To hope Johnson doesn't resign?

LonelyPlanetGirI · 05/07/2022 18:51

Because if he clings on until the next GE, he'll be completely unelectable and we'll be rid of the Tories.

I'm hoping he digs his heels in just like he always has, even though by rights he should be fucking off with his tail between his legs.

OP posts:
TooBigForMyBoots · 05/07/2022 19:32

I hope he doesn't go and I'm not sure he will.🙈

My bet is he'll try and front it out until summer recess. If the party rules are changed to allow a 2nd vote of confidence, he'll launch a legal challenge. He will cling on.

Yeoooooo!😆

HRTQueen · 05/07/2022 19:42

I think he may just have to go this time though I wouldn’t be completely shocked if he he held on. But it seems someone is being lined up

it’s certainly better for Labour if he stays

I think Tobias Ellwood may make a move that isn’t good news for Labour he has been nipping at Boris Johnson’s heels for a while. Sharp without being smarmy, ex military, terrorist attack hero, likeable, no sleeze, centre Tory, a nightmare for Labour

Who else is there to vote for?

Oh ffs

I bet you're still blaming everything on corbyn

Iwantmyoldnameback · 05/07/2022 19:25

Needs to go now before he died anymore damage.

If only

balalake · 05/07/2022 19:53

I am going to France next week. I will do everything possible to avoid having to mention that I come from these shores.

Every day that Mr Johnson remains Prime Minister is a day more that he can do damage to this country and to its reputation.

knackeredagain · 05/07/2022 19:00

Who else is there to vote for?

Pretty much anyone, surely, could have a go and not make quite so many errors,

There can't possibly only be just one option to lead our country - not one who is a misogynist, lying, law breaking, immoral and incompetent man.

Glitteratitar · 05/07/2022 20:06

But people still voted the Tories in, despite having Boris as its leader. So honestly, I genuinely believe that if he stays, by the time of the next GE, he will come up with the same lies that will convince people to vote for him.

limitededitionbarbie · 05/07/2022 20:16

I agree because I don't think there is anyone else.

But god knows what will be in place if he sticks out another couple of years.

I am not sure what is worse?

Whoever is on next will have to resign themselves to a poison chalice from Boris leadership. It will be very hard going no matter who they are.

Bellainey · 05/07/2022 20:22

Po

the80sweregreat · 05/07/2022 20:28

It was different in December 2019 though
People fell for the Boris Johnson 'charm ' offensive and the brexit mandate etc. The choice was terrible and people had brexit fatigue.
What have they got now ? Even hardcore Conservative voters are torn and it's toxic.

Luxa · 05/07/2022 20:31

At least he knows what a woman is and what body parts they don't have.

Rabbitholedigger · 05/07/2022 20:33

He should call a GE.

Penny Mordaunt, potential Tory leader, doesn’t.

Rabbitholedigger · 05/07/2022 20:36

"Does he?🤔"

Well Starmer doesn't

Who else is there to vote for?

Oh FFS.

VickerishAllsort · 05/07/2022 20:46

Will he go?
The words 'shit' and 'blanket' spring to mind.

Greensleeves · 05/07/2022 20:46

VladmirsPoutine · 05/07/2022 19:15

I don't think so tbh. I think Boris will be forced to go but the country at large is wedded to toryism. Remember when the idea of broadband being a national right was floated and people thought that an absolutely absurd idea? Or the idea of magic money trees and so forth. Thing is the Brits in my view are wedded to misery i.e. no-one should have anything nice if I can't either.

DH and I were saying something similar the other day - whatever the outcome of the current shitshow in government, culturally this is a Tory country now. It's so fucking depressing.

ilovesooty · 05/07/2022 20:47

Luxa · 05/07/2022 20:31

At least he knows what a woman is and what body parts they don't have.

Hardly a justification for keeping the lying bag of shit in office.

yikesanotherbooboo · 05/07/2022 20:47

I am with you OP but really , for the country's sake we cannot keep going with this awful man at the helm ruining our country.

SweetSakura · 05/07/2022 20:49

Luxa · 05/07/2022 20:31

At least he knows what a woman is and what body parts they don't have.

I am as GC as the next biological woman but there comes a point when we have to realise that the Tories /ErF have screwed the country so deeply and brazenly (rather like their PM screws his women) that we have to vote macro economics and leave gender politics for another election /forum

DowningStreetParty · 05/07/2022 20:51

YABU. God yes he should resign now. Immediately.
I’m a Labour voter and I’m way past wanting him to hang on in hopes of getting the Tories out for a generation. Things are so fucking volatile at the moment that some other crisis will come along in the meantime and overshadow the unchallenged corruption and the colossal fuck ups he makes all the time and he’ll be tolerated or even popular again.

We literally can’t afford not to have immediate change at the top. Now. People will starve and freeze this winter if we don’t. I don’t trust Johnson not to try to even drag us into war or something so he can regain popularity. He absolutely must resign.

MaggieFS · 05/07/2022 20:51

Can he even call an election? What are the rules around fixed terms?

You are completely wrong - he is the best asset the rotors have. That’s why people voted for him
