The great Eggsperiment taking place on 19th July/ Aka EGG WARS

Enigma2000 · 18/07/2022 16:51

Following on from my patio egg experiment. I have set up this thread ready for us all to take part in on 19th July.

Pick your surface and splat your egg between 10am - 6pm.

Let's do our egg science and save humanity.

I will be setting up my egg out front (as it is hotter than my back garden) on foil tomorrow.

Lets go! 😁😁

Can I use today’s? It’s going to rain here tomorrow 😂

MrsIronfoundersson · 18/07/2022 16:55

Ooh me please! Will use a pan or a tray or something as have no handy dog for clearup. House faces east-west so I might have to move it as the sun comes round.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 18/07/2022 16:57

Marking place!

KarrotKake · 18/07/2022 16:57

I think you need to get egg white to 60C to start cooking, 65C to cook solid, and 65-70C to set the yolk.

Placemarking??Me??

SoupDragon · 18/07/2022 17:00

I reckon my car roof would stand a good chance tomorrow 🤔

the bonnet slopes too much 😂

Hotenoughtoburnasausage · 18/07/2022 17:02

Any ideas how to keep 24 paws away whilst the experiment takes place?

TheodoreMortlock · 18/07/2022 17:03

I reckon a metal tray in the back garden would reach 60. We're allowed to keep children off school today and tomorrow so I'll get my Y2 child to join in and call it science 😁

Here's some useful preparatory reading: www.seriouseats.com/sous-vide-101-all-about-eggs

Trixieandkatya · 18/07/2022 17:05

Watching with interest! OP I think you should let the oiled tin foil sit for a bit to heat up before you put the egg on, same for anyone else using a frying pan! 😁

Soubriquet · 18/07/2022 17:06

Place marking for tomorrow. If I had eggs I might have joined in. Supposed to 40 degrees tomorrow

EaselArt · 18/07/2022 17:07

Are there any rules we need to bear in mind?

kateandme · 18/07/2022 17:09

In a red zone so want to be in on this. I’m thinking a pan but what surface- floor, bin, table, grass?

kateandme · 18/07/2022 17:09

I have a middle isle Lidl pan perfect size for this!

IAAP · 18/07/2022 17:13

Place marking

TipTopTurvy · 18/07/2022 17:14

I am at work all day, but can I please try the car thing as mentioned in the other thread? Wi.put one in a cup.of water and leave one out. Working open to close tomorrow and car will be in full sun!

Enigma2000 · 18/07/2022 17:19

EaselArt

I would say the only rule would be to use the sun as the heat source so no blow torches etc to speed it up. 🤣🤣

Place marking!

PringlePoppin · 18/07/2022 17:23

I'm in ! Will pop to the shops later.

Blackmoggy · 18/07/2022 17:31

Come on lol....it wont work.

I know it's hot but thinking you can cook eggs on the floor is eggsagerating surely!!

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 18/07/2022 17:34

If my DH is out of the way I’m going to do it on my black car. 🍳

My egg will be medium size, room temperature.

LunaLoveFood · 18/07/2022 17:36

Oh no I have to work tomorrow, but will be checking in on this thread regularly.

buckeejit · 18/07/2022 17:40

I've often wondered on this. Im NI so not often it gets this hot but apparently due to drop 10 degrees here tomorrow

Govesdancingpartner · 18/07/2022 17:58

Definitely in I think a nest of foil, a small amount of oil then when oil warm enough in goes the egg. Going to have the hose on stand by just in case. Send pics of hopefully a cooked egg and not a fire🤞

Chocoqueen · 18/07/2022 18:01

Marking my place, need to work out where's best to put it 🤔

Natsku · 18/07/2022 18:01

I'm up for this, can consider it a science lesson for the children. Or a cooking lesson, I dunno.
