Starting a new thread as last one wasn't accepting new posts.. Years ago I was a young dancer and background singer .. Very shy starting out on the job I loved (age 16 ) Jim Davison was on the Sunderland Empire about 2002 ish.. He was awful.. Moody! Shouty! Miserable, Rude.😭 I danced and sang in a lot of shows afterwards, and the much bigger stars were absolutely lovely.. But he is the one I remember most.. Awful man!.. I have worked with the Nolan Sisters and they all were so lovely.. I really understand how Linda (she was so kind and lovely to me, as were all of the sisters) did not like Jim Davison when she was in Big Brother (that was not the man he acted like on that show) Out of all the 50+ lovely celebrities I worked with over 15 years(some quite famous stars) , this is the one I remember most as the most horrible one.

On that note, Victoria Coren-Mitchell heads DH's list so would be interested to know if anyone's met her.

Oh I have a V C-M story.

David Mitchell was, bafflingly (sorry DM) number one on my late mother's List.

I got her tickets to see him read from his latest book for her birthday. These are the texts I got that evening. For context my mother was disabled and walked with a stick, and was also A Character.

"Long Q 😩"
"They're letting me go to the front of the queue!"
"Oh no STAIRS!!!!!"
"Jemima I don't know what to do I don't do stairs."
"Panic over, nice man says they have disability access"
"They're letting me sit in the VIP section so I don't have to queue up and walk up stairs 😀😀😀"
"I'M IN THE VIP SECTION SITTING NEXT TO VICTORIA COREN"

Then dead silence next for the next four hours, as I imagine Victoria Coren-Mitchell coming face to face with a lust-crazed menopausal woman in love with her husband.

I walk over to the venue and meet my mother coming out, with David and Victoria, all chatting like old friends.

So V C-M v nice and friendly towards slightly insane woman who are in love with her husband, cool with disabled people taking up her VIP section, and I didn't have to bail anyone out of jail.

Amazing story 😂

He came across well on Who Do You Think You Are. Humble and unassuming.

Also great on Desert Island Discs recently!

TequilaSunriseforme · 14/06/2022 17:31

He strikes me as an old fashioned gentleman. Not many of them about anymore.

SurfBox · 14/06/2022 17:32

Richard Madden has fairly openly had long term relationships with both men and women

Where did he say that? In the interview I saw of him he said he totally refused to discuss pvt life and I've never seen him with a woman so I picked up a gay vibe, could be wrong.

SurfBox · 14/06/2022 17:35

Sorry meant to add that I saw Madden in intimate looking pics with a man who was apparently his boyfriend too online before also.

Fedupsotired · 08/06/2022 22:29

@travellinglighter I met Michael Owen and he was lovely! Spent time chatting to me and having his photo taken with me too!

Phillip Schofield an absolute arse.

Terry Butcher (footballer) so lovely and spent ages talking and asking my opinion on things.

My other half has met him and said the same, however, myself and my staff have to meet him in circumstances I can’t explain or I’d get sacked. It usually ends with him swearing and shouting at someone.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 14/06/2022 19:24

Richard Osman seems nice enough but I cringed every time he mentioned his books on Who Do you Think You Are. The book of his I read was pretty poor!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 14/06/2022 19:28

Also great on Desert Island Discs recently!

Thanks - I'll have to check that one out too!

That's lovely! We went to see Brydon, Mack and Mitchell recently, they were hilarious, just like they are on TV. I really like Victoria Coren as well, also love Only Connect although find it a lot more difficult than ROHoG!

whynotwhatknot · 14/06/2022 20:37

Great story about vcm and dm-they sound lovely

ive got a thing for richard osman aswell completely not my type but i think hes so witty

MargaretThursday · 14/06/2022 20:54

I doubt people here will believe this but Michael Gove is impeccably courteous and polite. He's also quite interesting to talk to, even if you're disagreeing with him, he listens and will answer you with respect.
I met someone who worked for him, and she said she'd worked for a lot of different celebrities and politicians and he was far and away the best.
he also had left something in the way at one place I was at, and there was an announcement over the tannoy asking whoever had left it to move it. Most people stick their heads down, and sneak off to remove it quietly later when no one's watching. He immediately got up and apologised and moved it, even though he was with others that he could have asked to do it for him.

mnahmnah · 14/06/2022 21:52

@MargaretThursday
Sorry, please no! I cannot hear anything positive about this man. I still think if he walked in any school staffroom in the country, someone would punch him 😂

Said people wouldn't believe me.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 14/06/2022 21:59

I have no problem believing Gove has lovely manners and is very polite. I'd be surprised to hear otherwise to be honest. But that's just superficial stuff.

Stressedout65 · 14/06/2022 22:22

@Trudij123 I was just about to add Huey Morgan from the Fun Lovin Criminals too. I'd loved him & their music for years. Lost count of the number of times I've seen them too.
He comes across as very arrogant in interviews & really they're not massive superstars. I finally met him when he was dj at a small club in Leicester. Totally arrogant, wasn't reading the room regarding the music. Then a lad asked him to actually play a whole song instead of chopping & changing halfway through every song. They nearly came to blows with Huey pushing the lad in the chest a couple of times. Total overreaction & a complete knobhead

StitchInLime · 14/06/2022 22:45

Do you remember the band, 5ive? Or was it Five?! Anyway, sooooo rude and off their heads. All of them.

In contrast, I met Billie Elish recently. Absolute sweetie, just so natural and chatty with the young girls I was with. I’d heard she was lovely before so it was so nice to see it proved right.

Trudij123 · 14/06/2022 22:54

@Stressedout65 I was SO disappointed- he was exactly that when I met him, we were there for hours in the end and at no point did he even say hello to the animals, let alone the owners. Liza Tarbuck couldn’t have been nicer !!

Lucia23 · 15/06/2022 01:27

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll I met Osman last year. On stage very funny and warm. Back stage found him neither friendly or unfriendly tbh. Just normal and polite.

I remember reading an interview with the girl band bewitched lately and them saying 5 were really nasty, wouldn't give them the time of day, calling them ugly etc

if this was reverse you could be sure the interview be dug up and 5 would be hounded today for calling women ugly by the metoo brigades.

That IS what happened - 5 were calling Bwitched ugly, not the other way around.

Yes, Blair is widely reported to be an absolute charmer too....

Thanks, @Lucia23 - good to hear. Nothing wrong at all with being quiet - that's exactly what I'd expect of him: he very much seems like an introvert who works in an extroverts' world.

Do you remember the band, 5ive? Or was it Five?!

I always remember a comment that Mark Lamarr once made on a vintage episode of Buzzcocks. They had a question about The Levellers and he followed it up by explaining in fascinating lengthy detail about their historical namesakes, and how their story and lives meant a great deal to the band members personally, hence they wanted to pay tribute to them and acknowledge them and their influence, culture and values pervading throughout much of their music in the modern day.

Then he said "In the same way, 5ive are called 5ive.... 'cos there are five of 'em!" Grin

Maybe, if the people reading could actually follow what was being said...
