We are off to Spain next week,we have had a few weekends away since Christmas (one was a hen weekend) and we went out to dinner last night. I was on the phone to DSIL and she asked why I was so tired, I said oh we were out for dinner and drinks last night. It ended up being a later than expected night. She then said "oh and Spain on Monday... you two are getting around, is it not a bit much? Especially since you're not vaccinated! " I was just gobsmacked! I mean seriously I thought we were passed that vaccinated/non vaccinated talk...live and let live. Aibu to be p'd off!!??

As I have said before to others it's my choice, I have my reasons.

It being your choice makes no difference to what others will think about that choice.

Totalwasteofpaper · 15/04/2022 13:00

I'd just asume she was jealous of my lifestyle 🤷🏻‍♀️

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/04/2022 13:00

@ilovesooty you don't have to care what the government says, but you don't have the right to police others choices either.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/04/2022 13:04

@goldenbag

What *@Getoffmyshoes* said.

You're benefiting from everyone else who did bother to go and get vaccinated.

So what though? Plenty of people benefit from things at the expense of others. I'm a single parent and I benefit from working tax credits paid by others to top up my wages. The world isn't fair.
toomanydogsandcats · 15/04/2022 13:07

How do you know if someone's unvaccinated?

Don't worry, they'll tell you

MarriedThreeChildren · 15/04/2022 13:07

Well that’s your choice.
But I’d have the same thought crossing my mind.

I mean nearly 2000 people died last week. That’s not as if the pandemic had completely gone yet.

Who said I was policing anyone's choice? I said that I'd prefer it if as many people as possible are vaccinated. I also said that I wouldn't bring the issue up unless an unvaccinated person did, and tried to force their view on me.

How is that "policing other people's choices"?

Ursulasunderstudy · 15/04/2022 13:09

I think you need to check the entry criteria for Spain again. Unless you’ve had covid in the last 6 months or are Spanish residents, you need to be fully vaccinated.

Livelovebehappy · 15/04/2022 13:11

Having recently returned from Spain, be prepared for them enforcing Covid rules over there very strictly. We went in shops where people (usually British) were'nt wearing masks. The shop workers were all over them like a rash. They were told to wear a mask or leave. And no exceptions for people who were saying they have medical exemption.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/04/2022 13:11

@ilovesooty sorry, I meant people in general.

Snaketime · 15/04/2022 13:11

YABU, Covid is everyone right now. The hospitals are getting swamped again and your going travelling unvaccinated. I agree with your SIL.
@ilovesooty sorry, I meant people in general.
No worries.

girlmom21 · 15/04/2022 13:13

I'd have just assumed she meant she'd be limiting her social contact if she wasn't vaccinated before flying as you won't be able to go if you contract covid.

Sundancerintherain · 15/04/2022 13:14

I live in Spain.
Please dont come if unvaccinated.
The rules here are strict and fully enforced & I dont want a return to full restrictions in September because of your choices.

peperamimami · 15/04/2022 13:14

@Livelovebehappy I wear a mask all day every day in work so intend on doing so on holidays.

@Ursulasunderstudy no I don't...I'm not in the U.K. so maybe that makes a difference?

@Sundancerintherain but I'm allowed in so I will go.

@peperamimami

@PyjamaFan are you my SIL Hmm

As I have said before to others it's my choice, I have my reasons.

@BackInBlackAgain no I don't just a negative antigen or PCR

You might want to check again - from the government website -

Under the Spanish government’s current measures, you can only enter Spain from the UK for tourism purposes if you can show valid proof of meeting the vaccination requirements set out above or a medical certificate certifying that you have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months prior to travel. See ‘If you’ve had COVID-19 in the past year’ for further details.

What do you want from this thread? You don't have any empathy for people from the country you plan to visit begging you not to go, so why do you expect people to have empathy for you and your choices?

peperamimami · 15/04/2022 13:17

@BackInBlackAgain i am not in the U.K. though... Confused

Littlepaws18 · 15/04/2022 13:18

This is the current guidance on the fco website for tourists to Spain.

•	being fully vaccinated (with both doses of a two-dose vaccine or one dose of a one-dose vaccine) at least 14 days prior to arrival in Spain (date(s) of vaccination must be specified). See ‘If you’re fully vaccinated’’_.
•	having recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months. You can also use a medical certificate or recovery record to prove your COVID-19 status on entry to Spain. See ‘If you’ve had COVID-19 in the past year’’_.

So I don't see how you can enter without being fully vaccinated?

AlternativePerspective · 15/04/2022 13:18

Goadie thread.

peperamimami · 15/04/2022 13:18

@aSofaNearYou it's not me they should have the issue with, their government says I can go with a negative PCR...so I will go with a negative PCR...
