Do you care that Liz Truss had an affair?

On the one hand, I feel that it's her own business, but on the other, I want a PM I can look up to, who I can trust, who has dignity. After Boris, after his endless lies, Truss doesn't inspire the integrity that I want to see in my country's leader. AIBU?

Ah. Conservatives and women. The two groups the mumsnet mums hate the most.

HappyHappyHermit · 01/09/2022 07:52

Just makes me think even more that she fits in with her rotten Conservative crew. It is also quite indicative of her level of judgement.

sjxoxo · 01/09/2022 07:55

I think she’s useless and will be absolutely useless as pm. I also think she’ll likely cost them their majority so there is a silver lining at last

John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Theresa May all had integrity and were not liars.

John major had a well publicised affair . Tony Blair lies the minute he opens his mouth.Gordon Brown not up to the job. Theresa may.....oh dear.

Dorisbonson · 01/09/2022 07:59

More than a few rumours about BDSM videos involving Truss.

Hbh17 · 01/09/2022 08:00

I don't care if the PM has had an affair, and I don't care if the PM is rich. Neither of these things has any bearing on their ability to do the job.

I think Major, Blair and Brown, Governed primarily for the good of the country, Blair believed Iraq had WMD, why wouldn't he? Iraq used then on the Kurds and if Saddam had used a nerve agent in a European city, had the USA/UK not invaded, you'd all be calling him another Chamberlain.

Iraq was going to be invaded by the US regardless of our small military contribution.

Brown was and is considered highly competent, the media wrecked him with his "ignorant woman" remark... and it was Blairs think tank that drove the UK vaccination policy.

May governed for the good of her party and the ERG, Bojo governed for himself as will Truss.

If you'll lie to your partner for sex with another, then lying to us lot is no problem

hopeishere · 01/09/2022 08:08

I suspect the affair is the tip of the iceberg and there will be a slow drip of poison / more revelations once she's elected.

JennyForeigner · 01/09/2022 08:09

I kind of do care. I did with Johnson - integrity is integrity, not a matter of how many affairs we know about.

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 01/09/2022 08:11

DarkDarkNight · 01/09/2022 00:06

I generally don’t care, but if it stops her from being PM then brilliant news.

I don't want her as PM either, but I don't want Sunak either. For all his faults, we were better off having Boris. Who are you suggesting would be better?

@SheSaidHummingbird her affair is the very least of my issues with her, if that was my biggest concern it would be grand.

Blinky21 · 01/09/2022 08:13

I care and I also care about the misery her policies will inflict. I am however pleased that I highly doubt she can win an election, so we can finally kick out the nasty party

DogInATent · 01/09/2022 08:15

She’s had more than one, hasn’t she?
She's quite well known for them locally.
(next constituency over)

I'm guessing quite a few people on this thread aren't familiar with the leaked Tory Whip Blackmail List?

vera99 · 01/09/2022 08:17

She is a woman of low morals and integrity - the perfect leader for the Conservatives I think the technical term is a "right shit".

Mumteedum · 01/09/2022 08:21

I care that she's another unsuitable self serving, deluded shitface who'll do further harm to this country after the last philandering absence of moral compass.

An affair..? Perhaps an indicator of her morality but I'd base my opinion of her on her actions and words.... So it is a low opinion already.

hereforthetea · 01/09/2022 08:24

I really couldn't care less whether she had an affair or not.

Onlyforcake · 01/09/2022 08:26

Known liar, no wonder she's risen in politics.

pointythings · 01/09/2022 08:27

I couldn't care less. I care that she is yet another completely incompetent and uncaring Tory who doesn't give a shit about the people who are struggling with the cost of living.

Flossie2shoes · 01/09/2022 08:28

No

SudocremOnEverything · 01/09/2022 00:10

I suspect that liz Truss is likely to be judged far more harshly about an affair than all the male politicians around her who have done or are doing the same thing.

Maybe by most yeah but I judge her, Boris and anyone else just the same. There's no need to have an affair, it's a selfish act. I wouldn't want her as pm, but as others have said if we are going to eliminate choices based on who they've shagged in their marriages, we will probably only have newbies to the Tory party left as potential candidates. However, I doubt they'd do any worse than the two chosen...

MorrisZapp · 01/09/2022 08:35

Be fair, she looks about 58.

Can't say I care re affairs etc. I think that we all suffer from 'anyone but x' syndrome which consistently produces worse leaders than the ones we were so desperate to get rid of.

George W Bush looks positively statesmanlike compared to Trump. B Johnson doesn't deserve to exist in the same paragraph as Gordon Brown or even John Major, but I have a feeling PM Truss is going to horrify and embarrass us in a whole new way.

vera99 · 01/09/2022 08:39

She will make Theresa May look like a benighted symbol of virtue and goodness.

Do you care that Liz Truss had an affair?
2ndMrsdeWinter · 01/09/2022 08:40

@ashitghost she’ll look 95 after a year in office

MrsMoppins · 01/09/2022 08:41

Tbh in the grand scheme of things trying to find a new PM that isn't doing something morally contemptible is going to be a tough ask in the Tories. From bed hopping to cash hiding to cash for companions and bungs for the buddies whoever gets in will have zero ability and even less interest in improving the life of the majority of UK citizens.

Hulahoops78 · 01/09/2022 08:44

Did you say the say and think the same about Boris Johnson? Is it because she is a woman?

DancingBudgie · 01/09/2022 08:47

Hoolihan · 01/09/2022 00:29

John Major, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Theresa May all had integrity and were not liars.

John Major was knocking Edwina Curry off!
