To feel angry at Tory voters?

Dottodo · 02/08/2022 00:52

DF has always voted Tory. He’s very anti immigration and we will never see each other’s POV.
DHs friends are all Tory voters and hate being with them as they are all racist, xenophobic & misogynistic.
Other Tory voters I know through work or extended family members are also xenophobic and casually racist.
I’ve spoken to friends about this and they agree that the Tory voters they personally know are also racist and xenophobic.
Why is this?
Me and DH lived abroad and as we've lived as ‘foreigners’, we don’t share their views.

Labour have lost my vote as they don't know what a woman is. They're forcing labour voters to the right with their misogynist far left politics. As a life long labour voter my next vote is Tory. At least they have the balls to stand up to woke identify politics

Good luck heating your home and feeding your kids with identity politics.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 02/08/2022 07:37

A lot of Tories are thick because they believe the right wing press and actually vote against their own interests.

Popcorning · 02/08/2022 07:42

For the record I’m not a Tory voter but this is a goady stupid post. You haven’t met all Tory voters therefore you can’t make such sweeping generalisations/accusations else you are the same as people you’re hating on. I don’t see Labour as particularly better in all honesty.

Tiredalwaystired · 02/08/2022 07:45

I’ll fix this.

Far right- racist and selfish. Think people finding life hard only ever have themselves to blame and are lazy and feckless. Until it happens to them.
Far left - self righteous and believe it’s their way or no way. If not, they’ll Chuck an insult at you. Will settle on “oppressed group of the month” and will snarl at you for suggesting there’s a middle ground.

Most people - somewhere floating around the middle, lightly one way or the other and horrified of extremist views on both sides which helps no one.

bubblescoop · 02/08/2022 07:45

You can hate us as much as you want, it doesn’t really matter.

You're like a child whose grown ups are doing what’s best for them even though they don’t like it and won’t see it for years to come, but when they finally do they’ll appreciate it and say thank you.

orangeisthenewpuce · 02/08/2022 07:45

And you don't know any Labour voters who are racist or xenophobic? Or is that ok because they vote Labour?

Tiredalwaystired · 02/08/2022 07:46

Can I ask how many years..? Is, say, 12 too many to wait?

Asking for a friend.

I'm not saying this to be goady but with specific details tell me why labour is the right party to vote for? I haven't voted for a long time and don't follow politics, I'm genuinely interested, people say don't vote Tory but what does labour have to offer?

orangeisthenewpuce · 02/08/2022 07:49

@Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious
Yep. Funny it's always the left that insult the other side. Many can't hold a decent conversation without throwing out insults. Really doesn't do them any favours when they're trying to sound superior.

I agree. But we have a good laugh at them and their insults.

Theluggage15 · 02/08/2022 07:50

I find it bizarre that you don’t know any left wing racist voters, presumably you only know middle class metropolitan lefties, because I can assure you there are plenty of racist Labour voters. The trope that left wing equals good, right wing equals bad is only peddled by intellectually challenged lefties.

ALWAYS the left..?

Tell me who the word “snowflake” is aimed at again.

TeenDivided · 02/08/2022 07:53

And this thread is why
a) people are surprised by the 'shy tory' vote in elections
b) the other recent thread (in Chat?) which stayed respectful was such a breath of fresh air
OP You are never going to change hearts and minds by flinging insults around.

Hoardasurass · 02/08/2022 07:54

Hmm I love how the(Labour) party with a massive anti semitisum problem and who love pushing the racist and sexist troap "trans women are women just like women of colour" whilst stripping the rights of women and children along with any concept of safeguarding all the while pushing children into affirmation therapy, puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and irreversible surgery. And has well and truly whole heartedly bought into the dangerous, regressive, misogynistic, homophobic authoritarian cul4 of gender identity theorists who are so thick that they can't understand basic biology is calling the (tory) party who has given the UK its only Jewish PM and 2 female PMs and is currently voting for either a 3rd female PM or the 1st PM of colour racist, sexist, homophobic, misogynistic and evil and there voters thick 🤔
Honestly whenever I hear some Labour idiots spouting this crap I know that they are behaving like every other abuser with their classic DAVAO

Oh goodness I’ve seen it all now. The French Revolution used as a reason to bash the left in 2022 😂

I can see why you think Tory voters are all racist and anti-immigration if those known to you are.....but it isn't the case for every Tory voter.

I vote Tory and I'm not those things at all. I have also lived abroad as a 'foreigner' and know what that's like, if it's relevant.

When I was younger I began voting Tory because it seemed as there was more support for the individual, for entrepreneurship, for people to become their real selves. I grew up when there was lots of unrest which seemed to be caused by unions, I was also young when Thatcher was assisting people to buy their own homes and (rightly or wrongly with hindsight) thought it was a party who encouraged the poor to get on the property ladder same as everyone else.

In later years I have voted Tory for different reasons. For instance, the whole BREXIT thing for me was nothing to do with immigration, it was because I felt that the UK should be free to determine our own course of action, our own laws and our own policies rather than being told what to do by Brussels. I know this has been argued backwards and forwards over and over as to whether this was correct or not, but it's what I believed and therefore was why I voted as I did.

Came on to write exactly this but here it is already. Beautifully put. I voted Labour when Tony Blair was leader. I have never felt Labour was for me since . I will probably vote Conservative next time. I voted out. I regarded it like my divorce. Easier in the short term to stay and put up with more and more shit just for a quiet life. Hard to get out, but ultimately the very best option.

You can’t choose your family but you CAN choose your friends. Why on earth is your DH friends with such people If their values are so different to his? There are plenty of kind, decent people to spend time with and I wouldn’t be friends with people like that whatever their voting record.

To answer the question in your post title, yes I’m angry with Tory voters who don’t have the insight or grace to realise their mistake, voting in a party who has damaged the country so badly over the past 12 years. If they’d paid attention to investing in our energy infrastructure and the green economy we’d be a lot less reliant on dodgy regimes to keep our economy afloat and stop our elderly freezing to death.

Madamecastafiore · 02/08/2022 08:06

To be honest some of the people on this thread who can be safely said to NOT be tory arent exactly covering themselves in glory intelligence wise when they seem to be completely unable to read the OP…

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 02/08/2022 08:10

oh yeah and people from virtually every political persuasion (and none) are racist

GrowlingManchego · 02/08/2022 08:10

No, Conservative voters do not believe that their policies will cause people to die. They tend to believe that they will produce the better outcomes that come with more efficient use of resources and a better-performing economy, so that fewer people will die.

So you are saying that Tory voters are unable to process or accept facts. People can and have died due to Tory policies. Pre and during covid. The economy is not in a good state. I run my own company and the tories seem to think that tax cuts are all important and that running down the basic infrastructure that businesses rely on rather than investing in it is being supportive of business. Well it isn’t.

malificent7 · 02/08/2022 08:11

The French Revolution gas been criticised for killing people on here....er yes...the. " let them eat cake " aristocracy. It's the best thing that happened in France!

They have no monarchy leaching the ordinary people but still have better tourism. When the French get pissed off, they don't moan plaintively like us...they revolt...and get listened to!

Left wing kindness and tolerance in all its glory.

And again shown in a response from op Try reading my post again you idiot! DH is not a Tory voter.
We aren’t loaded either. You’re clearly one of those Tories who see what they want!

Nice 😁
