but on the other, I want a PM I can look up to, who I can trust, who has dignity. After Boris, after his endless lies, Truss doesn't inspire the integrity that I want to see in my country's leader. AIBU?

YABU to think this country is likely to have a leader with your mentioned qualities in the next decade.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 01/09/2022 00:05

that's the least of her failings tbh.

So no, don't much care what she got up to with another consenting adult.

DarkDarkNight · 01/09/2022 00:06

I generally don’t care, but if it stops her from being PM then brilliant news.

Butterdishtea · 01/09/2022 00:08

I do feel like it's time we had some character and she seems vapid.

ashitghost · 01/09/2022 00:08

No but I do care that she’s younger than me! I only found out yesterday that she’s 47! I honestly thought she was pushing 70.

lickenchugget · 01/09/2022 00:09

She’s had more than one, hasn’t she?

She’s the Tory media’s chosen candidate though, so nothing is being made of it.

And they’re ALL at it in Westminster.

SudocremOnEverything · 01/09/2022 00:10

I suspect that liz Truss is likely to be judged far more harshly about an affair than all the male politicians around her who have done or are doing the same thing.

NuffSaidSam · 01/09/2022 00:11

You're going to really struggle to find someone you can trust and look up to amongst any of them tbh.

Mrstwiddle · 01/09/2022 00:12

More than one affair? Yes, it does bother me, and it would if she were male.

MrsFezziwig · 01/09/2022 00:14

Not as much as it bothers me that she’s an incompetent fool.

Pottedpalm · 01/09/2022 00:14

No, not in the least. It’s her business.
amused by people talking as if only Tories have affairs.

saraclara · 01/09/2022 00:15

She's put it about considerably, apparently. It will be interesting to see what comes to light when the newspapers deem it to be the right time to publish.

donquixotedelamancha · 01/09/2022 00:15

Yeah, she'd be a much better PM if she was prettier.

Her husband forgave her, none of us know what went on. I think there is a world of difference between having an affair and the consistent lack of any character or decency shown by Johnson.

If you want to moan, moan about the fact she's already commited to no tax rises at a time when Energy companies are making record profits and public services are on their arse- who gives a shit about her personal life and looks?

Ladybug9 · 01/09/2022 00:16

I care! I cannot see how someone whose had an affair can be considered a leader of sorts for our country. I can't take anyone like that seriously, their selfishness will always be there. Very black and white to me!

LBFseBrom · 01/09/2022 00:17

It was a while ago and she is still with her husband. I don't think I'd worry about it too much. Tory voters elected Boris and he certainly had affairs! The thing is, we don't know who has or has had affairs unless they are outed or admit it. There could be many discreet goings on in the lives of our politicians.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 01/09/2022 00:17

If she starts going on about bringing back 'old fashioned family values' and that sort of tosh, then I'd take more interest in her extra marital activities.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 01/09/2022 00:18

Well yes I care but it makes fuck all difference since I'm not a Conservative and therefore don't get a say.

Eh?

In fairness, Starmer had integrity. You may accuse him of lacking charisma, policies and perhaps even a spine but he's shown nothing but integrity in a long career of public service.

Of course, my disagreement presupposes you think there is at least a chance of Starmer being PM.

Merryoldgoat · 01/09/2022 00:21

Do you care that Liz Truss had an affair?
Wafflesnsniffles · 01/09/2022 00:21

Name a prime minister within your living memory that was worthy, someone you felt able to look up to with respect. Someone you trusted who you felt had the peoples interests at heart. <Ill wait>

Wafflesnsniffles · 01/09/2022 00:23

And if it bothers you that Liz Truss had an affair......... why does that bother you more than Rishi and his wifes vast wealth? And thats just two issues to cherry pick from. Neither one is more worthy than the other.

Stripyhoglets1 · 01/09/2022 00:23

Gordon brown

Hoolihan · 01/09/2022 00:29

John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Theresa May all had integrity and were not liars.

Anothernamechangeplease · 01/09/2022 00:31

It doesn't help my perception of her, but it is certainly not the worst thing about her. If I thought she had the potential to be a great PM, I would be able to overlook it. As it stands, it just confirms my existing perception that she is a person without integrity.
