The great Eggsperiment taking place on 19th July/ Aka EGG WARS

Following on from my patio egg experiment. I have set up this thread ready for us all to take part in on 19th July.

Pick your surface and splat your egg between 10am - 6pm.

Let's do our egg science and save humanity.

I will be setting up my egg out front (as it is hotter than my back garden) on foil tomorrow.

Lets go! 😁😁

I've got a problem, its too windy in my garden! I put a foil tray out on top of the hot garden table to warm up and the wind keeps blowing it away, don't think an egg will survive in it. Maybe I'll wait until the sun moves around to the back where its protected from the wind. Or then cook it in the front porch which is basically an oven.

TwoOwlSocks · 19/07/2022 11:13

I'm in.
Pre-heated pan. Room temperature egg. Tiny bit of oil to avoid scrapage situation. Lid to avoid wildlife forage/contamination situation. South West patio. Crack off was at 10.48.

DH is currently on a call about pensions. I think I've got the more exciting day.

That’s why I pegged my foil to dd bubble thing

Please forgive the blue glove. Birds have been dropping them since Covid began.

Sorry I'm not good at seeing Sarcasm, I'm reading that as birds have been dropping blue gloves in ur garden since covid?? I'm really confused

WhatICallMyUsername · 19/07/2022 11:21

I went to shops at 8am before it got too hot, I can't believe I forgot to get any eggs. No way I am going out again now so I'll watch with interest!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/07/2022 11:24

Hour later and yolk is cooked and hard on foil on grass

Patio /pan not a lot is happening

im out for lunch in a bit as my birthday but will check eggs when back

Enigma2000 · 19/07/2022 11:26

Right my fellow Mumsnutters...

I had a minor situation.
I didn't anticipate the slight breeze so my foil flipped over onto my egg. I have quickly added a new one to rectify that near disaster.
(No I am not over reacting, this is serious people!)

The ziploc blew onto the driveway so it is well and truly going for a scrambled effect.

I have secured them all and we are back on!

No doubt I will get a viper swoop to tell me about my excessive use of eggs but please understand dear viper, the survival of humanity may rest upon the results.

I'm also confident the local wildlife will be along to enjoy them at some point as I live next door to fields so no wastage.

Blondeshavemorefun
Your foil one is at "strokable egg" point.
Same here.

Happy Birthday! 🎉
Have a lovely time and see what you can smuggle to experiment with before 6pm.
😉

@Newrunner29 You read correctly, there is no sarcasm. Since late April last year we have had blue gloves dropped into our garden, and frogs/toads. Like a weird plague. There's no access to our garden as we are surrounded by massive walls and nobody could throw these things in back again, massive walls.

meow1989 · 19/07/2022 11:38

Ooh can I join? I had actually been thinking about trying this. I've just popped a cake tin base outside on our metal bistro table... going to give it an hour and crack on Grin

Enigma2000 · 19/07/2022 11:41

meow1989

Of course you can. The more the merrier. 😁

Amazing idea. School is closing early today, so this will be education! Have put a pan out to start warming up.

nonevernotever · 19/07/2022 11:48

Living vicariously through you all.- (only) 25 here and Franky the laird from next door would never leave the experiment alone long enough.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/07/2022 11:56

I should have warmed pan up. Sure would sizzle

as we heat the pan first to cook usually

Gah! We are normally egg city but have run out! No way am I walking to the shop so I will just have to observe what happens with yours.

RoseDog · 19/07/2022 12:17

Sadly not hot enough here to fry an egg today, sun isn't strong enough to burn through our Scottish clouds!

TugboatAnnie · 19/07/2022 12:19

Ooh further to my no-egg post, Dp has just walked in with half a dozen. I have a small pan heating up some oil outside and will crack an egg in shortly. This is the most exciting thing thst's happened for two days!

meow1989 · 19/07/2022 12:27
