We are off to Spain next week,we have had a few weekends away since Christmas (one was a hen weekend) and we went out to dinner last night. I was on the phone to DSIL and she asked why I was so tired, I said oh we were out for dinner and drinks last night. It ended up being a later than expected night. She then said "oh and Spain on Monday... you two are getting around, is it not a bit much? Especially since you're not vaccinated! " I was just gobsmacked! I mean seriously I thought we were passed that vaccinated/non vaccinated talk...live and let live. Aibu to be p'd off!!??

@britneyisfree come again ? You do know that actual people live in , and by the rules of , other countries dont you ?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/04/2022 13:20

@Sundancerintherain

I live in Spain. Please dont come if unvaccinated. The rules here are strict and fully enforced & I dont want a return to full restrictions in September because of your choices.
Unvaccinated are allowed in. If you don't like it, complain to the Spanish government, they make the rules.
Littlepaws18 · 15/04/2022 13:20

It's your choice whether to be vaccinated or not but it's a responsibility to ensure your choices don't impact others. You really shouldn't be travelling if you aren't vaccinated. It's completely irresponsible.

Other opinions are available. 😇

Abouttimemum · 15/04/2022 13:23

“how gas others being vaccinated benefitted me? They are still spreading it!”

Oh dear, two years in and people still don’t understand 🤦‍♀️ So long as you have ‘your reasons’

Herejustforthisone · 15/04/2022 13:23

This thread is goady AF. Which probably explains the SIL’s alleged response.

aSofaNearYou · 15/04/2022 13:23
@aSofaNearYou it's not me they should have the issue with, their government says I can go with a negative PCR...so I will go with a negative PCR...
This is just thick. Obviously the government make the rules but you are the one creating the issue. You are free to make your choice but you're showing zero humility about it and are coming across terribly.

Herejustforthisone · 15/04/2022 13:24

Also how can people still be ignorant to the concept of herd immunity? I mean, it sort of ties in with the choice to remain unvaccinated, but still…

Why would we be passed the vaccinated / unvaccinated phase when cases are so high? People still call me a Remoaner.

Why? OP will be taking a test beforehand.
comealongponds · 15/04/2022 13:25

Well YABU for not being vaccinated

But your holiday and evening plans are your own business.
@BackInBlackAgain i am not in the U.K. though... Confused
Apologies, you said that in an answer that i didnt see until after i posted

luckylavender · 15/04/2022 13:26

@Waxonwaxoff0

YANBU. Covid is over as far as the government is concerned, no rules, no laws, so it's precisely no one's business any more what other people are doing.
Are you saying the government don't care so we shouldn't either? Mad.
WTF475878237NC · 15/04/2022 13:26

YABU, Covid is everyone right now. The hospitals are getting swamped again and your going travelling unvaccinated. I agree with your SIL.

^ me too.

It's a global pandemic and the more people who get it the more the virus mutates. The more it mutates the longer it survives around the world. The longer is survives, the more chance of mutation to a more virulent strain. That's why the unvaccinated by choice are selfish.

I know. The scientific ignorance out there is mind-boggling.
AlternativePerspective · 15/04/2022 13:27

OP has seemingly name changed or joined to post this goadie shite.

Reported.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/04/2022 13:27

@luckylavender no, I'm saying that since there are no longer any rules or laws, the general public have no right to police what anyone else is doing.

luckylavender · 15/04/2022 13:28

@peperamimami

@PyjamaFan are you my SIL Hmm

As I have said before to others it's my choice, I have my reasons.

@BackInBlackAgain no I don't just a negative antigen or PCR

So own your choice. And expect people to comment.
peperamimami · 15/04/2022 13:28

@Abouttimemum I work in pharma, I know how it all works...believe me!! I have had my reasons from the beginning. I actually had my first vaccine and had horrible side effects! I will not being getting any more! I wear my mask all day every day! I have worked the whole way through this pandemic...I'm entitled to a holiday if that country says I can come in unvaccinated and I can provide a negative PCR

You’re not unvaccinated then are you?

Herejustforthisone · 15/04/2022 13:32

Also I refuse to believe someone who apparently works in ‘pharma’ doesn’t understand herd immunity.

VeganGod · 15/04/2022 13:32

Why does your SILs opinion bother you? If you genuinely feel ok with what you’re doing and it’s allowed, just get on with it.

peperamimami · 15/04/2022 13:32

@Herejustforthisone yes I am as I didn't have the second dose...one dose is not considered vaccinated.
