Normally I love to organise things in advance but my husband had an unexpected work change meaning I couldn't.

Now I feel totally lost as to where to go, UK, abroad, what kind of holiday, what to budget. I'm hoping hearing other people's plans might inspire me?

going next Thursday 2 weeks all inclusive in Protarus Cyprus two adults no children booked 4 months ago £2200

ComtesseDeSpair · 27/04/2022 19:11

We’re going to Burning Man. All in, it’ll be about £2,500 each. I firmly believe everybody should go to Burning Man at least once in their life. But not exactly family friendly, if that’s what you’re looking for.

HackAttack · 27/04/2022 19:12

Thanks! I've never been to Cyprus and I've never heard of Burning Man

We are a sport mad family so going to stay near Birmingham for 10 days or so for the Commonwealth Games.

Oneborneverydecade · 27/04/2022 19:15

We're camping in wooden cabins in Ceredigion, W Wales. 4 nights cost £600. 2 adults, 2 primary aged DC, 1 dog.
Eldest DS refuses to go to Wales. He's hopefully going to the US with his sport.
We spent Easter weekend in E Wales too.
I don't enjoy flying though pre covid we did fly, mostly to S of France. I can't imagine having the budget for a big all in overseas holiday for a few years

HackAttack · 27/04/2022 19:17

Hmmm I've never been to Wales for a holiday either

What are the differences between Coachella and Burning Man? Is Coachella mainstream? @ComtesseDeSpair

MummyInTheNecropolis · 27/04/2022 19:18

4 nights at a holiday park by the sea in Essex - £150 for one adult one child. Cheap and cheerful! Couldn’t afford anything more

MummyInTheNecropolis · 27/04/2022 19:19

That’s in the middle of august

Yerroblemom1923 · 27/04/2022 19:19

We're going to a family friendly music festival with some friends and their kids.

HackAttack · 27/04/2022 19:21

That's a bargain Necropolis! Is it a big name one

3 nights camping in Devon for £90. Obviously add in another £150 or so for petrol and food, but that's all we can afford.

Harridan1981 · 27/04/2022 19:23

We tend to do our abroad type hols over Easter as weather is too nice here normally to miss in the summer. We sometimes go to Cornwall for a couple of weeks though.

This year I think we will just be staying put, we love on the Isle of Wight so a holiday destination anyway!

Canhearthemice · 27/04/2022 19:27

Majorca , £2000 in August, family of 4 for a week.

mummmmy14 · 27/04/2022 19:28

Is it a package deal or one you booked bits separately?

July we're going to Northumberland for the week in Airbnb for £600.

In August we are going for 10 nights to South Brittany, staying in chalet/mobile home type thing on a canvas site, going by ferry - £1300 for ferry & accomodation.

twistyizzy · 27/04/2022 19:35

West Coast Scotland in May for 1 week in self catering cottage £1300. PGL for 4 nights August £1300. Then a few random weekends ie glamping etc around £400 per weekend.
First year in 10yrs we haven't gone abroad but just didn't know what would happen re:covid etc

stargirl1701 · 27/04/2022 19:37

A 'Robin Hood' holiday in Sherwood Forest. We did a 'Famous Five' holiday in Dorset last year which was fab!

Soulstirring · 27/04/2022 19:38

Depends when but jet2 has some very competitive deals to Spain. I just went to Tattershall lakes 4 nights for £550 and it was nice. Same 4 nights in early June is 1230. I can go to Spain for 5 night half board in a 4 star (prob not I know) for 800 with a free child place/ I think the U.K. may finally be out pricing itself

Ted27 · 27/04/2022 19:38

Isle of Wight - air bnb apartment on sea front- me and 2 teens £550 for the week, but booked last year and not in school holidays
North Wales - luxury caravan £850 for a week but school holidays. Would normally have a cheaper one but its special occasion this year, and it has a bathroom with bath and separate shower room, plus veranda and outdoor seating
