Random men carrying tampons is weird

Just seen a conversation on twitter with men talking about carrying tampons and pads to be helpful if they come across some woman who might need one. I thought it was weird - or am i the weird one?

I’d cringe if any men I knew did this!

I find that weird, it's just very random and I don't know how a man would ever know a woman needed them, you'd never ask one.

When I need one, I am in a stall in a loo and say, "oh bugger, has anyone got a tampon?". If a male voice answered, "yes" I'd be very very freaked out.

Now male-run businesses with a basket in the women's loos? Thanks very much. Carrying them around? Yeah bro, I'm literally never going to ask you.

It's a bit unusual but what random men carry around in their pockets is none of my business. If it makes them happy then crack on, I don't care.

How would they know if a woman in the vicinity needed one?? Or do they intend to offer them around? "It's my round I think, and can I get any of you ladies a tampon while I'm up?"

Oh I'm not shocked about him carrying tampons, I'm shocked about the likelihood of him getting stabbed whilst just doing his job.

How on earth would he ever know? Not a single woman anywhere would ever ask a man for sanitary products. Creepy McCreep for sure.

Circumstance and context matters here - I did once hear with approval of a guy who led a hill walking tour (so he's like the guide with the big back pack) leading less experienced confident walkers who had such supplies in addition to wet wipes and first aid gear. I thought that was pretty cool, in a I'm the guy who's prepared to help if you break your arm, or twist your ankle.

Posting about it on twitter is not helpful and reeks of fetish.
