Petrol has gone up from 179.9 this morning where I am to 184.9 this afternoon! AIBU to think this is getting really worrying?

Fuck, that’s a huge leap in a few hours!

thenightsky · 06/06/2022 17:55

Its £1.90 here! Up from £1.70 this time last week.

WreckTangled · 06/06/2022 17:57

I drove past our local station this morning and the unleaded was 187.9 🥴 absolute nightmare especially for those of us who work in the community and still only get 45p a mile.

@thenightsky wow! Where are you based?

Petrol has just overtaken diesel where I am at £1.91

MeanderingGently · 06/06/2022 17:59

I see I'm not the only one to be shocked at this, it's happened in our area today too.
I live in the east midlands where petrol is relatively cheap, there are still some Tesco stores with petrol at 164.9p. I went out this afternoon and found BP garages selling petrol at 184.9 when it had been 20p cheaper only yesterday. I filled up at Tesco, which has queues outside, I assume it will go up in price as soon as the next delivery arrives at the pumps....

Meandyouandyouandme · 06/06/2022 18:00

It’s a nightmare, I work in the community and only get 25p a mile towards my costs.

BrettAndersonscheekbones · 06/06/2022 18:02

Yep, my nearest has gone up 9p overnight to 185.9. Almost untenable.

orwellwasright · 06/06/2022 18:03

Nah, it's all good. The wholesalers are making billions in profit each year so what's the problem?

@thenightsky wow! Where are you based?

North Lincolnshire.

Pedallleur · 06/06/2022 18:06

Someone I know in the fuel trade told me last week to expect £2 litre by the end of June.

NellesVilla · 06/06/2022 18:09

£2.02! per litre for E5 petrol in some parts of Surrey over jubilee weekend. V old car.

skippy67 · 06/06/2022 18:18

£1.91 at our nearest petrol station. Have seen it for £1.75 not too far away though. SE London.

Foolsrule · 06/06/2022 18:19

It’s getting quite scary now. There was the time when they dropped the price by 5p/litre and that lasted all of a week. It’s becoming untenable for the average family.

Isaidnoalready · 06/06/2022 18:21

Why the leap? Wholesale hasn't really changed?

SecretVictoria · 06/06/2022 18:23

God, this is really frightening. It’s crippling me to get to work and I’ve no option but to drive (shift worker and no public transport at start/finish times).

You can claim tax relief on the extra 20p from HMRC directly!

PinkBuffalo · 06/06/2022 18:24

Yes it is really stressing me out I can only get to work by driving and have no idea how to afford it it keeps going up

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/06/2022 18:25

My not that old car will only run on E5 😥

LimesandClementines · 06/06/2022 18:25

Same here OP 169.9 when I drove past the fuel station on my road at 7.30am, 174.9 when i drove back last at 13.30!

MissWired · 06/06/2022 18:29

Somebody somewhere has no faith in the value of our currency, apparently.

Can't imagine why....

MyFourthName · 06/06/2022 18:29

1.91 rural Northern Ireland this afternoon.

HelloSpringIveMissedYou · 06/06/2022 18:33

It won't be long until a full tank of fuel will be worth more than my car!

ProseccoStorm · 06/06/2022 18:34

190p here, up from 186 end of last week. East of England

dementedmummy · 06/06/2022 18:35

196.9 for both diesel and petrol at a garage in Glasgow. Average 187.9 for diesel and 10p less for petrol usually
