Normally I love to organise things in advance but my husband had an unexpected work change meaning I couldn't.

Now I feel totally lost as to where to go, UK, abroad, what kind of holiday, what to budget. I'm hoping hearing other people's plans might inspire me?

Short tour- centre parks, then caravan in Devon and apartment in Cornwall, 2.5 weeks in august 3.2k. Feels like a lot for UK for 4 of us but no holiday for ages so just going to go for it - and pray to the weather gods! Will be self catering with a few meals out but mainly walking/ cycling so won't spend a lot when away. I envy those going abroad, couldn't quite face getting cancelled so didn't chance it but having some regret now...

ZellyFitzgerald · 27/04/2022 19:39

We're going to Crete in August. 2 adults and 2 children. 14 nights all inclusive £5800. Bit more than we would normally spend, but we've not been on holiday for 5 years!

Imtoooldforallthis · 27/04/2022 19:42

Have you got specific dates? Would you be happy to book flights and accommodation separate. If you give me some dates and which airport I'll find you some flights. I love looking for flights.

MinnieMountain · 27/04/2022 19:42

A week in a cottage in Wells-Next-the-Sea in Norfolk at the start of the holidays.
A week in a youth hostel in Switzerland at the end. We’ll get the train both ways. DH and DS are staying a few extra days to ski on the glacier there.

HelloDoris · 27/04/2022 19:46

A week in Belgium at Sun Parks in August, lodge and ferry was around £900. Going to Amsterdam for the day and to Eftling for the day..

ThatsBullshirt · 27/04/2022 19:52

One week in Wales staying in an Airbnb so that we can visit DH's friends that he hasn't seen in three years. Two adults, two kids and a dog for a week is just under £800 but that's not including a few days out etc while we are there!

HackAttack · 27/04/2022 19:59

Famous Five holiday?? My boys love Enid Blyton :)

Imtoooldforallthis Newcastle Airport would be best, Spain or Greece/Greek Island would be good 😊. Have you a talent for flight finding?

Cyprus in Aug, 10 nights all inclusive- 2 adults, 2 kids. £5.5k for flights and all inclusive hotel. Way more than I would usually ever spend but had been a long time coming!

Mummyme87 · 27/04/2022 20:02

Paphos in Cyprus, all inclusive, 2 adults and 2 children in May half term. £3600, booked December time I think

Renovationstation · 27/04/2022 20:04

Week in North Wales holiday cottage, family of 4, cost £700, will spend another £500-600 on activities, petrol and food.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 27/04/2022 20:06

5 nights in Northumberland for £450
We plan on going for walks and photography of local wildlife.
Will be having a new kitchen fitted whilst we are away .

VestaTilley · 27/04/2022 20:07

August Bank Holiday weekend in a static caravan in Pembrokeshire; going with the in laws, who have kindly offered to pay for us all.

We’ll take lots of annual leave over summer, but we won’t be doing more than days out, because of cost. Luckily for us we live in a beautiful area with lots of good outings available nearby.

ImplementingTheDennisSystem · 27/04/2022 20:08

Scottish Highlands for a week next week! We paid £500 for our chalet.
Anglesey for a week in September, paying £800 for our cottage.
We may go for a European city break in Nov/Dec.

Imtoooldforallthis · 27/04/2022 20:11

Flights only, cheapest flights to Cyprus are about £390, but flights from Newcastle to menorca, ibiza and Portugal for about £130, not sure how that compares.

ModerationInEverything · 27/04/2022 20:12

1 week cruise around Norwegian fjords, 2a 1teen, £2400 balcony cabin including premium drinks package. First time we've been on a cruise, fingers crossed we enjoy it. Reviews either love or hate.

Haybo26 · 27/04/2022 20:13

4 nights end of July, caravan in Barmouth. 2 adults, 3 teens and a dog. £250.

Crunchymum · 27/04/2022 20:16

10 days, cottage in seaside town (10 minutes from the sea). £900 for 5 of us in the summer holidays. This includes return train fares.

BlancmanegeBunny · 27/04/2022 20:19

Two adults and two teens. We are off to Spain for 2 weeks at the end of July, staying in a detached villa with a private pool. We have been there before, it's in a quiet spot near the coast.
£2,500 is the total for flights (booked early) villa, car hire, and everything else excluding food and spending money.

I can't wait!!!!

Skyeheather · 27/04/2022 20:20

Week in a North Wales holiday cottage next to the beach, two adults and two young dc. Hoping the weather is nice so we can spend all week at the beach, picnic lunches and self catering in the evenings as dc are young and will need their beds after a day at the beach.

Cost £860 for the cottage, will spend money on petrol to get there and back, will do our usual food shop but will buy ice creams/slushies etc on the beach, might get fish & chips for tea on a couple of evenings, might have a couple of days out, DP loves his water sports so there will be some equipment hire for that.

neonleopard · 27/04/2022 20:21

6 days in Italy in August for 4 of us. Booked in Jan. Flights to Verona about £100 each (Ba was cheaper than easyJet!) And an air b n b apartment in a small town on lake Garda was about £700, plus one night in a hotel was another £150ish. Pretty good for summer hols I think!

carrottopper · 27/04/2022 20:21

Majorca 2 adults 2 children half board £2,600

clarasara · 27/04/2022 20:23

We are going to France in brothers gite. Don't think we would be going anywhere if it wasn't a freebie as cutting back!

weegiemum · 27/04/2022 20:23

We're going to Croatia, near Dubrovnik, in June (hooray that all dc have left school). All 3 dc are bringing partners, so there are 8 of us. Self catering villa with pool for 2 weeks. We're very excited, haven't had a family abroad holiday since 2018.

Villa is £1800 a week plus all flights are £1600 in total. It's all paid in advance so our saving up money is basically for food and drink and entertainment. All dc have chipped in as they all have jobs so it's actually cheaper than previous holidays even though there are more of us!

Barkingmadhouse · 27/04/2022 20:25

5* all inclusive for a week in tenerife for family of 3 - £1100
Mon-Fri in wales at haven - £70

BrieAndChilli · 27/04/2022 20:27

We went to Crete last week. Was 17 of us in a villa. We are a family of 5 and probably spent £3.5-4K in total on flights/villa/airport parking/kennels/food and days out etc. The most expensive holiday we have ever had but we went with all of DH family and it’s been a rough few years so had a blow out.
