To think MILF is not a fucking compliment?

I went out out the other weekend to a very ‘young’ bar locally. I got very sweetly chatted up by a fetching young man of 22 (I’m 42 and very happily married).

It all went a bit sour when he said I’m a ‘right MILF’ and was put out when I turned on my heel and walked off.

This is not a compliment, right? I was very much enjoying the confidence boost of a strapping young lad showing interest and then he completely fucking ruined it 🤣

YABU - it’s not his job to fulfil your sexual fantasy of how a young man should behave. Even if he is giving you a ‘confidence boost.’

just move and and let him live his life.

and just to remind you, happily married people don’t enjoy being hit on in bars by people 20 years younger than them.

IneffableGenderFairy · 31/07/2022 16:05

Yes OP. Why won't you just let him live his life, ffs.

I think moving might be a bit drastic tbh.

This sounds like a humblebrag tbh.

He was making it very clear that I am terribly old. He could have just continued with the compliments and I could have carried on brushing him off. ‘Yeah but you’re a right MILF’ means he’s telling me I’m a generation older than him and I didn’t need that pointing out. Brought me right back down to earth.

That’s not what MILF means. You do know that there are 22yo MILFs out there?
If he had wanted to call you a generation older, he would have called you a GILF.

Oh it’s a full on brag <swishes hair>.

GILF would, by definition, be two generations older, surely?

I'm 37 and I'd take that as a compliment 😂
(But I couldn't bring myself to let a 22 year old chat me up, my eldest child is only 6 years younger than that 😱)

Discovereads · 31/07/2022 16:12

BrokenToy · 31/07/2022 16:10

No? Because at 22 he’s more than old enough to be a dad himself, but he’s not old enough to be a grandad. So a GILF is one generation older than him. You are old enough to be a GILF though at 42.

I don’t like the terms because they’re from porn, so agree it’s not a nice compliment.

Based on the title of your post I can’t say thinking is something you are used to doing independently tbh

InTheShadeOfTheFigTree · 31/07/2022 16:16

I can't get my head round someone thinking that a bloke saying you are a parent that they'd like to fuck is a compliment. People's expectations must be bloody low these days.

gamerchick · 31/07/2022 16:17

IneffableGenderFairy · 31/07/2022 15:48

Telling someone that you'd like to fuck them is not a compliment. It doesn't make us feel grateful.

Hope this clears things up for some of the PPs.

I know right! MILF is not a compliment. No matter how old you are.

If you wouldn't mind then meh. Have your bar set where you want.

Clairewentoverthemountain · 31/07/2022 16:18

MILF doesn't mean that you're old. It literally means that you're a mother. A 22 year old could say it to a 22 year old mother. It doesn't mean you look like HIS mum! Just that you're A mum.

XSnoe · 31/07/2022 16:19

I find it a compliment. I've been called that and I'm only in my 20s, but I have a child, so it doesn't make me feel "old".

XSnoe · 31/07/2022 16:24

Bullshit. You can enjoy knowing you are still attractive to other people and then move on with your life without flirting back or doing anything untoward, and then go back to your happy marriage with a little kick of knowing others still want you and you are desirable. It doesn't mean you aren't happily married.

I don't think most of us are quibbling over whether it means you look as old as a man's mother. It's more the sexual objectification of women Confused

Cant believe anyone would consider it a compliment, that's utterly depressing.

It's used in different contexts, it can be sexual in porn or normal banter, depending. Here it was flirtatious but not necessarily overtly sexual. If you're not familiar with the term, you might think that, but it's almost became separate from the original meaning.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 31/07/2022 16:28

Er its ok for a 40 year old woman to be allowed to sit in a bar being hit on by a 22 year old who was obviously looking for a fuck without having to work to hard for it, and the only complaint is the terminology he used. Now imagine a 22 year old girl chatting up a bloke of 40 because she hasn't got much money and wants a few drinks. Bloke would be called allsorts of names nothing as complimentary as a milf

Angelinflipflops · 31/07/2022 16:28

You're pissed off he finds you sexually attractive? Or that he used a slightly crude term?

cockandball · 31/07/2022 16:29

Err..... Bit confused why you were letting him chat you up though until his faux Pas, being a 'happily married' woman and all that, no doubt you were enjoying the flattery - that's the 'what the fuck' moment here and your poor husband 🙄

Sexual objectification from a stranger doesn't make women who value themselves feel attractive or desired.

junglejane66 · 31/07/2022 16:30

Could have been worse, he could have called you a GILF 😂

Icouldbehappy · 31/07/2022 16:30

I like being called a MILF. It’s a compliment, in my book. I’m in my 50’s and I’ve lost a huge amount of weight. I look great, even if I do say so myself 😂
It’s fine if others don’t like it.

And the normalisation of objectification continues

howdidigethere · 31/07/2022 16:31

So, it's not the "ILF" bit you object to but the "M" bit?

I now have that song Stacey's Mom in my head...argh!
