We are off to Spain next week,we have had a few weekends away since Christmas (one was a hen weekend) and we went out to dinner last night. I was on the phone to DSIL and she asked why I was so tired, I said oh we were out for dinner and drinks last night. It ended up being a later than expected night. She then said "oh and Spain on Monday... you two are getting around, is it not a bit much? Especially since you're not vaccinated! " I was just gobsmacked! I mean seriously I thought we were passed that vaccinated/non vaccinated talk...live and let live. Aibu to be p'd off!!??

Ignore her.

PyjamaFan · 15/04/2022 12:35

YABU to be unvaccinated.

Hawkins001 · 15/04/2022 12:36

How would you being vaccinated, have helped with your energy levels ?

PukkaP · 15/04/2022 12:36

YABU

HollyBollyBooBoo · 15/04/2022 12:37

We'll never be passed it when Covid cases are still rising.

Fingers crossed you stay well.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/04/2022 12:37

@PyjamaFan

YABU to be unvaccinated.
No they aren't. Freedom of choice. (I'm fully vaccinated).
aSofaNearYou · 15/04/2022 12:38

I wouldn't have been bold enough to say something like she did but I think you're wrong to be shocked that we're not past caring about vaccination.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 15/04/2022 12:38

It's amazing how some people can shoehorn certain topics into every conversation

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/04/2022 12:38

YANBU. Covid is over as far as the government is concerned, no rules, no laws, so it's precisely no one's business any more what other people are doing.

the80sweregreat · 15/04/2022 12:40

People are just jealous and like to have a dig, sadly :(
I assume you'll have to have proof of a negative pcr before you go to Spain etc etc, so nothing is ever straight forwards getting away.
I hope you have a nice time , after being stuck at home for years because of covid people are wanting to get away for holidays and things.
Don't blame them at all !

ilovesooty · 15/04/2022 12:41

I think her comment was uncalled for. I still believe that the more people vaccinated the better but I won't offer my opinion now unless unvaccinated people bring the subject up and try to impose their view on me, and that hardly ever happens.

ilovesooty · 15/04/2022 12:43

I don't care what the government says.

I think I'm allowed to care about vaccination status but as I said won't now give my view to others unless they bring it up.

Palavah · 15/04/2022 12:43

Presumably she meant it's a risk given you'll need to declare you're covid free on arrival?

Anyway, own your choices

Getoffmyshoes · 15/04/2022 12:43

She’s probably annoyed you’re willing to reap the benefits of others being vaccinated without doing your bit yourselves.

You have to be fully vaccinated to enter Spain unless you have had Covid in the last 6 months.

Not having a dig just hoping you are aware of this.

Itwasntmeright · 15/04/2022 12:44

She’s jealous.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 15/04/2022 12:45

Not getting vaccinated was your choice and things are largely back to normal (even though the NHS is on its knees and infections are still through the roof).

But... covid affected and changed the whole world. Repercussions are still being felt everywhere. You can't expect people who are vaccinated and know you aren't to ever change their minds about whether they think you were in the wrong with your choice.

As someone whose father died a year ago with covid, I will never respect my unvaccinated in-laws again. Genuinely.

WhenSheWasBad · 15/04/2022 12:48

Travelling unvaccinated seems like an odd choice. To be fair being unvaccinated seems like an odd choice too.

peperamimami · 15/04/2022 12:52

@PyjamaFan are you my SIL Hmm

As I have said before to others it's my choice, I have my reasons.

@BackInBlackAgain no I don't just a negative antigen or PCR

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 15/04/2022 12:52

I think
You should check the criteria for travel if your not vaccinated. Pcr's have to be done in advance ( I apologize if you already know this ) and a locator form online 48 hours before travel. We are both vaccinated.
We got back from Spain last week and the area we were in were very strict about the mask wearing and sanitizing etc and we had to wear a mask on the plane too.
Hope it goes well though op!

peperamimami · 15/04/2022 12:53

@the80sweregreat yes we have a PCR booked. I wear my mask all day for work so it's no issue for me.

This.
the80sweregreat · 15/04/2022 12:55

I was surprised at how strict they were in Spain compared to the UK : masks everywhere.
Still , it's still nice to go on holiday and have a break from it all

peperamimami · 15/04/2022 12:56

@KosherDill how gas others being vaccinated benefitted me? They are still spreading it!

OP posts:
goldenbag · 15/04/2022 12:57

What @Getoffmyshoes said.

You're benefiting from everyone else who did bother to go and get vaccinated.
