Following on from my patio egg experiment. I have set up this thread ready for us all to take part in on 19th July.

Pick your surface and splat your egg between 10am - 6pm.

Let's do our egg science and save humanity.

I will be setting up my egg out front (as it is hotter than my back garden) on foil tomorrow.

Lets go! 😁😁

Right egg is in the foil tray now at 12:28, with stones around to hopefully stop it blowing away and cling film over the top to keep next doors cat off, hopefully, and perhaps trap the heat in better

No eggs here but fully invested in this important science-type experiment.

I told my DS's about this and they have put a frying pan in full sun on the drive and cracked an egg in it. The neighbours must think we're weirder than they already thought!

I made them use a pan I was going to chuck away instead of my new one. It's been there half an hour.

I'm in ! Egg at 12 and then again at 12.30. Cooking has already started. Can't check at moment as dogs are asleep at my feet and don't want to wake them. It's a bit hot here !!!

The one on foil is turning. I have now moved it out back to chase the sun.

Got mine on the go about an hour ago. It's definitely cooking (or drying out at least!)

After 1 hour and 30 minutes

Mine after an hour-its cooking from heat above, not beneath which is why I think it's gone all simply and crispy across the surface.

After one hour there's not much progress. Garden is nearly 40 degrees in the shade, just moved the thermometer next to the egg to see what it's like there

I just put out diy solar oven outside with a cooking thermometer, when I turned the thermometer on it was 45° (had been outside for about 5 mins) and then it hit 50°very quickly. Gone inside to make food and then will try and cook on it

The thermometer doesn't go high enough to show how hot it is in the sunlight!

Just been to check again and I'm getting some good crisping. It went out at 12.30 so that 1 hour 10.

This is all very eggciting! I'm in the South West and it has been cloudy all day, but still hot. I think you need direct sunlight for this eggsperiment so I haven't joined in - but I am very interested to know your results!

Mine's in. On a sunny windowsill though, as builders in garden and don't want them to take the piss tread on it

I’ve gone for egg in the car!

I'm now regretting my fancy mini copper pan - foil is probably the way to go. But my plucky little guy is out with all out hopes and dreams.

I tried it on my car dash board. Egg in place at 13:01….egg cooked at 13:55 ☀️☀️

Anyone for a free ‘Ranger’ egg? 😆

Name changed as I've also posted pictures on social nedia, but mine went out about 2 hours ago and seems to have risen

About 45 mins in and the top has gone hard and prodable (which according to autocorrect is not a word but in this context it is).

Wish I could join in, but unless I stand out there with it (which I'm not about to do), the magpies would have it within 30 seconds
