To be sick of the heat?

It's been like this for weeks in London now. No rain, very humid/warm, awful to sleep in etc. Shows no signs of changing anytime soon either. Also read that this could all last into Halloween. Aibu to be fed up now?

Agreed. Never thought I would be sick of the heat, but this is too much for too long now.

ShowOfHands · 01/08/2022 22:10

I've never liked the heat but dear God, the lack of rain is scaring me. Hasn't rained in my bit of East Anglia for weeks on end.

LadySilence · 01/08/2022 22:11

Yep, it's horrible, so close and humid in the South. Everything is dying from lack of rain, I hate it!

Libre2 · 01/08/2022 22:12

I feel the same about winter - I just hate it. I do however love the summer so I am all good with the heat. I’m sorry if you struggle with it though and in reality the garden could do with a massive down pour.

Questionaboutjoboffer · 01/08/2022 22:12

YANBU - Was just sitting here thinking I feel like a disgusting sweating person who hasn’t properly taken care of themselves for ages and I blame it on this insidious grey but humid and depressing heat.

Eastangular2000 · 01/08/2022 22:13

It’s summer and it’s not that hot! It’s nice to have a run of summer weather without any bloody rain for once

Lem1984 · 01/08/2022 22:16

Today is the first day here that it hasn't rains since the two days of heat. Have our rain because I'm sick of it

Allywill · 01/08/2022 22:19

You will be wishing it back come winter and the heating bills!

NellesVilla · 01/08/2022 22:20

I utterly loathe it and am so incredibly unhappy with it all. Every morning I look at the temperature and my heart sinks with devastation. I really can’t cope with it and after being outside for 2 hours today, felt faint and ill and had to doze for the rest of the afternoon (and I’m relatively young!).

I am so very grateful I’m on annual leave for
much of this summer and can hide in the house. It doesn’t help that I am virtually obese -tbf- and I vow to be lighter next summer to survive it.

LadyCatStark · 01/08/2022 22:20

Come up north, we’ve had loads of rain 🙄.

BalloonsAndWhistles · 01/08/2022 22:21

26 degrees in our bedroom right now 🥵 🥵 It’s horrid.

vodkaredbullgirl · 01/08/2022 22:22

I'm doing a night shift and it's too hot.

Sux2buthen · 01/08/2022 22:22

Hate it.

NellesVilla · 01/08/2022 22:22

@LadyCatStark - I’m seriously considering it actually! For a start, I might actually be able to purchase a home there (live in v expensive part of Surrey close to Wimbledon).

2tired2bewitty · 01/08/2022 22:25

Fleecy top and a blanket here in the NE but perfectly pleasant out earlier - come north, it’s fab, I’d never go back to living in London now.

EmmaH2022 · 01/08/2022 22:27

Grim isn't it
the humidity is much higher than previous years.

TheDogsMother · 01/08/2022 22:28

SE here and apart from the couple of boiling days I have loved the heat and sun for weeks now. Everything does looked incredibly parched though.

ShowOfHands · 01/08/2022 22:28

Unfortunately, it's not a run of summer weather here. We've had fires starting in dry fields and destroying houses in the village next to us, the local ponds have dried up meaning we've lost wildlife and crops are failing.

blanchrspot · 01/08/2022 22:30

I like heat but not muggy, humid heat

luxxlisbon · 01/08/2022 22:31

To be sick of the heat?

No, it’s summer.
Winter will be long and cold enough.
I can’t really get on board with the constant weather moaning.

ilovesooty · 01/08/2022 22:32

LadyCatStark · 01/08/2022 22:20

Agreed. It's not even warm.

I spent the weekend in Wales. I had to borrow a blanket to walk home from a party and it rained for a good half of the time I was there.

blanchrspot · 01/08/2022 22:33

what's your definition of close?!

RetrainRetrain · 01/08/2022 22:37

I'm in the south and love the reliable warmth of this summer but would absolutely trade it for a downpour or two as everywhere looks brown and sad

Itsincidental · 01/08/2022 22:37

Please send a few degrees of heat here - it's been 14C and rainy and I've been wearing my winter woolly jumper!

larkstar · 01/08/2022 22:41

After those 2 insanely hot days almost every day has been between about 18 and 22 at best and we've had long periods of drizzle most days - it's definitely not been hot or remotely uncomfortable since then - in fact - it's been brilliant for the garden - all 4 of my water butts are full again. I had no idea it was hot and muggy in the SE. I'm on the North Staffordshire/South Staffordshire border.
