Do you care that Liz Truss had an affair?

On the one hand, I feel that it's her own business, but on the other, I want a PM I can look up to, who I can trust, who has dignity. After Boris, after his endless lies, Truss doesn't inspire the integrity that I want to see in my country's leader. AIBU?

TBF in a month’s time May will only have been the 3rd worst PM.

4th after Johnson (1), Cameron (2) and Truss (3) surely?

But you are right that Rafa is the king of clay! And of all courts really!

It does when one of the people she shagged is primed to be the next chancellor. There are stories of others inc Mark Throat Grab Field Envy (not envy) but then A Tory's idea of moral behaviour seems to be different to most of the population (and she's just following In the footsteps of the current pm)

Shamoo · 01/09/2022 01:01

Gordon Brown definitely had integrity. So did May, even though she was pretty useless. Blair did in many ways but the Iraq war and how he screwed over Brown probably means he can’t really go on the list. Cameron seemed ok as a person but his needless austerity policies and pandering to the far right on Brexit vote means he can’t be considered to have integrity either.

Truss has already proven herself to be stupid, lack any integrity and a pathetic public speaker. What a combo! An affair is the least of our worries!

Kwasi? I thought he had a relationship with Amber Rudd.

donquixotedelamancha · 01/09/2022 01:03

WHAT???? I've just googled it and JOHN MAJOR HAD AN AFFAIR WITH EDWINA CURRIE?! Is this common knowledge, I honestly had no idea 😳

You are going to be really upset when you find out about Tony Blair and Iraq.

AgnestaVipers · 01/09/2022 01:06

I'm more bothered that Truss thinks she should be PM.

First I have heard about this.

Here's the salacious bit - the fact that John Major wore pale blue boxers was bandied about in the press who were hell bent on making a great juicy scandal and failed miserably. Not even the blue boxers could raise the temperature.

ashitghost · 01/09/2022 00:08

No but I do care that she’s younger than me! I only found out yesterday that she’s 47! I honestly thought she was pushing 70.

No actual way!
She looks like a skeleton of about 100
Like a Scarfe cartoon.
Grim woman.

I'm not counting Truss, she's not started yet. I don't think Cameron is even bottom 5 - we've had some shit PMs over the decades.

I'm not saying May has harmed the country more than Cameron (because that's a subjective judgement about policy choices), merely that in terms of personal competence she was a failure at everything a PM is supposed to do.

Except at least she didn't break the law.

Nat6999 · 01/09/2022 01:12

Liz Truss makes Theresa May look like Winston Churchill.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/09/2022 01:14

Well the shaggers have been the best US presidents. Barring Trump of course. Maybe a shagger is who we need.

We definitely don't need someone who prioritises the rich over... I'll get my coat.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 01/09/2022 01:15

Tony Blair and Wendy Deng.

<channels Ian Hyslop> "allegedly"

SheSaidHummingbird · 01/09/2022 01:17

Thanks for your opinions. Normally, I would say it's no business of mine... But we finally get rid of Boris and it seems the country is no better off and we've learnt nothing.

And tucked his shirt into them

blackpearwhitelilies · 01/09/2022 01:22

May was responsible for. Windrush, buried about nine reports showing that immigration was beneficial and misled the queen when she was bringing the DUP on board. I don’t rate her integrity at all.

MarshaMelrose · 01/09/2022 01:24

Hoolihan · 01/09/2022 00:29

John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Theresa May all had integrity and were not liars.

Adulterer John Major. But minor in comparison with Tony Blair. He lied when he put out evidence to persuade people to go to war. He was an able politician but how you can say he has integrity is beyond me.

ThreePotatoFloor · 01/09/2022 01:30

Guy in my old place of work was denied a promotion because he was having an affair with a woman who also worked there. He was married with three kids. They basically told him they felt it showed a lack of integrity and they didn’t want to be seen to be condoning it.

as there were several others who were capable of taking on the promoted post, I thought it was a pretty noble stance to take. Fair play to them.

DarkDarkNight · 01/09/2022 00:06

I generally don’t care, but if it stops her from being PM then brilliant news.

If it stops her being PM it just highlights the sexism and double standards for women in politics.

There are plenty of other reasons why she shouldn’t be PM.

SheSaidHummingbird · 01/09/2022 01:35

Wafflesnsniffles As others has said, being wealthy isn't a negative personality trait, and Rishi has been open and honest.

Rishi Sunak is a snivelling, dweeby rich kid. He reminds me of someone doing 6th form debating society.

He's still better than Truss.

Gordon Brown was solid. I wish John Smith hadn't died as I think he would have been a great PM.

SheSaidHummingbird · 01/09/2022 01:39

Cheeselog I really do care, too, but then I feel quite strongly about infidelity and I may be being over-sensitive. I just want an leader with integrity.

And Truss ain't it.

Tony Blair not a liar? Did you type that with a straight face?

Digita · 01/09/2022 01:49

Her past affair suggests she has form for having future affairs.

Could be a sign for a headline one day in the near future:

“British PM, Liz Truss, caught in affair with [another world leader]’

That could go so many directions.

honkeytonkwoman38 · 01/09/2022 01:50

I would be surprised if she hadn't because they are all a complete shit shower.
