To ask if you pluck your chin?!

Musing this today as I was out and about and whilst holding my hand to my chin, felt another course hair and couldn't wait to get home and pluck the fucker out.

I noticed in my early twenties that my two small moles in my chin had grown unsightly hairs so I plucked them. Over time, more hairs sprouted from them...then I noticed the odd very long or very course hair on my jawline so would also pluck those out.

I reckon at 42 now I have about 14 hairs that I keep an eye on and pluck. This seems insane to me and was talking to two friends about it earlier. One smiled and nodded and said she does the same and the other scrunched her nose and said it was super weird! I should add the plucker is also quite moley so no idea if that's why!

So, is this a weird thing to do? Does it get worse with age? Am I destined to just add more and more to my plucking routine??

It's the I'm a celeb/ wilderness stay/ hospital stay / coma that is the thing.

Obviously I won't be on I'm a celeb but if I was I would HAVE to be allowed to take in tweezers and a mirror.

I am definitely concerned that one day I will be one of PP's old ladies in hospital with a beard and moustache

Blueuggboots · 25/06/2022 21:46

Illuminated is probably a better word than lit!!

TheresNoPlaceLikeHomeRubySlippers · 25/06/2022 21:48

Another vote for one of those little razors.

I use a Japanese brand and they're great. No irritation (which I do get with waxing) and every hair goes. I get the peach fizz mainly, but occasional coarse ones

NoToLandfill · 25/06/2022 21:50

IPL and zap each week. Keeps them under control.

QuizzlyBears · 25/06/2022 21:51

Yes - chin and neck get a once over every day!

buffyismyaltaego · 25/06/2022 21:52

Don't get me started on the white ones!

I started getting white ones a few years ago and they're so easy to miss! The other day I found one that was so long, it had a curl in it!! I was mortified....

No, I have never done this. I'm not a very hairy person, am very fair and just don't have that much body hair even on my limbs.

SummerPuddings · 25/06/2022 21:54

Get a springy thing op.

BiscoffSundae · 25/06/2022 21:54

I have one random hair that grows out of my chin I’ve had it since my early 20s!! I plucked it every time I saw it but now it’s randomly disappeared and hasn’t come back in about a year, I don’t have any others

DiamondBright · 25/06/2022 22:03

Since menopause started I've got really hairy, I keep tweezers in the bathroom cabinet and check for the thicker darker ones regularly. The finer, lighter ones I get with one of those facial shavers, at least every other day.

I also use a nose hair trimmer because that's also out of control.

Pre menopause I just had one big one that sprouted on my neck and some finer moustache hair. The neck one now comes out white !!!!

LaWench · 25/06/2022 22:04

Chin hair and the tache were the reason I splurged on a Lumea, it's been a lifesaver, kills the hair asap. I now treat it once a year to keep it at bay.

Snozzlemaid · 25/06/2022 22:05

Yes, I pluck too.
One of the best things about working from home is when I'm working and inadvertently put my hand to my chin and feel one that's just appeared from nowhere. I can immediately go and pluck the bastard out.
Used to drive me mad in the office knowing it was there.

GirlOfTudor · 25/06/2022 22:06

I definitely do! They started aged around 20. I'm now 27. They got worse during pregnancy (funny how your hairs supposed to grow thick and luscious, but only those hairs did 😂) and aren't back to normal 1 year after giving birth 🙄
It is very satisfying to pluck them though!

buffyismyaltaego · 25/06/2022 22:09

So glad I started this thread. I feel so normal now!!

Oh yes… mucho satisfaction 🥳

Spacemonkey2016 · 25/06/2022 22:19

I love this thread. I thought I was the only one! I have to do it at least every other day. Nice to know it's not as abnormal as I thought.

Tweezerman - Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover

from Amazon. Normal tweezering was giving me spots. This remover pulls the bastards out from the roots but doesn’t seem to cause me spots and I don’t need to be looking in a mirror. Just roll the springy thing.

Queenie24 · 25/06/2022 22:28

This is a great thread to read. I have fine blonde hair all on my chin lip and jaw line, it shows when the sun catches them. I have no idea what to do and have nobody to ask. I also get the sun Denny inch long dark ones which I pluck but it’s the blonde all over ones I don’t know what to do about. I’m 41 and they are getting more noticeable.

supertedlasso · 25/06/2022 22:29

What I don't get is how they go from not being there to 1 inch long in what seems like 12 hours. I use a torch when I do my chin hair sweeps, I should be seeing them before they're that long. Hmm evil wee CFs.

SpringIntoChaos · 25/06/2022 22:34

I find 'chin hair plucking' weirdly therapeutic 🤣

Oddly, I don't get the same feeling when I have to pluck the two very long black hairs from the middle of my cleavage! Those buggers annoy me no end.

MsOllie · 25/06/2022 22:36

They just appear overnight! Mine are pale at least (I'm a redhead)
I pluck any I see but use a blade to dermaplane every week too

CaptainTroy · 25/06/2022 22:36

No, never done that.

Runnerduck34 · 25/06/2022 22:38

Yep,it's getting worse the older I get, need to pluck every day really, nightmare, fair skin, dark hair, peri menopausal, if I'm ever unable to do it would be dreadful, I've told my daughters to do it if I'm ever unable to but doubt they would! My mum has dementia and I pluck her chin most times I see her. If only we were conditioned to think hairy chins in women were beautiful or at least acceptable!

AnnieSnap · 25/06/2022 22:39

Chin, under chin, bits of neck and more recently some on the side of my face 🙄🤬🤬

Yes the horror of looking in the mirror and seeing one so long that it’s curling round on itself when you swear it wasn’t there the night before.

I tweeze daily, otherwise I’d have a beard.
