Following on from my patio egg experiment. I have set up this thread ready for us all to take part in on 19th July.

Pick your surface and splat your egg between 10am - 6pm.

Let's do our egg science and save humanity.

I will be setting up my egg out front (as it is hotter than my back garden) on foil tomorrow.

I'm going to give a go in a frying pan on a garden slab. Can I put the frying pan out tonight so it gets the full force of the sun from sunrise? The garden faces directly east.

We are away in Greece on holiday and it's only meant to be 32 here tomorrow!!!
We have paid thousands for this Holiday and though I am enjoying it I feel very cheated that I'm not going to have a good chance like the rest of you .(loved today's thread )
I'm going to give it a go regardless out the back of the villa with the last egg we have left ,not expecting much to be honest and dh will think I've gone completely mad

This is my strategy:

Frying pan on glass topped patio table at 8am
Oil in pan at 2.30pm
At 3.30pm when kids get back, we are GO GO GO for the egg

I may also try a control egg in the cast iron pan in the car. Same staggered approach to heat pan first then add egg.

School is shut tomorrow so I’m in! I’m going for the windowsill (in a foil boat), mainly so I can check on it without going outside - I live upstairs.

Knowing MN it won't just stop with a cracked egg, will it. There will be car roof pavlovas here tomorrow, effortlessly decorated with foraged forest fruit and tears.

We need someone with fake grass…the plastic astroturf stuff gets scorching hot. Put it on a small piece of foil and I think you could do it

Fantastic! Had just added my belated reply to the other post. Will definitely start preheating the pan earlier in the day.

I tried this on dark grey slate patio last summer. Patio was too hot to walk on. Egg didn’t cook 😭

For some more scientific eggsperiments add some red cabbage water to the egg white... and have some Dr Seuss, green eggs and ham.....

I'm now pondering the possibility of making a meringue in the car, the only problem being that I need to go out early afternoon and I'm sure the air-con will have to feature at some point. Would anyone care to comment on the humidity of the car verses my oven? Will I get crisp outer and perfectly gooey inner?
