…to wonder where all the stick deodorant has gone?

Has anyone been finding it hard to find stick deodorant? None available in my local Boots or Sainsburys- is there some deodorant shortage I haven’t read about?

Supply of Mitchum should be fine I think is made in the US.

You'd think the owner of Dove and Sure must be looking at moving production but that's not something that would happen quickly.

Nope. I have one mitchum unscented stick left and haven't found any replacements. I was using tissues (which also seem to be sporadic in supply) to scrape out my last one until it got to the point where I was getting smelly by 3pm.

Is Wild the one from Dragons Den?

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 06/08/2022 23:46

Yes! Ive used dove original stick for as long as I can remember but it's out of stock everywhere. I even called them and they said as its made in Russia so it will only be brought back if they can manufacture elsewhere but no promises.

I've resorted to bulk buying at an extortionate price from ebay because nothing else works for me.

ohblowmedown · 11/08/2022 15:23

No Mitchum left in our big Tesco. I ordered some sure maximum protection from Amazon pack of 6 for £21 which is a fiver in the shops. That'll last me a while.

Thanks @MyrtlethePurpleTurtle but I'm sure they're the stick type but with cream in, the solid soap type don't come in boxes. Thank you for thinking of us though.

Ah. Then are these the ones (local Boots)?

Mitchel is £2 in Boots. Plus I found this: https://youtube.com/shorts/jr79r7uoKE4

SRK16 · 13/08/2022 12:02

I’ve bought the boxed sure one, it’s good. Not as good as the usual sure/dove sticks but much better than roll on, and much better than the Mitchum stick which was useless.

Dingledoodie · 13/08/2022 13:52

Yes!!!

I've noticed it's been getting harder and harder to find for about two years. I'd resorted to buying in bulk from Amazon (Subscribe & Save) but I just got a message today saying that they'd stopped stocking it. Hence why I'm here, after Googling why it's so hard to find these days. 😉

Myself and my partner HATE sprays and roll-ons.

I mentioned it to a friend who also prefers sticks/solids, and she now uses Fussy. www.getfussy.com. So, that might be my next resort.

Those are the ones Myrtle - including the Nivea ones next to them.
Am wondering how you have them by you still when I've not been able to get any Nivea (or my first choice, Dove) since about May.
£5 seems very steep mind.

Hi, @Kite22 - these are in the Boots in tbe Lewisham Shopping Centre (London). Maybe it’s old stock and there’s not much demand? Can check the labels etc next time I’m there, if you like

It’s £3 in my local Tesco (south east London)

Plenty on Amazon

And Ebay

karrie92 · 28/08/2022 21:31

It’s because they are made in Russia

Joojoo5 · 29/08/2022 11:40

Apparently they’ve withdrawn due to a cancer causing ingredient in it….

Reallyreallyborednow · 29/08/2022 12:01

Apparently they’ve withdrawn due to a cancer causing ingredient in it….

source?

there’s been a recall of some deodorants in North America due to contamination with Benzene which is carcinogenic, but these are exclusively sprays.

sticks don’t need solvents so unlikely to contain anything carcinogenic…

Joojoo5 · 29/08/2022 14:10

Totally agree with you! Each to their own but why even comment on this thread if you don’t care about stick deodorants??!

Reallyreallyborednow · 29/08/2022 14:48

was that responding to me?

if so how do you reach the conclusion I don’t care about stick deodorants by challenging someone who comes on and posts a scare story with no basis in fact?

what was your post trying to achieve? Scare everyone away from using stick deodorant with a cancer scare story?

Rachay · 29/08/2022 20:06

Dove stick deodorant is now MADE IN ITALY !! i GOT SOME IN B&M at Edinburgh today so hopefully it will be everywhere soon

ToffeeNotCoffee · 29/08/2022 20:29

Great. I got some Dove stick deodorant in the Boots in small town Scotland back in June.

Kite22 · 29/08/2022 21:37

Ooh, that's good news Rachay

karrie92 · 29/08/2022 21:45

thank you for letting us know! :)

Dinoteeth · 29/08/2022 22:48

@Rachay that's good news. I did suspect they'd try to get manufacturering somewhere else in Europe. So hopefully it won't be long before they are back in stock everywhere.

SILdidittoo · 01/09/2022 07:11

Sure is back too, and also now made in Italy.

Dinoteeth · 01/09/2022 09:20

Sure & Dove are both made by Unilever so probably in the same factory. Good news though!
