To ask if you pluck your chin?!

Musing this today as I was out and about and whilst holding my hand to my chin, felt another course hair and couldn't wait to get home and pluck the fucker out.

I noticed in my early twenties that my two small moles in my chin had grown unsightly hairs so I plucked them. Over time, more hairs sprouted from them...then I noticed the odd very long or very course hair on my jawline so would also pluck those out.

I reckon at 42 now I have about 14 hairs that I keep an eye on and pluck. This seems insane to me and was talking to two friends about it earlier. One smiled and nodded and said she does the same and the other scrunched her nose and said it was super weird! I should add the plucker is also quite moley so no idea if that's why!

So, is this a weird thing to do? Does it get worse with age? Am I destined to just add more and more to my plucking routine??

I pluck my chin every week... I call it my weekly harvest Smile

WhatsitWiggle · 25/06/2022 22:41

Not since I bought my Lumea in 2020. Before that, the underneath of my chin was rapidly sprouting course, dark hairs and there was a persistant little bugger right on my jawline that would appear to grow overnight.

Now they've all disappeared (along with my underarm hair and lower leg hair).

I have spotted a hair growing out the side of my nose though, that ones super fine so I only notice once it's about a cm long!

Intheflicker · 25/06/2022 22:42

I shave my face, I always have done.

liftitlikeitshot · 25/06/2022 22:43

I'm 30 and I have 2 chin hairs I need to pluck along with mannnny nipple hairs which I also pluck. The joys. I have PCOS.

Queenie24 · 25/06/2022 22:43

So does everyone make it so that their faces are smooth?

Littlepixie85 · 25/06/2022 22:44

Oh yes, I've got a scar on the bottom of my chin where random black hairs grow from. Also the mirror on the sun shade of the passenger car seat always highlights black facial hairs unseen from any other mirror!

Hedonism · 25/06/2022 22:44

I've got a patch of about a dozen on one side of my jaw. Weirdly not the other side. I'm a little bit obsessed with tweezing them, and this thread has given me reassurance that I'm not alone!

Pbbananabagel · 25/06/2022 22:44

Yes! Almost daily.

Blimeyherewegoagain · 25/06/2022 22:45

I epilate too. The moustache bit is eye watering!

Stressedout65 · 25/06/2022 22:49

I don't have moles or pcos but find since menopause started I have to pluck. They seem to appear out of nowhere & it's so satisfying to pluck the gits out! At the beginning I had a very long throat one appear from nowhere overnight. How did it grow so iong while I was asleep? I was so shocked I dreamt I grew a beard like Seasick Steve's a couple of nights later.
Now I carry a pocket mirror & pair of tweezers in my bag at all times, just in case. I can't concentrate at work if I can feel one popping through

It is isnt it, I cant bear the very centre so it sits there like a mini blonde hitler moustache

Neolara · 25/06/2022 22:53

Hate to break it to you, but you get more the older you get. On the plus side, they turn white so are less visible.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 25/06/2022 22:58

I have about 3 hairs and they randomly grow - fine in the morning when moisturising but then by 11am at work the fuckers are there! I have tweezers in the desk drawer!

NeedAHoliday2021 · 25/06/2022 23:01

@Blimeyherewegoagain l have a finishing touch flawless thing for moustache but I just get a few dark hairs that I don’t like. No pain at all and lasts quite well. One of the moustache hairs is thicker so I pull that one out. That’s one of my 3 - other 2 are chin.

Welshmaenad · 25/06/2022 23:03

No.

My kids fight over who gets to do it for me.

Weird little fuckers 😂

saltinesandcoffeecups · 25/06/2022 23:09

I’ve embraced the fact that I have chin hairs - I call them goat hairs. Yes the get plucked! I then had to go to an epilator for the mustache and soul patch that decided to make an appearance. The thing I wasn’t prepared for… nose hairs!

OMG… one day fine the next day it looked like I’d stuffed a wooly caterpillar in each nostril. Yeah, anything that makes a break for it out of my nostril gets plucked

Protip for the translucent chin hairs - UV natural spectrum daylight lamp, magnified hand mirror, and magnifying cheater glasses.

Figmentofimagination · 25/06/2022 23:18

I started with the odd hair in a mole under my chin in my late teens that then became a few hairs, then early 20's the odd one appeared on both corners of my chin (no moles).
Now 34 and I have loads on both corners of my chin, going up to my lip (bit like a goatee) and across my jawline to my sideburns.
I hate it. I blame my endo.
First I plucked until it got too much, then moved to waxing but I hated having to hide myself when I needed them to grow for the next waxing appointment. I invested in a lumea that helped a bit with the jawline but not so much the chin corners. Unfortunately I broke my lumea (right before a holiday as well 😩) so I'm now shaving every day as it's quicker than plucking. If I'm not going anywhere for a couple of days and don't need to be on camera for work I let them grow and spend ages plucking which means I then have a few days with no hairs.
Contemplating a lady facial shaver if anyone has one they recommend?

RuthW · 25/06/2022 23:20

If I didn't pluck I would have a beard. I'm mid 50s

Thing is I need 3 hands, I cant hold a mirror, and pull my face around and tweeze the hairs.

Clearthinking · 25/06/2022 23:23

Yes! One either side of my chin. I stroke them like its my evil plan coming together face. Treated myself to some Tweezerman tweezers (sharp as anything - might aswell get the best tools for the job) yup I love yanking them out weekly!

Try doing it laying down. I use my phone for extra light!

DaphneSprucesPippasClack · 25/06/2022 23:41

Am 50+ have around 20 repeat offenders I keep my eye on. By the time my gran was 100 she had a small beard that. The home just shaved off for special occasions

ExhaustedButHappy80 · 25/06/2022 23:46

I’m 42 and have had quite a few for years now. I call them my “witch hairs” and find it very satisfying to pluck them.

inappropriateraspberry · 25/06/2022 23:47

I have one. It was dark, but now grows out as grey, even though I don't have any grey hair on my head otherwise! It pops up very suddenly and can be gone a while after plucking. I keep checking, then bam! It appears overnight.

I use a little tilting stand mirror II thought that might be too complicated to say, but clearly it wasn’t). That way I can aim the light onto the mirror to reflect up to my goat hairs.
