It's been like this for weeks in London now. No rain, very humid/warm, awful to sleep in etc. Shows no signs of changing anytime soon either. Also read that this could all last into Halloween. Aibu to be fed up now?

Come join us in the North, I actually felt cold yesterday.

HailAdrian · 06/08/2022 08:32

It's winter that drags on forever, I'm dreading it. Ugh.

Oh fgs it's over and done with in no time, we hardly get bad winters these days.

Just put a jumper on and get on with it!

😉

TheLostNights · 06/08/2022 12:26

I agree, we hardly get really cold weather in this country anymore, not down south anyway. Jan and Feb are always cold but stays warm well into late October now and can be warm from March.
I am seriously considering moving as I just hate this weather so much.

Omg I’m suffering today, it’s practically dystopian in my part of London, tried to have a picnic yesterday and it was hideous - dead grass and so smelly as usually the rain cleans London and it’s been weeks now. My dog just disturbed a baby fox who was clearly in a bad way but trying to drink from our apartment water fountain. Anyone who is enjoying this weather can’t have much empathy for the flora and fauna, this isn’t lovely summer weather it’s a dangerous drought!

TheLostNights · 08/08/2022 13:27

I hear you @Blueberrywitch .
Could cry when I look at the temperatures, it is never ending. It's been so prolonged and like you say, the grass looks awful and it's so sad to see

Yes your quite correct, my love of warmth is only equalled by my love of animal suffering and dead grass

Lottapianos · 08/08/2022 13:48

I'm WFH today with the back door open and it's surprisingly breezy and pleasant so far (east London). Absolutely dreading the end of the week though - 32 degrees is just miserable!

SNAFU247 · 08/08/2022 13:58

Its not as muggy here in Cambridgeshire today, but its hot. I WFH and whilst its usually okay during the morning half of the day, from 3pm onwards the house is like a furnace and I end up a sweaty mess on Zoom calls! It's only due to be 26 degrees here today, but 29 tomorrow and then 33-34 degrees from Wednesday through until next Monday.

It's the lack of rain that is killing us here. Genuinely can't remember the last time it properly rained.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/08/2022 14:12

Hot where I am but not unbearable. I've shopped, cooked and cleaned the fridge ,hung out 2 loads of washing. Not bad at all. By tomorrow I'll be weeping though !

TinaTeaspoons · 08/08/2022 18:45

29C still here. It's unbearable and worse to come 😫

Jourdain11 · 08/08/2022 19:11

It's not that hot! NW here and I'd say it has been warm, not excessively so, and definitely not soul-destroyingly, miserabley hot. I feel like I'm in a completely different place to most posting here...

Could do with some rain though, I agree.

ChampagneLassie · 08/08/2022 19:15

I'm FTM with a new baby, previously I'd have been loving it, but now I hate it. We don't leave the house on hot sunny days and I've bought air con (great in energy crisis

Blossomtoes · 08/08/2022 19:16

I’m in Cambs too @SNAFU247. You’ll never catch me complaining about a good summer but the lack of rain is awful. All the “grass” is yellow dust and the leaves of some trees are brown already. I dream of a really good downpour.

Electriq · 08/08/2022 19:17

YABU it will be cold soon and everyone will be moaning again, enjoy it whilst it's here

LunarSeas · 08/08/2022 19:28

It’s 15 degrees here (north), windy with heavy grey skies. It’s been like this for most of the summer and I am genuinely depressed and fed up of being cold and miserable. I walked the dog today in a warm hat, wellies, coat and scarf. I’d give anything right now for a bit of warmth and sun.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 08/08/2022 19:43

@LunarSeas Flowers I really would struggle with that, it is a shame we can't share it out a bit.

I think it is hot here because I am really happy and feel warm. The thermostat says 26 in the shade and it its quarter past seven and I still have sun in the garden so think where I am is even warmer. 31 forecast in the next few days.

I love it, although do agree one day of heavy rain would be better for the plants.

Jourdain11 · 08/08/2022 20:17

I'm with you, I like it too! It was nice and sunny today, with a breeze. Not too hot at all! I agree that the 39/40 days were a bit gross (especially going into Central London on the Bakerloo line) but this weather is good!

Jourdain11 · 08/08/2022 20:18

We could have the rain at night, I reckon 😉

Blossomtoes · 08/08/2022 20:20

Rain at night would work for me.

MarshaBradyo · 08/08/2022 20:21

I’m with the hot summer lovers and find it so nice to not weather app watch for a random good day, which was last year

We are very low on rain but no hosepipe ban yet

Whitehorsegirl · 08/08/2022 20:31

I hate this weather. I am in London and it really is not a good place to be with 30 plus temperatures.

Frankly this has sealed my decision to leave the city for good.

These temperatures are also not good for the wildlife and plants.

DrCoconut · 08/08/2022 20:36

It's nice here now after the rain we had in July. It was only about 23 today so just lovely summer weather. We get months and months of cold, grey and wet so I love having some much needed light and warmth, especially after the last two summers that were such a disappointment weather wise.

TiddyTidTwo · 08/08/2022 20:47

50 years old, grumpy and menopausal. I'll leave the rest to your imagination in this heat 😇

Rosebel · 08/08/2022 20:52

Normally I love hot sunny weather but I work with children. We can only take them out for short periods of time and probably not at all later in the week so they become very hyper and wound up.
If I was at home I'd be very happy.
