To think MILF is not a fucking compliment?

I went out out the other weekend to a very ‘young’ bar locally. I got very sweetly chatted up by a fetching young man of 22 (I’m 42 and very happily married).

It all went a bit sour when he said I’m a ‘right MILF’ and was put out when I turned on my heel and walked off.

This is not a compliment, right? I was very much enjoying the confidence boost of a strapping young lad showing interest and then he completely fucking ruined it 🤣

What didn't you like? You liked being chatted up. I presume he thought you were interested and took it a bit further.

He was making it very clear that I am terribly old. He could have just continued with the compliments and I could have carried on brushing him off. ‘Yeah but you’re a right MILF’ means he’s telling me I’m a generation older than him and I didn’t need that pointing out. Brought me right back down to earth.

Yep, it’s a revolting term and I’d have walked off too.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/07/2022 15:45

Compared to a 22 year old you are terribly old...and happily married !

C0mfyChairP0se · 31/07/2022 15:46

I think it's a bit madonna / whore complex to divide women in to mothers non mothers.
Like realistically, anybody from about 19 to 58 can be a mother (of a child under 18) so ''milf'' is so utterly meaningless anyway

Most stupid men would be a bit dopey, what, I just told you you're fuckable that's a compliment.

The intelligent ones mightn't be sitting at the bar like norm and cliff

No it doesn't. Mum's in their 20s get called milfs?

Steakandquinoa · 31/07/2022 15:47

But you ARE old enough to be his mother. Bit crude, but he meant it as a complement.

Undecidedandtorn · 31/07/2022 15:47

I don't like it - being a mother is not a sexy activity so just want to keep the two separate thanks very much.

IneffableGenderFairy · 31/07/2022 15:48

Telling someone that you'd like to fuck them is not a compliment. It doesn't make us feel grateful.

Hope this clears things up for some of the PPs.

MoodyTwo · 31/07/2022 15:48

It's just a saying, anyone over 16 with kids is a MILF!
I'd have taken it as a compliment (or just laughed it away!)

This too! It’s revolting.

I don't like the term either but know a number of women who see it as the highest possible compliment - old but still fuckable to a younger guy, they've still got it, hurray.

I am less sure of why you were offended though. You are old enough to be his mum and were enjoying the sexual attraction, so you don't mind him thinking that you are 'older but still fanciable', but don't want it spelling out?

So let me get this right…you are upset that an immature 22 year old said an immature comment? What were you expecting?

AgentMagenta · 31/07/2022 15:51

@YouDoYouHun yes, I've heard women in their 20s referred to as 'MILF's

Pretty much yes. Let me enjoy my delusion of youth ffs 🤣

I work with predominantly people in his age bracket, most of whom call me Mum. It gets a bit wearing being the oldest person in the room.

LynneBenfield · 31/07/2022 15:52

I would disagree with the ‘mum’s in their 20’s’ thing. MILFs is usually a thing used to reduce older women to sexual stereotypes, the non-childbearing version is the equally vomit-inducing ‘cougar’. The odd 20, something woman/mum may be described in that way (and yes, it’s still gross) but it is the exception rather than the rule.
Plus it’s the implication that comes with it of “obviously mums are disgustingly unsexy but I’d make the exception for you”. Yeah, jog on.

TeapotTitties · 31/07/2022 15:54

‘Yeah but you’re a right MILF’ means he’s telling me I’m a generation older than him and I didn’t need that pointing out. Brought me right back down to earth.

But for you to be 'brought right back down to earth', means you did need it pointing out surely? Otherwise it wouldn't have had that effect? You're twice his age, it would be very hard for me to forget that.

dolphinsarentcommon · 31/07/2022 15:55

If it's ok for a happily married woman in her forties to be chatted up by a 22 year old (and I'm guessing you were going along with it) then you have to accept he's going to use childish comments like that.

I couldn't be bothered.

Ok we know what it stands for, but when said, it really just means a woman who is sexy and older, or a mother. Some people call themselves a milf to express that they're sexy.

So, I would say it's a compliment: but if you're married it's a bit odd to be entertaining it in the first place

BrokenToy · 31/07/2022 15:57

I wasn’t actually entertaining it or going along with it, I was very clear I was married not interested and wouldn’t let him buy me a drink. But the compliments were flowing (him to me) up until then, and he was put out that I didn’t consider MILF to be one.

That would be because it's a lot more common for women in their 50s to have kids vs 20s. I have definitely been called a milf I'm definitely not though 🙈

He was probably put out that he wasn't going to have sex with you at the end of the night, because you walked away.

That's why he was laying the compliments on thick, it's called 'grafting'.

IneffableGenderFairy · 31/07/2022 16:01

Opinion is obviously split on here, but maybe he'll think twice before using the term again.
