Normally I love to organise things in advance but my husband had an unexpected work change meaning I couldn't.

Now I feel totally lost as to where to go, UK, abroad, what kind of holiday, what to budget. I'm hoping hearing other people's plans might inspire me?

We have planned for 20 days on West coast of France camping. Have all our gear anyway then the pitch for five of us and a few dogs plus chunnel is £1500.

We're going to Croatia, near Dubrovnik, in June (hooray that all dc have left school). All 3 dc are bringing partners, so there are 8 of us. Self catering villa with pool for 2 weeks. We're very excited, haven't had a family abroad holiday since 2018.

Villa is £1800 a week plus all flights are £1600 in total. It's all paid in advance so our saving up money is basically for food and drink and entertainment. All dc have chipped in as they all have jobs so it's actually cheaper than previous holidays even though there are more of us!

aaah this sounds lovely. I’m really keen to go to Croatia

SockFluffInTheBath · 27/04/2022 21:27

Ancient dog who may or may not make the summer scrapped the planned trip to France. We’ve booked a lovely house in the Scottish Borders for a week in the school summer holiday, cost about £1600- which is more than I’d normally spend on a UK holiday but less than France- but last year’s Devon house was thoroughly bloody depressing and I really wished we’d stayed at home so I wanted somewhere nice this year.

3 bed cottage in Cornwall, £3K for 2 weeks. Provably another 1K for activities/eating out.

00kitty · 27/04/2022 21:30

Who is this through please?

RishiRich · 27/04/2022 21:36

14 nights on a tour/beach holiday in Costa Rica, about £12k. I'm massively excited.

Oldest DC is going to Haven with his friend's family for a week, £100 spends. It's not costing us anything as we're taking friend to Center Parcs at half term so we've called it quits.

Not sure what we'll do with younger DC while DS is away. She wants to go to PGL again so that's a possibility, about £900.

Then we'll probably stay at home for a couple of weeks so the DC will mooch around the house and have friends over while I WFH. I would say it costs nothing but they both eat like a plague of locusts.

Last week, we'll probably go to see family. Costs ~£1k with flights, hotel and food.

ISpyCobraKai · 27/04/2022 21:37

3 days in London in June.
Transport from Glasgow=£20
Air B&B for two nights=£70

I'm allocating £100 for spending money but hoping I won't use it all since I'm just planning to do all free things and eat cheaply.

Rookiemistake · 27/04/2022 21:39

HackAttack
we booked bits separately. We are flying Ryan Air. Flights at decent times and with some luggage were £1200. 2 bed apartment is £1100. Transfers on top. I did book back in October though as I could see prices creeping.

familyissues12345 · 27/04/2022 21:43

We're going to the Cotswolds water park, paying a ridiculous amount, but it's to celebrate end of A Levels for DS1 and thinking it could be the last family holiday he comes on Sad

reluctantbrit · 27/04/2022 21:47

Rhodes,2 weeks in August, 2 adults and a teen who counts as an adult causing the price to go up to nearly £8k

A 'Robin Hood' holiday in Sherwood Forest. We did a 'Famous Five' holiday in Dorset last year which was fab!

Love that idea!

XmasElf10 · 27/04/2022 21:49

ChocolateCakeYum · 27/04/2022 21:49

We’re staying in north wales to explore all the castles. Paid £260.

Superhanz · 27/04/2022 21:54

We booked salou for 2020 but its been put back til now. £2000 for the villa (it's sleeping 6 of us) and £1000 for flights (2 adults and an infant.) Flights are so much more expensive this year. Only for the villa being booked we prob would have given it a miss as we can't really afford it but it's with family so we've been really looking forward to it..for years!

bjjgirl · 27/04/2022 21:55

We have booked a (beautiful) villa just outside of Florence for 7 days which costs £4.5K but then we have flights and all food etc on top (flights £2k and food will be about £1k ish) for 4 adults and 3 kids, as we are taking my parents. At the end of the summer we taking the kids to Prague for 5 nights but haven’t costed that up completely yet (probably £2k all in) in October DH and I are going on an adults only luxury trip to do the typical ancient Egyptian tourist route (Cairo, Luxor, Nile Cruise etc) and that is £9k plus spending money 😬 but I am sooooooooo excited as it is our 40th birthday gift to each other! I know we are extremely spoilt this year but I love holidays!!!

XelaM · 27/04/2022 22:15

We are going to Italy for 2 weeks in August (near Venice) seafront apartment/hotel with a large pool for 5 people and a dog - €140 per night for the room. We only booked recently so were very lucky to get something fairly cheap.

Sallyingon · 27/04/2022 22:15

A week in Tenerife AI in August, four of us £2500 with easy jet holidays. Booked last July.

XelaM · 27/04/2022 22:16

It's a 2 storey apartment rather than a room*
