To ask if you pluck your chin?!

Musing this today as I was out and about and whilst holding my hand to my chin, felt another course hair and couldn't wait to get home and pluck the fucker out.

I noticed in my early twenties that my two small moles in my chin had grown unsightly hairs so I plucked them. Over time, more hairs sprouted from them...then I noticed the odd very long or very course hair on my jawline so would also pluck those out.

I reckon at 42 now I have about 14 hairs that I keep an eye on and pluck. This seems insane to me and was talking to two friends about it earlier. One smiled and nodded and said she does the same and the other scrunched her nose and said it was super weird! I should add the plucker is also quite moley so no idea if that's why!

So, is this a weird thing to do? Does it get worse with age? Am I destined to just add more and more to my plucking routine??

I have one rogue wiry one. I like it to get long enough to twiddle for a couple of days before I pluck it. Then I keep it for a bit to wonder at - I sit it on the edge of my white keyboard to show it's dark thickness off.

This made me not feel alone lolGrin
My dh, ds, dd (adults)-not that it makes it any better and myself like to show our unusual hairs to each other.

Bloody hell, I pluck nearly every day as the wee bastards don't appear simultaneously. I have made a pact with two friends in a similar position if any of us are ever in a coma we will pluck for each other. Otherwise, our family won't know us!

@buffyismyaltaego ^^ they're the sort if friends you need!!

<side eyes nose wrinkling 'friend>

yep been plucking for a few years now. The odd one I can accept, but on occasion it gets worrying. Another hormonal drama!!

Laser hair removal. It's amazing

shivawn · 25/06/2022 21:34

Yep, maybe 2 hairs a month. I do have a couple moles but none on my face.

ChipsRoastOrBoiled · 25/06/2022 21:36

Yep. Since the menopause I've had 3 or 4 chin hairs sprouting repeatedly. One of those dermaplane razor things is quick and easy but plucking is better, I find.

bellac11 · 25/06/2022 21:37

I have a horrible mixture of very fine downy hair, right big thick black hair and right big thick white hair. I have had it all over the years, electrolysis, lazer, waxing, shaving, I now use a mixture of epilating and plucking. Nothing is perfect, ive always got something that either I missed, or cant get to, or the epilator wont get. if I shave then I end up with 5 o clock shadow by the end of the day or stubble that grows so slowly I cant get to it so it just sits there. Im sick of it.

SusieSimpleman · 25/06/2022 21:37

I'm 36 and have one on the underside of my chin.

I noticed it a few months ago and it was a true WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT moment. Huge and thick and spiky, I've no idea how it reached the length it did before I noticed. Now I pluck it weekly whilst scouring my chin for others.

Wam90 · 25/06/2022 21:38

Yes! And the fair ones that can’t be seen but can be felt are the most satisfying to get! 😏

NiqueNique · 25/06/2022 21:39

I didn’t used to. But I’m now 46 and in the past few years I’ve got two hairs on my chin that I have to pluck every so often. It’s a pain, quite literally, as I don’t like the pain.

QuestionableMouse · 25/06/2022 21:39

I bought a IPL but I'm too chicken to use it. Have loads of the fuckers due to PCOS.

NiqueNique · 25/06/2022 21:41

I use a Lumea everywhere else, but it doesn’t work on the thick, coarse, hormonal ones (IME).

I didnt find lazering or electrolysis worked for me, apparently lazer wont get white fur on white skin either and I have quite a healthy blond moustache

Throughabushbackwards · 25/06/2022 21:42

Hollywood Browser all over the face. Gets rid of fuzz and hairs and makes your makeup sit smoothly on your skin.

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 25/06/2022 21:43

God yes. Ever since I turned 40, but never before that, so must be hormal and age-related. I'm blonde, so they're almost invisible, but they resemble toothbrush bristles in texture so I can feel them sprouting. At least 2 or 3 every single day. I recommend Tweezerman mini slanted - I have one in every bag and almost every room...

Yes this is what I found and what was I was told too, the big black PCOS ones even though they should work with lazering didnt for me. I cant imagine what Ive spent on this problem over the years.

scoobydoo1971 · 25/06/2022 21:43

With PCOS, I would look like a teenage boy without the aid of a tweezers. However, the hair volume is vastly decreased with once yearly laser sessions, and watching my sugar intake (insulin resistance makes hair volume much worse). I find rubbing in a water based cream to my chin helps to prevent me from destroying my skin while removing the hedge.

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 25/06/2022 21:43

Yes! Since I was 19 Blush

SweatyChamoisPad · 25/06/2022 21:44

Another PCOS sufferer - I’ve had a full on lady beard since I was 18. Have plucked, creamed, threaded, shaved and lasered for the whole of my adult life until I was 45, bit the bullet and went for electrolysis. At first I had to go twice a week but five years later it’s down to once a month. 150 years ago I would have been an exhibit in a travelling circus.

AnybodyAnywhere · 25/06/2022 21:44

I don’t do anything now I’ve had electrolysis 😃

I’m 67 and since menopause I’ve been quite capable of growing a full beard … now I have the hairless chin of my younger self….it’s changed my world 😊

shoofly · 25/06/2022 21:45

I spent an open bloody fortune in my 20's on electrolysis. Delighted to finally get rid of them. I'm 51 now, had to start plucking them again the last few years. The coarse pure white ones are really irritating because varifocals mean I can't see the damn things

Leah2005 · 25/06/2022 21:45

I've got one just under my chin but the one that bugs me the most is the spiky one I can feel on my bum cheek - I have no recollection how I originally found it. I get both of them with an epilady as I'm not dextrous enough for tweezers.

bellac11 · 25/06/2022 21:45

Also do people find it difficult to get close enough to a mirror to see these things. I have a shaving mirror in the bathroom that comes out on an arm so I can look right into it, with the light shining on my face from the window, but its better on one side than the other because of the position

But if we go to stay somewhere, theres nearly always only a mirror over a sink, no where near a light source. Im also very very short sighted so have to be right up close to a mirror even with my glasses on to see them. Theres never enough light on the situation.

Idontgiveashitanymore · 25/06/2022 21:45

Plucked when younger (pcos) just shave now post menopause

Blueuggboots · 25/06/2022 21:46
