Normally I love to organise things in advance but my husband had an unexpected work change meaning I couldn't.

Now I feel totally lost as to where to go, UK, abroad, what kind of holiday, what to budget. I'm hoping hearing other people's plans might inspire me?

Exactly
because anyone post they spend more than some mumsnetters think is acceptable for holidays (invariable no more than a couple of hundred for camping) or on food (£40 a week for a family of 6) then they will be accused of boasting or lying.

i am a single parent of two children and in total spend about £8k a year on holidays (and £145 on food a week 😮!!)

Glad this thread has a sensible level of spending , I remember previous years it was 10k +

”sensible” in your judgement opinion

a family income of £200k, absolutely not uncommon in SE, spending £10k would 5% of their income.

We have quite a few little holidays this year, mostly because they have been rearranged from the past 2 years
weekend in Lake District
weekend at forest holidays
weekend at a vineyard
week in Norfolk
week in sitges
weekend in cotswolds
weekend in Wales
