To ask if you pluck your chin?!

Musing this today as I was out and about and whilst holding my hand to my chin, felt another course hair and couldn't wait to get home and pluck the fucker out.

I noticed in my early twenties that my two small moles in my chin had grown unsightly hairs so I plucked them. Over time, more hairs sprouted from them...then I noticed the odd very long or very course hair on my jawline so would also pluck those out.

I reckon at 42 now I have about 14 hairs that I keep an eye on and pluck. This seems insane to me and was talking to two friends about it earlier. One smiled and nodded and said she does the same and the other scrunched her nose and said it was super weird! I should add the plucker is also quite moley so no idea if that's why!

So, is this a weird thing to do? Does it get worse with age? Am I destined to just add more and more to my plucking routine??

So comforting to know I'm not alone. One reason why I loved wearing a mask. Philips bikini epilator for me, works wonders!

FelicityFlops · 26/06/2022 15:16

Mystified. Are you talking about hare coursing or coarse hairs?
Enjoy a good plucking session, usually about twice a month. Echo PP about the ones now growing white, quite difficult to see, ditto the couple that lurk in the fold of my chin. Have been known to take the Braun epilator to them as well.

trulyconfuseddotcom · 26/06/2022 20:22

Yep, just did it today. Combo of a few dark hairs, some coarse white hairs and some general pale face fluff. I have a 2-stage process: first plucking out the coarse and the dark ones, then using the Flawless electric shaver thingy for the fluff. All with the aid of a wee freestanding lighted magnifying mirror. Always travel with my tweezers so I can catch the little blighters when they spontaneously appear! The absolute best place to do it is in an airplane loo, the hideously unflattering lighting is awesome for seeing all the evil face hairs.

Welcome to middle age 🤣

Toddlerteaplease · 26/06/2022 20:37

I've had laser treatment. Amazing difference!

justasking111 · 26/06/2022 20:47

Wax stripped this morning in between I pluck. Waxing seems to last longer than plucking. Have a stand mirror one side is X7 magnification plonk on windowsill shows up everything. I have too many to count now, coarse white, fine white and nasty black that also appear on my cheeks

Duettino · 26/06/2022 20:51

Excellent. In the last five years, I have started to have one thick black hair on my chinny chin chin. Sounds like I should look forward to it getting some friends soon enough.

I first spotted it when the sun shone on me while driving. I was mortified wondering how long it had been there. It returns sooner after each pluck now.

denbigh · 26/06/2022 21:34

Ooh I'm Indian and the fuckers on my chin are like pubes in strength but wait till the fuckers turn white and you distort yourself trying to see them to eliminate! That said..I do find it fun, and always surprised by how feckn quick they grow! Hair on head.. minimal growth.. chin hair is as though on steroids..I honestly have to travel with tweezers now.. repulsed and fascinated in equal measure on the horrible side effects of ageing..

mcplant · 26/06/2022 21:38

I pluck. It's not there and then all of a sudden there is this massive hair. My DH calls it George 😂

buffyismyaltaego · 25/06/2022 21:13

Oh it really is isn't it. Honestly all day I could feel the coarse fucker and couldn't wait to get in and pull it out

I’m so glad it’s not just me! If I feel one I can’t relax til I pluck it out 😂

IdaFlowers · 26/06/2022 21:43

I'm 51 and I bought a light up mirror from amazon (rechargeable) It's made it so much easier to see them in the magnifying bit. Wish I'd bought it years ago.

Summerwhereareyou · 26/06/2022 22:41

Those who use laser, how do you know the person doing it has all the creds?

Years ago, maybe 20 I had a dreadful experience with laser and got burnt!

Eddmr · 27/06/2022 08:41

I used to shave once or twice a day. Always conscious of the hair. Tried laser but it didn't work for me. Now having electrolysis every two weeks. It seems to be working and it's lovely not to have to worry about them.

I shave, usually once a day as I have beard coverage over my lower face and throat. I have a Phillips Lumea and it's definitely better because of that but not complete.

I work with older women in hospital and yes many of them grow beards while inpatients.

This is my absolute fear, to turn into a bearded lady while in hospital. How on earth do we stop this happening?

Does it work with white hairs though?

chocolatemademefat · 27/06/2022 10:30

One of my biggest fears is growing too old to pluck them. I imagine myself in a care home with a beard!

BMW6 · 27/06/2022 10:37

I have 4 pet chin hairs that I pluck regularly. Missed spotting one for ages and I swear the fucker was 3 inches long 😠

My waxer recommended them! Chain of clinics in UK and Ireland rather than a lone operator, so trusted they will have to do checks and training

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 28/06/2022 23:22

I don't think I have PCOS (periods are regularly every 24 days but short and heavy) but I do have a very hairy chin and pluck it accordingly. I'm mid 20s so if it gets worse with age I suppose I'm in for even more of a treat later on.

Stoptherideiwannagetoff · 28/06/2022 23:30

I have to. The bastards are as thicker than pubic hair. I can leave the house in the morning with none and 2pm, BOOM, a half centimetre black half tree sprouting from my chin or upper lip... And they're multiplying 😡 the worst indignity is now some of them are grey and even tougher! Laser removal is definitely in my future but for now the tweezers and mirror live in my purse!

Saracen · 29/06/2022 01:23

Not anymore, too much work now there are so many hairs! Now I just shave. I don't know why I resisted shaving for such a long time. It's an easy solution.

PinkSyCo · 29/06/2022 06:23

I only have the one long chin hair that seems to suddenly sprout out of nowhere around every 3 months. I zap it with an epilator when I remember, but rather miss it when it’s gone as I have nothing to twiddle with while I’m trying to get off to sleep at night.

MrsElm · 29/06/2022 06:26

I would actually describe it as one of my hobbies 😫🤣

NoToLandfill · 29/06/2022 10:23

You need to get them lazered or IPL before they lose colour. As it only works if the colour in the hair transmits the heat energy down into the hair follicle and zaps it inactive.
