To ask if you pluck your chin?!

Musing this today as I was out and about and whilst holding my hand to my chin, felt another course hair and couldn't wait to get home and pluck the fucker out.

I noticed in my early twenties that my two small moles in my chin had grown unsightly hairs so I plucked them. Over time, more hairs sprouted from them...then I noticed the odd very long or very course hair on my jawline so would also pluck those out.

I reckon at 42 now I have about 14 hairs that I keep an eye on and pluck. This seems insane to me and was talking to two friends about it earlier. One smiled and nodded and said she does the same and the other scrunched her nose and said it was super weird! I should add the plucker is also quite moley so no idea if that's why!

So, is this a weird thing to do? Does it get worse with age? Am I destined to just add more and more to my plucking routine??

Yes, for maybe 20 years now, but then I’m fairly ancient.
I don’t go anywhere now without tweezers in my bag. All too easy to miss one (mine are fair) and only realise when you’re halfway there that there’s a monster you missed.
I swear that monsters can sometimes appear overnight!!

I have bad news. I took my tweezers and magnifying mirror into the car as some posters suggested. It was like something out of a nightmare!!

At least 4 thick hairs I'd missed on my chin and my eyebrows (which I pluck regularly) looked like two hairy caterpillars.

I'm going to pluck outside in the natural light more regularly!!

Honestly take a stand mirror to a sunny windowsill. Ban the family sniggerers. I use a X7 MAGNIFYING side. Tweezerman and pluck.

I do this, it’s amazing what you spot. I do it on my lunch break wfh whilst my family are at work/school and hope my neighbours can’t see!

My whole face is hairy but my chin is Awful, i pluck it everyday. I used to wax but can't be bothered now. I made the mistake of shaving my face when i was a teenager and the hairs got worse :(
i was checked for PCO and over active thyroid. Was negative. I'm just a hairy person lol

I didn't. Then I bought better reading glasses and was horrified at what I saw.
I do now.

Not just chin hairs (which are easy to see, nice to stroke, and deeply satisfying to pluck) but I also have an abundant of THROAT HAIRS.
These are much softer and longer and I can sometimes feel them but they're really hard to pluck in the mirror. I have to gurn, giving myself a double chin, to be able to get a chance of seeing them

Black mascara on them 🙈

I get great satisfaction every time I have good pluck , DH seems to always catch me and loves to say not by the hair on my chinny chin chin

Playplayaway · 29/06/2022 15:22

Plucker here.

Shaving just cuts it off blunt at the skin leaving stubble. Plucking pulls more length so so it doesn't grow back so fast or stubbly.

VestaTilley · 29/06/2022 15:25

Yup, every week! They’re always popping up. Mercifully my moustache is less noticeable as I get older; I still have that waxed every now and then.

I just use tweezers on my jawline and chin, have even had to pluck the end of my nose!!

SpiderVersed · 29/06/2022 15:33

Like @Saracen I used to use tweezers most mornings but after about age 48 it was unsustainable; I’d have to spend hours each week yanking the bastards.

Now I mostly shave, and pluck any outliers I miss.

Inthesameboatatmo · 29/06/2022 16:01

I carry tweezers and a small mirror everywhere I go . I'm always plucking a rogue hair out of my chin.

Other people aren't wandering round with X7 magnifying glasses examining your chin though, so what you're hunting down are basically invisible hairs. Why bother?

Unless your eyesight is very poor and you need X7 so that you can find the hairs which are obvious to everyone else.

Inthesameboatatmo · 30/06/2022 07:25

I've also got one really long hair that suddenly appears growing from my nipple. It's a good inch long and really course. Ffs .
