It's been like this for weeks in London now. No rain, very humid/warm, awful to sleep in etc. Shows no signs of changing anytime soon either. Also read that this could all last into Halloween. Aibu to be fed up now?

We need to organise a great big Mumsnet house swap.

We've had torrential rain most of the day and quite a bit over the last week. Apart from the two hot days we haven't really had a summer yet, just one bbq! I'm NW.

I like autumn and winter too, then at least I'm not constantly disappointed at the crap weather.

CookPassBabtridge · 02/08/2022 20:45

I'm in Leeds and the temp is cooler but it's sooooo muggy. Everyone is sweating from the inside out. If I'm not infront of a fan at home it's awful.

TheLostNights · 04/08/2022 23:16

25C here today and the weather girl on the BBC said it was fresher weather. Certainly doesn't feel like it. Days more of this heat and humidity and hearing it will go on through September too. Deep effing joy....

After those few days when it was hovering around 40C, 25C is positively refreshing!

We've been in a US desert state and its 40C or thereabout for months. Everyone goes have air conditioning though.

Saw on the weather that it's hit 50C (!!!) in Baghdad these last few days. Can't imagine that. I doubt the majority have air con either..

zurala · 04/08/2022 23:39

It's lovely! Nice and warm, not too hot, this is what summer is about! Long may it continue.

TheLostNights · 05/08/2022 13:37

I hate it. Hopefully only a few more weeks and then this will all end

It was wonderful this morning warm and breezy now it's this awful humid heat that gives me a headache yuk !!

Lottapianos · 05/08/2022 17:53

'This is a really great thread to show that SAD works both ways.'

Good point. I enjoy sunshine, around 22 degrees is perfect for me, but I find the endless heat so incredibly tiring and stressful. I'm in London and we have 5 days of 30 degrees forecast next week. That's bloody miserable!

Much fresher this morning,it was lovely. Humid again now and really hot next week 🙄

RainydaysandFridays · 05/08/2022 18:09

They’re talking about more 30+ degree days next week - not good

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 05/08/2022 18:10

Time to start rehearsing rain dance.

TheLostNights · 05/08/2022 18:40

Next week will be revolting. I'm in London and the thought of yet more boiling hot, muggy weather makes me want to cry.
Surely this has to end soon?

In Lancashire it felt quite autumnal today. Still, we had 2 nice days this year.

HappyToSmile · 05/08/2022 19:16

The heat I can deal with, the lack of rain is not good! I have horses and a garden and no rain! Mind you, come winter, i will be moaning about it being too wet!!

Ditto, and yes you would bloody hope so 🤞

TheLostNights · 05/08/2022 22:22

Surely we can only have a couple of weeks left of this. I know it's warm in September but the nights start drawing in so hopefully it's coming to an end.

I’m in London and I love the heat! 🙈

Breconhelen · 05/08/2022 22:43

I almost cried when I saw the forecast for next week. I'm so sick of the heat, of the warm nights, of the extra electricity for the fans, of having to open the house up in the morning to cool it down.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 06/08/2022 01:14

Remember this next winter when none of us can afford heating😁

WTF99 · 06/08/2022 01:28

Oh for goodness sake! It will soon be dark every day for longer than it is light and we'll be freezing our rocks off and too scared to put the heating on for fear of the bills.
Just enjoy it ffs! Wear suitable clothing, drink water, chill out a bit...
Soon be Christmas!

Everything is parched, wildlife and plants are suffering in the heat, hosepipe bans everywhere, the fire risk is immense.

But yes, just enjoy it, FFS! Hmm

As long as you 'just enjoy' the cold weather when it comes, no moaning whatsoever.

balalake · 06/08/2022 08:27

Lack of rain is my main concern. I have five ponds at my local common, or should I now say three and a quarter.
