…to wonder where all the stick deodorant has gone?

Has anyone been finding it hard to find stick deodorant? None available in my local Boots or Sainsburys- is there some deodorant shortage I haven’t read about?

Yes this is really a thing! We've been trying to get the stick anti-perspirant/deodorant that my husband uses for a couple of months now and it seems to have vanished from Boots, Superdrug, Sainsbury's, Waitrose etc... It's old spice originial performance stick and we ended paying too much for a six pack from Amazon.

Supply chain issues/Brexit crap no doubt.

TheSunshineSanctuary · 14/06/2022 13:27

Another vote for Wild - I'm not usually keen on the feel of roll on / stick deodorants but I'm a convert... works better at keeping me fresh than my previous spray and better for the environment too. Its £15 every 3 months (depending on the frequency you select), but I've found that they last me longer than a month each. So yes, probably works out more expensive but I think its worth it.

Talipesmum · 14/06/2022 14:53

Just adding another voice of “yes I can’t get any either” to the crowd. Usually get them on the Sainsburys order and a few weeks ago we went to add them and they’re totally disappeared from the site - not even “currently out of stock” but not even a searchable option.

Same on the shelves in my town centre boots and Superdrug. They’re not on the shelf, and there aren’t any empty spaces or labels for them either. No dove or sure sticks. I bought a handful of other stick ones - some weird small Nivea ones etc - but they looked low in stock too. They seem to have the “72 hour max protect” type stick ones around but not the normal ones.

I’ve just got a batch of the Dove original sticks from Amazon, but there aren’t any invisible dry ones (apart from 4 for £27 from one random seller).

And there are loads of recent complaints in the review section of the stick deodorants on the Dove website.

SausagePourHomme · 14/06/2022 17:55

Someone upthread said its because they are made in Russia, in which case i guess i would rather switch than buy from amazon.

Dinoteeth · 14/06/2022 17:59

I've just picked up a Dove one that I had in the cupboard. Sure enough it's Made in Russia.

That will be the explanation. I hadn't noticed before but noticed when I was shopping yesterday they have disappeared.

bridgetreilly · 14/06/2022 18:11

I’ve not had any issues getting it in my Tesco, thankfully. I tried Wild a year ago but it gave me a rash, sadly.

maddy68 · 14/06/2022 18:12

Plenty here in Spain so I'm guessing it's a supply issue

I buy the Dove stick one that's in a box (the one for veeery sweaty People) but I struggle to get it everywhere. Have to shop around to find it these days.

Sorry, this is my fault. I couldn't get the normal stick so shoved that in my online order instead and now I'm hooked - it's like magic oxter drying out juice. Am considering using it on my feet. Luvs it, I do. Sorry, no more for you, it's mine, all mine!

Bana86 · 22/06/2022 16:29

Had this conversation with my mum as we both use dove stick and have done so for years. She lives north wales and like me from the south west were not able to locate any in any shops… she sent me some bulk of Amazon. 👍🏻 also researched online to find out and nothing.
however… I received my bulk buy of dove this morning. I opened the packaging. Made in Russia…. Questions answered… Your welcome.

You beat me to it 😂

OopsAnotherOne · 22/06/2022 17:09

Depending on what company you buy from, their overhead company is Russian. All imports have been stopped - I only know this as my boss was having the same issue so we did some research. She was using Dove stick deodorant and that's one of the ones impacted

Lunarpsychobitch · 22/06/2022 17:21

Thank goodness I'm not alone in thinking this #savethesticks

CounsellorTroi · 22/06/2022 17:21

The Mitchum stick one I use is made in the US, but there still doesn’t seem to be a lot of it about.

Possibly because all the Dove and Sure have been taken off the market. And Sanex have changed to just a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant. I don't think Nivia make a ladies one.
So Mitchum is really the only decent one left.

PriamFarrl · 22/06/2022 18:12

I have Fussy rather than Wild Fussy doesn’t contain palm oil.

APMom6 · 22/06/2022 18:17

I’m in Dublin, Ireland and have been searching for them everywhere too. None in Boots, only mens Old Spice one in Both Tescos near me but DS doesn’t like the smell of it. I use Dove or Sure, managed to get Sanex one but will now have to check if it’s anti-perspirant or just deodorant. My Dd has also been searching. I thought I was going mad.

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 22/06/2022 18:48

B&M and Home Bargains have them, only places I've seen recently. If not, Amazon usually have good prices for Mitchum, not sure about other brands

norasbatty · 22/06/2022 19:10

This is my favourite thread ever because I thought it was just me.

SausagePourHomme · 22/06/2022 20:27

So previous dove stick users, has anyone found a replacement that is as good?

I've been using the dove max (the one in the box) and I don't like it. It makes a mess of clothing if you aren't careful, it doesn't smell right and it makes my pits itchy. Would love to find a better one.

I looked at the wild deodorant but at £5 for a tiny refill it would have to be damn good. Not sure I want to take the chance and throw money away

You're meant to apply that one at night - I find if I do that, it's all absorbed and no mess Smile

Thewomeninthemirror · 22/06/2022 21:43

Wild is awesome. I feel and smell fresh all day.

If you're properly sweaty/prone to be stinky without using a daily antiperspirant I don't think Wild works. It's just heavily scented and a bit moisturising. If you're a light sweater who doesn't tend to be whiffy then it's potentially worth trying. I found it rubbish.

What has worked for me is either AKT deodorant, which is excellent but incredibly expensive, or since the stick shortages I've been using Simple stick from Superdrug which I have been surprised by how effective it is. Assumed it would be 'gentle' but it's far more like my usual Dove in terms of efficacy.

I tried a Nivea one. Useless.

CounsellorTroi · 23/06/2022 11:23

Mitchum Natural Power stick works well for me. Even after a workout yesterday, although I was slightly damp under my arms there was no hint of odour.

Katkoool · 23/06/2022 22:46

It’s really expensive on Amazon! I tried cos I can’t find any anywhere either but I’m not paying more than double the supermarket.

I like Mitchum, isn't it made by Revlon

Could that affect it?

I have a stash but use it for work
