…to wonder where all the stick deodorant has gone?

Has anyone been finding it hard to find stick deodorant? None available in my local Boots or Sainsburys- is there some deodorant shortage I haven’t read about?

Wilkos sell several different stick deodorants and last time I was there they had plenty.

2TheLighthouse · 12/06/2022 17:40

I’ve noticed this too.

And I literally can’t understand how people use roll-on. Do you wander around with your arms up waiting for it to dry before you get dressed? Or blow-dry your armpits? Or just put clothes on top of the wet stickiness?! Don’t get it!

Pupdate292 · 12/06/2022 17:41

I hope not! We're not allowed to wear spray deodorant in work, I'll be absolutely stinking!

Rosehugger · 12/06/2022 17:43

I buy packs of 6 on Amazon.

Chuffinch4 · 12/06/2022 17:45

I use Secret stick deodorant, invisible solid powder fresh, it’s the only one that works for me, haven’t been able to buy it in this country for 10+ years so I used to buy it on eBay shipped from America, now Amazon have it, so I buy it from there also shipped from America and then resold on there. From looking at my order history, a box of 5s ticks lasts me 16 ish months and costs about £24.

squareframe · 12/06/2022 17:46

Ha, I thought that when I went shopping yesterday! I hate the roll ons, too sticky. No dove/nivea/sure solid ones to be had.

No I find it dries instantly, either that or I don't worry about it going on clothes. The only time I've ever noticed it was on a little black dress - so not exactly a daily issue! And even then it sponged off in seconds, no drama. I can't believe people even bother waiting for deodorant to dry, why would you? I wouldn't bother with a spray, I only need it on my armpits and it's much easier to direct where I'm putting it. Plus aerosols make me sneeze and cough.

TrobadoraBeatrice · 12/06/2022 17:50

If you're not looking for a particular brand, TK Maxx usually has stick deodorant (mostly "natural" brands so more likely to be deodorant than antiperspirant)

jackstini · 12/06/2022 17:51

Just went to add to my Tesco order and whilst there are some showing, they are now £4-£5! Shock

TheYearOfSmallThings · 12/06/2022 17:55

Not noticed any shortage but watch out for Sanex changing to a deodorant rather than antiperspirant.

Yes! I got caught out by this!

I bought what I thought was a new scent of Sanex and noticed that it wasn't nearly as effective. When I checked the small print, it has no antiperspirant - I threw it away and bought Sure instead. It should have been mucy clearer.

blitzen · 12/06/2022 17:58

I've been using the dove stick forever and gutted to have had to try a different kind of dove stick cream thing. Hope my old one returns. Wish they would do refills though. X

SquirrelSoShiny · 12/06/2022 18:01

Mitchum stick is awesome. Hate sprays and icky wet roll ons!

stuntbubbles · 12/06/2022 18:04

Another vote for Wild, especially now it’s in Sainsbury’s! Refills are compostable so zero waste. Quite spendy but not if you bulk buy when it’s on sale.

icelollycraving · 12/06/2022 18:07

I work for a beauty company. There is a shortage of some of the mechanisms for them and shipping on them has become almost impossible. Hope that helps 🙂

mrsfeatherbottom · 12/06/2022 18:10

I was going to post this the other day as cannot get them anywhere, having tried multiple supermarkets and chemists.

Blossomandbee · 12/06/2022 18:22

I usually buy mine from Savers but I had noticed the choice has got a lot smaller and I've only been able to get Nivea which I'm not so keen on.
Like others I get sore with aerosols and I can't stand the wetness of roll ons.

hangrylady · 12/06/2022 18:29

I thought it was just me. I use the dove stick and haven't seen it anywhere so have had to get standard roll on, which is a bit sticky until dry but I actually think is more effective.

I flap like a chicken and sometimes blast with the hairdryer!

BusySittingDown · 12/06/2022 18:38

I've had the same problem - usually get Dove but had to buy a Sure one. OMG though - it smells amazing, like holidays.

poweredbyplants · 13/06/2022 17:42

I've switched to Wild and love it, went away for a couple days and forgot to pack it and there was one choice of stick deodorants among the hundreds of roll ons and sprays.

poweredbyplants · 13/06/2022 17:45

PermanentlyTired03 · 12/06/2022 16:59

Another vote for wild. Lasts a long time and they sell the refills in boots now

It's actually cheaper to buy it from boots than from their own site! Less choice though, I really want to try the rhubarb and raspberry scent.

littlegreenheart · 13/06/2022 18:03

It's gone to the USA apparently. I was there recently and ran out of roll-on antiperspirant. Tried several different shops all with row upon row of stick and the occasional aerosol spray, but no roll-on at all. Finally found a place that had something called "Ban" in unscented and baby powder flavours - but only in a 102 ml size, so just a fraction too big to carry on my flight...

CounsellorTroi · 13/06/2022 18:14

Yes I noticed a shortage in Tesco. Ended up buying Mitchum Natural Power stick, which is just a deodorant, aluminium free but has bamboo powder and it does seem to work - keeps me dry even though it’s not supposed to be an antiperspirant.

Ohsugarhoneyicetea · 12/06/2022 16:25

I use Wild, its a subscription service, you reuse the container so less waste. I like it.

Wild costs a stupid amount of money. Hardly more sustainable when they sent 1000s to "influencers" to promote who use it once for an ad and then probably throw it away.

APurpleSquirrel · 13/06/2022 18:52

I thought it was just me! I keep an eye out for Dove Invisible stick when I'm in Home Bargains etc, but not seen any for ages. Might have to use Amazon at this rate.
