Normally I love to organise things in advance but my husband had an unexpected work change meaning I couldn't.

Now I feel totally lost as to where to go, UK, abroad, what kind of holiday, what to budget. I'm hoping hearing other people's plans might inspire me?

We got all new bikes so planning to do some bike/camping with kiddos over the summer holidays for a few days.
Some child friendly places during the day and barbecuing at the evenings.🌞

JamMakingWannaBe · 27/04/2022 20:40

A week self catering in Aviemore. £550 for 4. We can't wait to see the baby polar bear at Highland Wildlife Park!

We have quite a few festivals we booked and paid for which should have happened summer 2020 or 2021 but haven't happened yet due to Covid. So three separate long weekends in a field with friends. We only usually go to one but have hung on to tickets.

Plus a week camping in Devon with my parents, brother and family and 3 nights in an Airbnb in Alnwick on DH's rest days because his job won't allow him a week off to come camping with us so we are squeezing in some family time between shifts.

GrandTheftWalrus · 27/04/2022 20:42

Tenerife in September for 10 nights, 1500 for 3 of us. My parents are also going and added my older dd to their booking so they are 1500 as well.

Notimeforaname · 27/04/2022 20:44

2 adults, late August ,14 nights in Corfu split over 3 different areas. Flights, all accommodation and a car for the two weeks €1400.

Family of 5 - 10 days July French holiday camp -€2,400 for accommodation and ferry from Dublin to France is 2k. Part of the ferry is covered by tesco vouchers. I have never spent as much on a holiday but it's rolled over from 2 years ago.

CarryonCovid · 27/04/2022 20:57

Villa on a Greek island €2400 Easyjet flights £500 last 2 weeks in August booked a year ahead.

GnomeDePlume · 27/04/2022 20:58

Driving down to Provence for 2 weeks in a villa with our own pool at the end of June. Being joined by two of our adult DCs plus their partners. 4 bedroom villa £1,500 (James Villas). With travel costs, food etc I am expecting the full cost to come in at around £3,500.

It's an area we went to when DCs were small. There is much talk of going to revisit Roman sites, medieval castles and local markets.

CarryonCovid · 27/04/2022 20:59

Sorry 3 adults one teen.

MrsMigginsCat · 27/04/2022 21:03

Slightly out of summer, but a 3.5 weeks in Oz at the beginning of October. Just shy of 8k for two adults including all flights there and back, internal flights and accommodation. Massively more than we'd usually spend but it's a once in a lifetime type holiday after a really shit couple of years.

Sodullincomparison · 27/04/2022 21:03

Greece for ten days to visit friends. £800 for flights for 2 adults and 1 child and then we will share food and alcohol costs and have a few day trips.

also like pp, a family friendly festival later in summer.

Lilly11a · 27/04/2022 21:06

Glad this thread has a sensible level of spending , I remember previous years it was 10k +

I have week with the kids in caravan in Clacton week before summer holidays in July - will sleep 8 so various friends and family will come for 1/2 days £480
Also have a week in Crete all inclusive mid September with other half that's just over £1000 -

believe it or not kids ( 18 21) prefer holiday camp UK holidays as they can hire bikes, do arcades etc then going abroad due to the heat .

Toseland · 27/04/2022 21:10
